Prior to its U.S. theatrical release, the distributor of the film requested that the graphic violence be cut to avoid an “X” rating from the MPAA. The film has been completely restored from a newly discovered 35mm inter-positive source including all of its long rumored scenes of bloody carnage.

This new edition includes all-new extras including a new commentary by producer/director Eric Weston (Hyenas).

We have big (and extensive) news to report today regarding a film that we announced almost over a year ago in July.

In collaboration with Morgan Creek Productions and Clive Barker’s Seraphim, Inc., the long-awaited "Nightbreed: The Director's Cut" is scheduled for a release of October 28th and will be available in two retail versions:

A 5,000 Unit Limited-Edition 3-Disc Blu-ray™ set and a Special Edition DVD & Blu-ray™ Combo.




In 1990, the film was released theatrically nationwide. However, the movie studio edited the film extensively and several scenes were excised or rearranged – much to Director Clive Barker’s disappointment.

Since then, a fan-driven movement was created to see the full version of the film restored and re-released. Now, after 25 years, fans and horror enthusiasts can finally experience Nightbreed like never before!




Scream Factory, in conjunction with Warner Bros., was able to find the long-thought-missing original film elements and combed through over 600 boxes to locate not only the lost scenes but a treasure trove of never-before-seen footage as well.

With nearly an hour of lost footage meticulously restored, the result is not only a more faithful adaptation of Clive Barker’s book Cabal, but also what he originally intended Nightbreed to be.

Clive Barker's Official Statement:

"This is film history and beyond my wildest dreams of realization. When Scream Factory told me that they found the "Nightbreed" film footage I was gob-smacked! This is the ultimate validation of choices made by myself and Mark Miller [of Seraphim Films] all the way back in 2008.

As we embarked down the road of attempting to track down the lost footage, we looked at each other and said, 'Maybe one day they'll find it.' It's my pleasure to announce that the day has come.



Speaking personally, I didn't allow myself to believe that it would. Even if we did find some footage (which we did in 2009 in the form of heavily degraded VHS tapes) and even if we did find a company willing to release the film (which we did in 2013 with Scream Factory, God bless them) the prospect of finding the actual lost film materials was remoter than I'd wanted to admit out loud.

If the footage could not be found by those who had worked closest on it the same year it had been released, then what were the odds we'd be able to find anything 20 years on?



But Scream Factory, in their commendable determination, kept up the search and thanks to them total reconstruction has been made a possibility. There's never been a reconstruction that's had as little chance of succeeding and yet has succeeded on as many fronts as this film has. It's unprecedented.

To now have a movie that we can put together in the way that I fully intended it to be seen when I first set out to make this film in 1989 is extraordinary.

The project has moved inexorably to this conclusion. Fate and the hard work of individuals such as Mark Miller, Russell Cherrington, Phil and Sarah Stokes, Occupy Midian, Morgan Creek, and ultimately, Scream Factory have made this a possibility and I could not be happier."

Meet mankind’s deadliest enemy!

Each year they plunder one fifth of our food, spread our deadliest diseases and destroy billions of dollars worth of homes and property.



Grain contaminated with steroids produce large black rats that begin feeding on the citizens of Toronto. A college basketball coach (Sam Groom) teams up with a local health inspector (Sara Botsford) to uncover the source of the mysterious giant rats.

When they discover that the rats are living in the subway, they try to prevent a new subway line from opening before all hell breaks loose underground. This is man’s last desperate, bloody battle to preserve the existence of the human race!

Tales from the Crypt / Vault of Horror:

Sorry guys but we need to delay our upcoming Blu-ray release of Tales from the Crypt / Vault of Horror. The double feature is now scheduled for 12/2/14 instead of its originally planned 10/14/14 date.

As you know, we announced this release with the goal of presenting Vault uncut. That is still the plan but we have run into some challenges in our process. FOX (whom we licensed the film from) does not have this original footage in their vaults and because of this we are seeking some other avenues to try to find suitable source material.

