Kate walks into her office. "Another long day" she says. Then, her phone rang. "McCafferty...Oh Hi Magda..Oh you cant come in today? Why not...Bens sick..Okay then..I'll tell her..Alright..Buh bye" Kate sighs and puts the phone down, and it rang again. "McCafferty?! CD...ooh..your at a trial with your husband for harrassment and you cant come in today..great....alright, I will tell him...bye" she put the phone back down on its ringer. She gets up and pops her head out of her office, "Basso, Exstead may I see you in my office for a second?" Jinny and Nate looked at eachother and then went inside. "Okay, Magdas at home sick with Ben and CD is at a trial with her ex-husband for harrassment..Now, the only thing I can do is assign you two a case together.." Jinny gleamed with happines. Nate did as well. "Okay, Cap" Nate said as he walked out of her office, Jinny followed. "Didnt go half bad.." Kate said, as she sat down and put on her glasses.
Jinny couldnt keep her eyes off Nate, she'd smile at him now and then.."Are you..flirting with me, Jinny?" asked Nate..Jinny grinned, "Maybe.." "Dinner" Nate said. "I'll be there" Jinny replied....

"Good" Nate says, "I wasn't going to take no for an answer anyways." Jinny smiles and shakes her head, "So what do we got?"

Nate opens the manilla folder and reads the information on the case. "Ok, we got a suicide on 411 Downer Ave. White female, in her 40s. Apparently she used a gun to kill herself. Her daughter found her in the bathroom."
Jinny puts a hand up to her face thinks to herself 'Oh God No. This is too similar! I can't take this!' Nate notices her reaction, "You ok?" Jinny snaps out of her thoughts and replies "Hmm? Oh yeah, I just, *sighs* umm... nevermind. Let's go." She grabs her jacket off of her chair and heads out the door with Nate right behind her.

The whole time they are in the car on their way to Downer Ave. Jinny is staring out of the window, lost in thought, and debating with herself. 'Should I tell him why I had that reaction? Does he really need to know? What would his reaction be? What would he think, what would he say? Am I ready to tell him, do I want to tell him? I can't tell him, not now at least. ' She has all these thoughts racing through her mind on their drive. She comes back to reality when the car stops, Nate gets out of the car, and comes around to open her door. "We're here" he says.

Jinny smiles slightly at him and gets out of the car. She walks into the house, Nate following. She finds a girl around 14 sitting on the couch, in shock. Jinny flashes her badge.
"SFPD. I'm Inspector Exstead this is my--this is Inspector Basso. Can you please tell me what happened?" The girl looked up, "Yes..y..yes...I came home from school today and I yelled out for my mom..When she didn't answer I thought she was at the store or something.." she began. Nate nods "and.." "Yes well..then I saw something that looked like it came from the bathroom..so i put down my back-pack and went inside and there she was.." The girl began to cry. "I know this is hard for you...Thanks, this does help though.." Jinny said "its hard for me too.." she said lowly..Nate looked at Jinny confused.. "Whats your name?" he asks the girl. She looks up at him, "Im Jenna..Jenna Patterson..My mom was..IS..Marie Patterson.." "Thank you" Nate said with a kind smile...He and Jinny walked out of the house as people in black and white uniforms came in.."My God..why is this happening again?!" she said outloud, not realizing Nate was right by her side. Nate stopped and stopped Jinny, "Come on Jinny..is something bothering you? Inside when Jenna was explaining everything, you said it was hard for you too and now..." Jinny looked up with tears in her eyes "Its like this..."

Jinny then smells something strange and follows it; it leads her into her parents room and into their bathroom. She sees two feet sticking out of the bathroom door, she walks to the door and pushes it open and look. "OMG! NO!" Jinny screams as she sees what is in front of her. "NO! NO! Please God NO!"

::End Flashback::

"Like what?" Nate asks. Jinny comes back to reality and then sighs, "It's like.... it's like..... it's like I can't tell you." "Yes, yes you can, Jinny. You can tell me anything," Nate says reassuringly. "No I can't! Don't push me! This is not one of my favorite places to go. OK? Just drop it please." Jinny looks up at him and her eyes are filled with tears. Nate just nods and heads towards the car and Jinny follows him. Once they are seated in the car Jinny turns to him and says "Look, there are things about me I don't want you to know, things I want you to know and things that I am debating with myself over to tell you or not; I'm debating this? That makes it a maybe, so please.... Don't push it?" "I won't. I promise," Nate puts the keys in the car and starts it up. "Dinner still on?" He asks changing the subject. "Wouldn't miss it." Jinny smiles and replies.