One route we have pursued has been to contact The British Film Institute (BFI) since there were rumors that they had restored the film. Unfortunately, we have learned that is not the case.



We love this film and we want to be able to say at the end of the day that we did the best we could with the resources/budget we have to make this the best release possible.

We’ll keep you posted on our progress and thank you for understanding our situation.

We start our month-long "Shocktober" celebration with a new title announcement (one of several this month). Actually, we have TWO films to reveal today that will be in a double-feature:

The horror comedies Love at First Bite (1979) with George Hamilton and Once Bitten (1985) with Jim Carrey!

This is the first time on the Blu-ray format for both films and is expected to land near Valentine's Day 2015. No details on extras at this time.

We are aware that prior DVD versions of the film were altered, specifically during a key moment in a disco in which the song 'I Love the Nightlife' song (sung by Alicia Bridges) was replaced by another track.

We are doing our best to correct this and will keep you posted on the progress.

Next Spring we will unleash the vengeance-filled cult favorite Class of 1984 (1982) as a “Collector’s Edition” for the first time on the Blu-ray format!



Although this is not a “horror film” in the true sense of the word we thought it was suitably violent, edgy and dark enough to warrant inclusion in the brand (Not to mention it has a strong following).

The Director himself - Mark L. Lester - is very on board with this strategy as well. Those of you who love the film know what a gem it is and that it sports a great cast that includes Perry King, Roddy McDowell, Lisa Langlois , Timothy Van Patten and even Michael J. Fox in an early role.

On Jan 13th, The sci-fi thriller Supernova makes its debut on the Blu-ray format.

Starring James Spader, Angela Bassett, Lou Diamond Phillips, Robert Forster, Peter Facinelli, Wilson Cruz and Robin Tunney.







Blacula (1972) / Scream Blacula Scream (1973)

In Feb, a blood-sucking double feature of guilty pleasures Blacula and its sequel Scream Blacula Scream from the 70s will bare their fangs on Blu-ray for the first time too in the U.S. and Canada.

Both films star William Marshall as “Blacula” and the legendary Pam Grier is featured in the sequel.









Tales from the Crypt / Vault of Horror:


For all of you waiting patiently for our double feature Blu-ray release of Tales from the Crypt / Vault of Horror on 12/2, we have some very good news to report to you on Vault...

When we found out that the Fox HD master we licensed was the theatrical cut, we went searching for an uncut film element. This was a challenge since the film is over 40 years old and somewhat obscure.

At some point we started to accept that that we were going to have to splice DVD footage of the uncut footage (lifted from a prior UK release) into the theatrical cut to be able to present it uncut, as promise when we announced. We tried that and the results were not great.

Still, we thought this was the best we were going to be able to get.





Thankfully, there was rumor that the British Film Institute had done a restoration on the film years ago. We contacted them and, sure enough, BFI had done an HD transfer from a film print--and it was the UNCUT version!

We quickly had a clone made of their master and then removed dirt and scratches from it to the best of our resources.





The release is now a 2-disc set. The first disc will include Tales and Vault's uncut widescreen. The 2nd disc will include Vault's theatrical cut (from the Fox master) and a rare open-matte version of the BFI master.

We thank you for your patience on the delay of this release and hope you will find that our presentation of these films will have been worth the wait!

Directed by Jeff Burr (The Stepfather 2, Pumpkinhead II, Leatherface: TCM III and Puppet Master 4 & 5), the film stars legendary king of horror Vincent Price, Clu Gulager, Susan Tyrell and Cameron Mitchell.




The artwork is final (and we will strive to make the reverse art as “The Offspring” – no promises at this time.) There are no details on extras at this time but they will be announced before the end of the year.

“A gothic thriller!” – The Hollywood Reporter



Murder was just the beginning...

Based on Dylan Thomas' original screenplay, this shocking horror-thriller stars Timothy Dalton as Thomas Rock, a brilliant young anatomy professor in 1820s Edinburgh.