They drive back into the station greeted by Kate. "How are things going??" she asks them. Jinny takes out her notepad, "The woman was Marie Patterson. Her daughter, Jenna Patterson, found her" she replied. Nate takes off his coat and puts it behind his chair. He sits down and goes through some files about the woman. "Anything else, Exstead? How are things going with you and Nate?" "Um..fine. Why?"she answers. Kate shakes her head, "Oh no reason. Just the thought of you working with a different person than Magda..and it being a guy..You two behave yourselves, got it?" Kate joked. "Ha ha very funny" Jinny says, sarcastically. Kate walks into her office and closes the door behind her. Nate looks up, "What was that all about?? I heard it.." Jinny smiles, "Nothing..nothing..So, where are we going for dinner tonight?" she asks, with a slight grin. "My place..if you dont mind.."he replied. Jinny sits down, "Oh..I dont mind at all" She grins. "Great.." "Anyways..what do you got on this case??" Nate goes through some files, "Statements from her neighbors who claim to hear the gunshot..saw it through the window...Where she was and what she did that day..she was home all day so she was capable of doing this, since nobody else was around..Her husband was at work, still didn't recieve the news.." Jinny nods, "Oh..." her voice drifted at the sight of Teddy. He didnt say anything, just walked into Kates office. Jinny clears her throat.Kate comes out of her office and bumps into Teddy. They exchange some words and then he leaves. Kate comes over to Nate and Jinny, "Alright, you guys have done enough for today. Your free to go home" Jinny and Nate both got up, grabbed their jackets and headed to his place for dinner and maybe something more...:D (lol)

Ok, OK, OK...so I'm driving home from school (y'all know me, 80 on the freeway...hehe) and I'm thinking to myself, "Gee, I wonder if they've posted more...hmm, I'll hafta check it out." So then I get home for like 2 seconds then hafta leave to get my contacts, so then I lose one while I'm trying to learn how to put them in my eye, and no one can find it...so then I go directly to rehearsal for 2 hours, so then I get home and read this awesome FF, only to find that CAITLIN, ONCE AGAIN, has left us hanging!!!!!

As Nate and Jinny are walking out of the building and into the parking lot Jinny stops and faces him. "Umm, you know Nate, I think I'm gonna go home first. To change." "Jinny you look fine, just come home with me."Umm, *pauses* well I wanna just get some "stuff" @ home, k? I promise I'll be @ your place by 8." Nate nods and gets in his car and she does the same. They pull out of the parking lot and the same time but then they go their separate ways.

Jinny opens the door to her father's house and looks around. "Good, he's not here," she says out loud. She then heads up the stairs and into her room. She rummages around her room looking for what she needs. She finds them, puts then in her purse and then smiles. "He's gonna have a night he won't soon forget!"

When the clock strikes 8 there's a knock @ Nate's door. He opens in and Jinny comes in and looks around. Nate shuts the door then takes her arm and leads her to the table where dinner is ready.

After they eat, Jinny helps him clean up. As they were in the kitchen, Nate was busy putting everything away. "You like dinner?" he asks, and Jinny nods. Jinny touches his arm and that causes him to stop what he was doing. She looks into his eyes and he returns her gaze. Nate speaks up after a while of staring, "Umm, OK, for dessert I have..." Jinny cuts him off, "Nope. You have me a great dinner, so I wanna give you a great 'dessert'." "Do I even want to think about what you got planned for dessert?" Nate questions. Jinny laughs, "Don't think, I'll show you." She says and then she reaches up and kissed him. he returns the kiss and things quickly heat up and before they know it they're on the couch together. She breaks the kiss then gets up and gets her purse off of the table and reaches into it and takes out a bottle of vodka. "Jinny, aren't you not supposed to have that, let alone drink that?" Nate asks her. "Yeah, but this *holds up the bottle* will make tonight even better." She winks, "You and I both know we want this to be good and this is the way to go." "Jinny, I don;t know... I." "Yes you do. You know, c'mon," she says as she sits back down next to him on the couch, still holding the bottle. "C'mon," she says again as she leans in and kisses him again. She pushes him backwards causing him to lie down, and still kissing, she makes her way on top of him.

Nate and Jinny continue as she starts to un-button his shirt. She quickly tears it off of him and throws the bottle of vodka on the floor making it break and flood all around them. Then, still kissing, Nate leads them into his bed-room and shuts the door tightly behind them....:D

The next morning, Jinny wakes up @ 7:00am to find Nate gone. "Oh damnit!" she says outloud. "Whats wrong, Jinny?" Nate says, walking out of the bathroom already into his work clothes. Jinny smiles, "I thought you were gone.." Nate sits beside her, "How can i just leave you hanging after a night like last night?" he says with a grin. Jinny smiles and leans into kiss him....After that was over, she gives him a big smile as she grabs some of her clothes. "I better be going home now..I need to get dressed for work.."Jinny says. Nate nods, "Alright, I will see you at work.." He then got an idea.."You want to have dinner again tonight?" he asks..Jinny nods, "Sure but this time can we have it at a restaurant..?...And then come back here?"she says with a grin. Nate nods, "Two nights in a row? I can go for that.." He smiles at Jinny as she puts her clothes on and goes home to get ready for work...

"I did clean up the glass from the broken bottle by the way." Nate says in their car ride to the division.

Kate look sup from her desk and notices that Nate and Jinny came into the division at the same time and both of them were smiling. She gets up and walks out of her office. "Good. You're both here. Magda's still home, it appears that she caught whatever illness that Ben had so she's going to be gone for a while. CD's back but I assigned her a case with Inspector. Jackson because you two are on one together." She notices something, pauses and points, "Jinny, didn't...you...wear...that yester-" Then something clicks; she realizes that Jinny and Nate are both all happy and smiling, they came into work together, Jinny's wearing the same thing as she had the day before. She puts her hands up and says, "You know what? I'm not even going to ask, I don't even want to know. Look you two, you got a case to work o so get to it. Don't let whatever happened yesterday or last night or whatever slow you guys down today!" She says that and then she goes into her office and shuts the door behind her. Jinny and Nate look at eachother and he smiles, "Yeah, I really don't think she'd want to know about what happened last night." "Yeah, but I was great wasn't I?"Jinny asks with a sly smile on her face. "Hah! K, let's go. We gotta question the rest of the Patterson family." Nate says as he grabs his jacket and leaves. Jinny picks up the case folder and follows him.

When they pull into the Patterson's driveway, Nate turns off the car and faces Jinny. "You were great last night, without the vodka! Let's keep it that way, OK?" Jinny laughs and shrugs, "I'm always good, you remember that. C'mon" She opens her car door and gets out without answering Nate's question about the vodka.

"Do you have any idea as to why your mother would do that?" Nate asks Jenna.

::Flashback::

"Do you have any idea as to why your mother killed herself, Jinny?" the officer asks her. Jinny shakes her head, "No, no I don't." But inside her head she was screaming at herself *YES! YES, YOU DO KNOW JINNY! YOU'RE THE REASON! You weren't good enough, you didn't try hard enough at what you did. You weren't the perfect daughter! You didn't make her proud!*

::End Flashback::

"Well, she was depressed and all, she often said that she would kill herself but...but we, my family and I, never believed her. We would always laugh when she said that" Jenna answers. Jenna whispers, "I just wish.. I just wish I didn't laugh. I wish I tried harder to persuade her not to say that. I wish..." Jenna stops because the tears were streaming out of her eyes and down her face, she couldn't talk anymore. Jinny felt tears form in her eyes, too. "Ok, Jenna it's ok. We'll talk to you later" Nate says as he gets up from the couch where he was sitting next to Jenna. Jinny leaves the room and Nate follows. He notices that Jinny has been wiping her eyes and that she looked like she might start crying. "Hey," he says as he touches her arm, "hey, are you OK? I mean I know that this is a sad, touching case but something is really bothering you." Jinny looks at him, "Yeah, yeah it is." "Tell me Jinny. Please tell me. What is wrong?" Jinny sighs, "Nate, I am no good at opening up to people, basically only when I am forced to and you're not forcing me and I know that you never will. I just can't tell you." "You can't tell me at all, or you can't tell me now?" "I can't tell you now. Later is a possibility." Jinny says, "OK, so, umm..... should we go question the rest of the family?" "Umm, yeah let's go." Nate responds.