At first accepting only the cadavers provided him for study – those of a few hanged criminals per year – Rock eventually recruits two grave robbers (Jonathan Pryce and Stephen Rea) to secure a better supply of corpses.

We are sorry to report the following news but the Bruno Mattei film Cruel Jaws will not be coming out as a double feature with Exterminators of the Year 3000 next year as originally planned.

Exterminators will now be a standalone Blu-ray release at a lower price.



It came to our attention through several of our fans that Cruel Jaws had several scenes in it of unauthorized footage from Jaws 1-3 and other Italian-made shark films that makes it impossible for us to release this in the U.S. & Canada without risking legal ramifications.

We gave serious thought about editing out the material of course, but it’s quite a bit of scenes to remove and we knew ultimately that doing that would not satisfy the film’s fans or new ones we wanted to attract.

Again we apologize for getting hopes up on releasing this cult curiosity. We were also looking forward to it and no one is more bummed about it than us for having to turn tables so quickly after announcing it.



New pre-order links for Exterminators (which is a fun film in its own right) should be up soon or next week. Street date is still 3/3/15.

Scarecrows / Destroyer:

Die-hard fans of the underrated 1988 cult favorite Scarecrows will be happy to hear today that we have switched gears on its release strategy. It will now be standalone Blu-ray release (with extras)!

Release will land somewhere in our “Summer of Fear Part 2” release window (May-Aug). Once a date is locked we can advise on when pre-order links will go up.

The film was originally double-featured with 1988's Destroyer. That one will find a home later on in the year paired with another title in the works that we have not announced yet.







Escape from New York:

We can now report that the planned street date is 4/21.

As you know, we love Carpenter films and we're attempting to pull out all the stops on this classic. We can tell you that the current plan is to make it a 2-disc Blu-ray set. Full specs (listing new and existing extras) will be announced sometime in February.

1985's Howling II will be coming out later on in the Summer! We were not prepared to announce the title at this time but the cat (or, in this case, wolf) was let out of the bag from another source.

We have no details at this time and we hope that fans of this cult classic are pleased to see this arrive on Blu-ray for the first time!

We have some “A-number one” updates to report today regarding our upcoming (and highly-anticipated) Collector’s Edition of John Carpenter’s legendary film Escape from New York.



- Here’s an exclusive first look at the official newly-commissioned artwork which comes courtesy to us from artist Paul Shipper (Halloween: The Complete Collection).

Snake is centrally focused of course, but we felt that it was important to showcase the incredible ensemble cast who are all vitally important to the film too.

Purists can rejoice: The iconic original poster art with the beheaded Statue of Liberty will be on the reverse wrap and we wouldn’t dream of not including it!

This is a 2-disc Blu-ray set and will exceed the previous DVD special edition.

We regret to inform you that we are moving the release date for Dog Soldiers again… but hopefully for good reason. The new official street date is now 6/23/15.

The film’s director, Neil Marshall, has recently found potentially better film elements for us to work with so that we can create a new HD transfer. In order for us to do this, we need more time and which is why a delay was prompted.



We really debated postponing this underrated gem again but we know that many of you have requested a new transfer (better than the previous Blu-ray release) and we want to exhaust every avenue to bring one to you.

Fans of the 1999 possession-themed shocker Stigmata will be pleased to know that we will be bringing it to the Blu-ray format for the first time on May 12th!

Starring Patricia Arquette, Gabriel Byrne, and Jonathan Pryce, the movie was a surprise hit at the time of its release, grossing nearly $90M at the box-office internationally.

No details on extras at this time but you can expect most (if not all) extras that were on the prior 2000 MGM DVD release to be ported over. We will keep you posted closer to street date. Pre-order links will go up next month.

We’re pleased to premiere the newly-commissioned artwork for both Collector’s Editions of Sleepaway Camp 2 & 3 — both which will release on 6/9.

Since artist Nathan Thomas Milliner created the well-received art for our original Sleepaway Camp release last year, we naturally went to him to design its sequels so that the “trilogy” would have a similar creative aesthetic to them.