They question the rest of the family and come up with pretty much the same response that they got from Jenna; that Marie was depressed and threatened to kill herself many a time but they never believed her.

Jinny and Nate to back to the division to work and try to make more sense of the case. Soon work ends and Jinny and Nate get ready to leave for their dinner date.

Jinny and Nate walk out of the station. "I will see you in a while, alright?" Jinny says to Nate, with a smile. "Alright, I'll be waiting.."
They each go their seperate ways.

Jinny carefully goes into her dads house, trying not to make any noise. "JINNY GIRL!" her father says with a bottle of beer in his hand. "Oh, oh. This? I will get rid of it..." he begins as he walks into the kitchen. "See? Its gone.." he says, as he pours it down the kitchen sink. Jinny nods "Dad..Hi. Um, I really can't stay..I sorta have a dinner date.."she explains. "Dinner date. Oh...I expect you wont be comming back until tomorrow morning then, huh.." he asks. "Now why the hell would you- - you know what? Forget it. I am an adult and I think I can go somewhere without having my father tag along"she responds. She takes one last look at her dad and jogs up the stairs. She rummages through some of her things and finds the outfit she wore when she went out with Teddy. "Hmm, I though I threw this out a while ago?" she said. She shrugs and throws it out the window. She then finds herself some dressy pants and a matching shirt. "Perfect" she says to herself.....


At home, Nate also gos throuh his stuff. "Alright, now what will I wear..I can't wear a suit cause we're comming back here...I cant make it seem messy, that will be trying too much.." In a few minutes, he finds a pair of jeans and a striped shirt...


In the restaurant, Jinny sits at a little booth in the corner and she sees Nate comming in. She waves to get his attention and he sees her, smiles, and walks over to her. "Hi, Jinny" he says as he sits down on the opposite side of her. "Nate, charmed" she joked. "You look..great" he says as he sees what shes wearing. Jinny grins, "That remark should of been saved for later.."
"Waiter! Menus!" Nate yells at one of the..guys there. "Gosh, what do you have to do to get someones attention around here?" Nate laughs a little and smiles. Jinny returns the smile as they continue with their dinner...



YAY! yay? LOL! CAITLIN! DESSERT IS CALLIN!!!! Remember.. ;)

Jinny grins at him, "I don't know what it takes to get the waiter's attention but you've already got mine." She winks at him. "Oh really?" He asks. Jinny nods. " Well, Jinny, let me tell you, you've had my attention for quite a while too." Jinny quietly laughs, "Come here." She says as she leans across the table and kisses him on the lips. When the kiss breaks he scoots his chair closer to hers and leans in and kisses her for a long time. And they remain to kiss for a while.

Then the waiter appears with their food. Nate breaks the kiss and looks up at him. Out of breath he says, "Umm ... do you think we can get that to go?" He points to the food. The waiter nods and Nate sits there trying to regain his normal breathing patterns while Jinny just rolls her eyes and smiles. "Quite a way to wait for dinner don't cha think?" She says. The waiter comes back with their food all boxed up and Jinny and Nate take the food and get up. He puts on his coat then helps her put hers on, all the while he was kissing her neck and her cheeks. On their way out they can't help but notice all the people in the restaurant looking at them, rolling their eyes and whispering.

Once they get into the car and are headed home Jinny speaks up, "Wonder what they're problem is." "It was us." Nate laughs, "That, if I do say so myself, was a very big PDA!" Jinny laughs, "Well get used to 'em, there'll be quite a few PDA's with me."

Just as soon as Nate opens the door and they are in his apartment, Jinny grabs Nate's shirt collar and pulls him to her and plants a big kiss on him.

She pulls away, "And that was for all the people staring at us tonight in the restaurant" Nate laughs, "Yeah. And this *Kisses Jinny* is for being home, alone and for no one to stare at us tonight." Nate the turns around closes the door and locks it. "Yeah, I don't think anyone would want to stare at us tonight. And I wouldn't want them to either!" Nate smiles and puts his arms around Jiny's waist. She slips out of his grasp and take his hand, smiles, and leads him into the bedroom.

Once there she then pushes him backwards onto the bed, he falls back onto it and she climbs on top of him. They lay there with her on top and begin to kiss again. She reaches down to the bottom of his shirt and brings it up over his head and pulls it off of him. Jinny and Nate continue kissing as she reaches down and unzips his pants. He slowly breaks away and pulls them off, she smiles and they continue to kiss. He makes his way on top of her and still kissing, Nate starts to unbutton Jinnys shirt and rips it off of her. He starts kissing her neck then he works his was down to her stomach. She puts her hand under his chin and brings his mouth back up to hers and they share a long kiss again.

Its really just about how much the person can think of writing or how much they want to write, How much in detail do they want to go, do they want to not do it @ all, or give a good amount of detail or go into way too much detail and freak/gross everyone out. Or whether or not if they want to get some serious TJ-ing for just one post. :lol:

Hey, but that's my input.

If you want to write a fanfic and go all "sex-ed out" then fine by me. You go and do whatever you want. You write the fic as how you want it to be. Some people don't want to go all out and thats fine. It's up to them.

The next day at the station, Magda and CD walk in. "Oh hey guys, I need to talk to you" Kate says as she sees them. "Okay Cap, what is it?" Magda asks. "Well I already put Jinny and Nate together on a case and dont want to do anything to the case by making one of them stop working on it. So they will stay together and you two will be assigned a fresh new case" Magda and CD look at eachother and exchange looks. "Umm..Ok" CD says as she takes some envelopes from Kate. Her and CD start talking about their case as Jinny walks in. She sighs heavily and sits down. She rubs her eyes and gets out some files. "Cap, Nate here yet?" she asks. "Why?" Kate says, interested. Jinny looks around, "Maybe because he has some more information on this..Jenna and Marie?" she says sarcastically. Just then Nate kinda jogs into the station. "Sorry Im late" he says out of breath. Jinny smiles at him and he returns it.

Later in the evening, Jinny and Nate are at the anchorside. "Um we can move if you want.." Nate says, "Oh no. Its alright.." Jinny moves in closer and they begin to kiss. Just then CD and Magda walk in...

Jinny breaks the kiss, "Damnit!" "What?" Nate asks as he looks around but then he sees what was bugging Jinny. CD and Magda had just sat down at a table at the opposite side of Anchorside. "You wanna leave?" He asks. "Yeah, now. I just hope they didn't see that." They grab their coats and leave. Once they are outside Jinny looks at Nate, "Isn't there like a rule or something about you not supposed to hook up with your partner or something like that?" "Is there?" Nate asks. Jinny shrugs, "Maybe, I don't know."

Back at the station, Jinny takes Nate into a corner at the station "Look Nate, you know that I really like you but, at work, we just have to try and like..." Jinny tries to explain "Diss eachothers ideas so they think we really aren't sleeping with eachother?" he adds. Jinny laughs, "Yeah, no romancing during work hours." Nate frowns and Jinny laughs again and then she sees Mag and CD come in so Jinny and Nate sit back down at their desks.

Jinny and Nate talk about their case. "Remember what I told you" she whispers to him. Nate nods and says loudly, "Jinny! Got anymore info on these people?" "You were supposed to have it all, Nate!" she says. Nate gives her a look but Jinny knows he is just sticking to their plan.

Later that night, when it's time to leave work Nate passes by Jinny's desk and gets her attention. "My car?" He asks. "5 minuetes" She replies. Once in his car they head off. "So... umm where to?" Nate asks her. "Movies" Jinny says. Nate raises her eyebrows, "Movies?" He questions. "That what I said isn't it?" She says back. Nate shrugs, "Ok sure, what so you want to see?" "Does it matter?" She replies with a smile on her face. "Why do I feel like I'm a 17 year old guy again?" "Cuz you're going to the movies with your girlfriend but you're not going to actually see the movie," Jinny laughs.