As fans know, Parts 2 & 3 are really over-the-top with lots of humor (intentional and unintentional) and we wanted to have as much with that and exploit that comedy visually. We hope you agree that it’s hard not to smile when you see these.

For those wondering, reverse art on will be included and will sport the 80s VHS covers we all remember.

1987’s genie-on-the loose The Outing will be paired with 1980’s Omen-inspired The Godsend from Cannon Pictures and Empire Pictures’ Cellar Dweller and Catacombs (both from 1988) will share a double bill.

All are expected to land on 7/14 and will receive new widescreen HD transfers. Pre-order links will go up next month.




Many of you will recognize these films from our prior “All-Night Horror Marathon” budget DVD releases back in 2013. At the time, we were unable to create new transfers for a variety of reasons (mostly financial) which caused disappointment from fans who wanted better presentations. (We felt your pain too.)

We are pleased to be able to “correct” this now and have chosen some of the more requested titles from those releases to experiment with. If they do well, perhaps more will follow.

Run times for each movie will be exactly as they were on the DVD releases. There are no new extras as the costs spent are going to the transfers.







Ghost Town (1988)

Empire Pictures’ 1988 horror-western hybrid Ghost Town, will be riding into the Scream Factory homestead on Blu-ray July 28th. (We’ve had several requests for this one.)

This Summer we will be releasing the 1986 shocker Nomads for the first time on Blu-ray!

From the Director of Predator and Die Hard, the action centers on Pierce Brosnan as a doctor battling demonic spirits.

Also along for the ride: Lesley Anne-Down (The Great Train Robbery), Mary Woronov (Rock N Roll High School, Night of the Comet) and even 80s singer Adam Ant (!?)

Dark Summer seems to be part of that small subgenre of teens under house arrest (Disturbia, Homebound), I liked Paul Solet's previous film Grace, so I'll check DS out.

I wonder if they've turned their backs on their past careers. On some commentaries I've listened to they talk about how they tried to get a hold of people involved in the film and either they couldn't contact them, or the actor or crew member just wanted nothing to do with it.

On the cast commentary for Final Exam, from the way one of the actresses talked, she was friends with the writer/director, and I got the impression he had no interest in participating in the commentary.

The 3rd film in The Evil Dead franchise, Army of Darkness (1992), is coming to Blu-ray in October! We will certainly aim to make it the most definitive version to own to date.

The Outing

An ancient genie is released from a lamp when thieves ransack an old woman's house. They are killed and the lamp is sent to a museum to be studied.

The curator's daughter is soon possessed by the genie and invites her friends to spend the night at the museum, along with some uninvited guests.

When a strange woman has her baby at the Marlowe's house, then disappears, Kate Marlowe is forced to keep the baby, Bonnie.

From the director of Demon Seed, this 1987 thriller will be coming to DVD & Blu-ray for the first time this November. The film Stars David Keith, Cathy Moriarty and Alan Rosenberg.

Blood & Lace:

This long-lost slasher film from 1971 finally releases on a DVD & Blu-ray combo on 11/24 and a new HD transfer for it is completed!

Ghost Story:

Circle 11/24 on your calendars for this spooky and winter-filled tale of revenge.

The Car:

We’re aiming to park this in December.

Heads up: For some strange legal reason we are not able to use the original theatrical or international poster art on our release and so a newly-designed piece has been created. Once that’s officially approved, we’ll share it with you and confirm a street date.




Women's Prison Massacre, Garbage Pail Kids, Nightmares:

All Blu-rays are expected for Dec. No other details to report at this time.




Jack's Back, The Guardian:

Prepare to start off the new year with fear. Currently both releases are scheduled for Jan.




Destroyer:

Sorry, no movement on a release date yet as we are still having issues with retrieving suitable film elements.




The Serpent and the Rainbow:

This one is now looking to strike in Feb or March 2016.





BTW - We do have more titles to announce before the year ends and will reveal them before the end of Sept. We’ll disclose more titles planned for 2016 in October.