Once in the theater parking lot, Nate turns off his car. Jinny leans over and kisse him. He pulls away. "On second thought you want to scratch the movie and umm.... just stay in the car for a bit?" She asks. Nate simes and nods and leasn back in and their lips meet and lock again.

In a few parking spaces over a car pulls up and two people get out. They walk past Nate's car on their way into the theater. They both see Nate and Jinny in the car. Magda sighs "Some people have no condiserations for others. I mean do they think that we want to see them getting it on in a public place?" She says wihtout knowing that it was Nate and Jinny. They juts looked like two nobodies to her. "Magda, it's in their car, I don't think it matters unless you go right up and stare into the window at them." Gabe replies. "That looks like Nate's car come to think of it." Magda says and she walks a little closer, "It is his car." Gabe laughs, "Well he's getting some with some lady." Madga hits his arm, "Shut up!" Gabe stops laughing and looks into the car window too, "Hey, isn't that.... *he looks again* isn't that Jinny?" "Gabe, don't be stupid Jinny and Nate aren't hook-Wait, it is her!" Magda goes right up to the window and knocks on the glass. Jinny and Nate stop kissing and look at who disturbed their "quality time". Jinnys jaw drops and Nate opens the window. "Umm, hi Mag." He says. Magda just stand there looking at time with just the same shocked look on her face that Jinny had on hers.

Jinny sighs heavily, "This is great" she says. "Jinny! Nate! What the hell are you guys doing?"she asks with her hands on her hips. "Well, didnt you see?" Nate asks embarrassed. "I just cant believe you two! I suppose your sleeping together too!" she says sarcastically. "Magda" Gabe says. "Ya kno wat Mag, your absolutely right" Jinny says as she gets out of the car. Magda starts to back up as Jinny comes closer. "And if you tell a single soul.."she begins. Nate gets out of the car quickly, "Jinny! Stop it!". Jinny sighs and turns around as she rubs her forehead.."Look, he's right..Im..I'm sorry Mag.." she says as she gets back into the car. Magda looks at Gabe as they them both go into the theatre. Nate shakes his head and gets into the car as well. "What were you thinking, Jinny?"he asks her. Jinny shakes her head, "Thats the thing, I dont think I was thinking.." Nate sighs, "Well you wanna go see that movie now then? Since we're busted and all" Jinny laughs a little and smiles. "Sure" she gets out of the car again followed by Nate as they walk into the movie theatre. "Two tickets to..'One Last Chance' please"Nate says to the..ticket-lady. She gives them their tickets and Jinny and Nate walk into the room where the movie is showing. "This seems like a good movie.."Nate says as he starts to put his arm around Jinny. She pushes it away, "There are Magda and Gabriel..so none of this stuff going on..Please.."she says as they get into their seats. Nate sighs, "They already know what going on so we cant hide it anymore.."he says. Jinny just looks at him and focuses her attention on the screen.

About 25 minutes into the movie, Jinny was dazed. This seemed to be her whole life story! A little girl had 2 brothers. They were all a close family, or so they thought. BANG! "OMG MOM!!! NOOO!!!!" Jinny jumped up and shouted as the woman on the screen just put a gun to her head and pulled the trigger.

Nate looks up at Jinny and thinks " MOM? No?" He pulls on Jinnys arm and makes her sit down, she is sobbing. "Hunny, what the matter?"

::Flashback::

"NO!" Jinny Exstead woke up in a cold sweat. She looked at the clock by her bedside table. "Ah great, 3:20 AM." She groaned. She lied back down with her head on the pillow and put her hand up over her forehead. She squeezed her eyes shut but the tears just came. Just then her dad opened the door to her room, "Jinny Girl, it happen again?" "Yeah," She choked back a sob. He came into her room and sat on her bed and put his arms around her. "Same one as before?" Jinny shook her head. "This time, I was there. I was right in front of her and she told me.... *She sighs and tired to not let the tears come again* she told me that...." "What? What did she say Baby?" John Sr. rubbed her back. "She said that I wasn't good enough. I didn't make her proud of me... She.. she said she didn't love me" Then the tears came, they spilled out of her eyes and ran down her face. "No, no no no. Jinny she loved you, you know that. It was not your fault. You hear me?" He grabs her shoulders and looks her in the eyes. "It was NOT your fault!" She nods and looks down at her bed spread, "I hate them Dad. Why won't they go away?" She started to cry even harder and her whole body shook and her dad held her tighter. "I have them too you know." "You do?" She looks up at him and he nods. "But they will go away, with time." He kisses her forehead and hugs her and stays with her until she falls back asleep.

::End Flashback::

Jinny looks at him, "Can we go?" "Will you tell me?" "I want to go ... now." She stands up and walks out of the theater will basically everyone's eyes on her. Nate follows her and they go into her car. Nate faces her and grabs her shoulders, "Jinny tell me. What is it that bothers you so much about the case and the movie.... *she looks away* LOOK AT ME! Please" he begs with tears in his eyes. "I want to help you, Jinny, please tell me. I hate to see you like this. What happened to your mother?" She looks into his eyes... "She ... she... She killed herself" she says and starts to cry.

Nate was shocked, "Oh My God, Jinny..I.." Jinny looked up at him with tears flowing down her face "This is why our case had that strong effect on me.."she said. Nate looked down, "Do you mind if you tell me what happened? I mean, Jinny, I want to help you" "I was 14 years old..I got a good mark on a paper I did at school and I knew my mom loved those kind of things...I yelled out for her, but nobody answered..There was this really strange smell I had no idea what it was..Then..then I saw two feet sticking out of the bathroom..I went in and I thought that she fell and hit her head or something cause the whole side of her head..was open...Then I noticed what the smell was, it was blood..I think I must of screamed because then John came in and pushed me out of the way..Then guys in black and white uniforms came in..They found the gun and put it in a bag.." she took a deep breath "Then they put her in a bag too.." Now Jinny was crying heavily, she didnt care who was staring at her. Nate came closer to her and she leaned on him. "Oh Jinny, I..I didnt know" he said, sadly. "Thats just it Nate, I dont think I wanted anyone to know...."

It was 9:10am in school, Jinnys best friend at the time, Courtney, came over to her. "Jinny, whats wrong??" she asked as she stopped her. Jinny pushed away trying to hide the fact tears were streaming down her face, "Nothing!" She dried her eyes with the sleeve of her shirt and started walking down the hall to her next class. Courtney was frustrated, "Jinny, come on!! We are best friends, we tell eachother everything..." Jinny finally stopped halfway down the hall and turns around angry "Everything? No, I dont think we tell eachother everything! And if we do then I'm sorry but I just broke that cuz I really don't feel like telling you..."

On their car ride home Magda looks at Gabe, "I still think that I shoulda gone out of the theater after her." "Mag, I told you, I think Jinny needed to tell Nate. I don't thinks he wants you there when she tells him." "What is that supposed to mean?" Magda asks. "Well, with what you made her do at the intervention... I just ... ah nevermind. I don't know." Gabe shrugs. Magda decides to let that pass and turns and looks back out the window.

Back in Nate's car, still in the movie theater lot, he looks at Jinny, she had fallen asleep with her head against the seat. Nate smiles and starts up the car. When the engine gets going Jinny wakes up and looks around. "I'm sorry, I didn't want to wake you." Nate says. "What time is it?" Jinny asks. Nate looks down at his watch, "Wow, the movie got out like an hour ago. It's late." "So what did you do for that hour, I mean obviously nothing if we are still in the parking lot." Jinny says. "I was watching you sleep." Nate replies. Jinny laughs and Nate pulls out of the parking lot.

On their way back to his apartment they see a drunk man sitting on the sidewalk with a bottle in his hand and he was leaning up against the building's wall. "Damn, I hate seeing people like that. I mean on the sidewalks or in an alley...." Nates voice trails off as he sees the deathly cold stare that Jinny is shooting him. "Ooooooooookay, I think I'm gonna shut up now." He says and smiles. Jinny shakes her head and smiles also and looks out the window at the guy. She puts her hand on Nates arm and grips it hard. "Hey, hey, hey. Stop the car will ya?" She says in more of a demanding tone than and asking tone. "What? You wanna pick up the drunk guy? Jinny what's up with that?" Nate questions.

"What is up is that that drunken guy is my brother!" Nate pulls over and lets Jinny get out and she walks over to the guy. "John...." Jinny shakes the mans shoulders trying to make him look at her. "Ji-... Jin-... Jinny..." he slurs. "Yeah, it's me. C'mon, let's get you into the car." She bends down and he puts one of his arms around her shoulder and lifts himself off of the ground with her help. He supports himself on her as they walk towards the car. Nate hops out of the car and opens the back passenger door for Jinny and she and him put John in the back of the car. As soon as he lays down across the back seat he passes out. Jinny sighs and shuts the car door and she and Nate get back into the front of the car.

Once they had stopped in front of their dad's home Jinny turned to face Nate, "Thanks, for bringing him home." She smiles. "Hey, he's your brother, I gotta do what I did." He winks and she leans in and kisses him. Their kiss had just began to heat up quite a bit when John woke up and he looked at Jinny and Nate in the front seat. "Hey hey hey," he slurred, Jinny and Nate broke their kiss. "Jinny, why you hooking up with a guy from work again?" Nate looks at Jinny, "Again?" he asks with raised eyebrows.

Jinny gave John a cold stare. "This isn't the time.." Nate looks at Jinny, "Is there something else you would like to tell me, Jinny?" Nate asks, with his eyebrow raised. John sits up more and slurs, "Jin was involved with some ADA..Bloomingdales? Is that right Jinny?" "Blumenthal, John, Blumenthal"she said through gritted teeth. "So anyways, this kid right here? She likes to hook up with ALL the guys from work" "THAT IS NOT TRUE AND YOU KNOW IT!" Jinny snaps at John. Nate was hurt. "Ah shut up Jinny and let me finish.." John began. "Why, just why, do you like to ruin my life? Its already screwed" "Jinny, why didn't you tell me about this" Nate said quietly. "We should of just left him there..."Jinny says outloud. John shrugs, "If you did, then I would of probably--" "SHUT UP JOHN! NOW GET OUT OF THE CAR AND GO!" she says angerly. John gets out of the car and stumbles his way to the door and inside. "JOHN! WHAT HAPPENED?!" Jinny could hear her dad yell as he closed the door.



The whole ride back to her apartment, Jinny just stared out of the window. Nate then shut the engine and Jinny got out. Nobody said a word. 'Should I go back and say Thanks?' Jinny asks herself, but by that time Nate has already left....



"Thank God today is Saturday..I finally get a chance to relax" Jinny says as she gets out of bed and looks at her clock. "10:22..."*AM* She hurried over to the phone to call Casey, she needed someone to talk to ever since last night. "Cas, its Jinny..Hey, could ya meet me at the park in a few, I jus..just really need someone to talk to...Thanks.."



"Wow, Jinny. I had no idea.."Casey told his sister as they sat down on the park bench. "I mean, how could John do that to me? He knows I cant handle a relationship alone.."Jinny says. "But Jinny, come on, you know how John is..." Jinny nods,"And I know how dad is too.." Just then she saw someone comming towards her. That someone was Nate. Casey noticed Nate and said, "That him.." Jinny nods as Nate just comes closer and closer.....

"He's umm ... he's umm..." Casey then has this weird feeling, as if he were attracted to Nate. He then clears his throat. He gets all sweaty and Jin notices, "Oh, Casey...no ... please no!" she says. Casey shakes his head, "I cant help it Jin...." "Well, try to! I mean c'mon... he's....he's..." "Yours?" Casey interrupts and finishes her sentence and Jinny nods.

Nate approaches them and stands right in front of Jinny, "We need to talk." Jinny gives a heavy sigh and gets up from the bench. "K. Umm, Casey, do you mind?" He shakes his head but doesn't meet Nate's gaze, "I'm gonna, I'm gonna get a cup of coffee" He points over to the coffee cart and Jinny nods. She takes Nate's hand and sort of pulls him down on the bench beside her.

Nate looks back at Casey and then back to Jinny, "Is he ok?" He asks, in a softer tone of voice. Jinny sighs, "Umm well..." She steals a quick look at Casey and he's shaking his head and mouthing "no" meaning don't tell him. "Yeah, as ok as he usually is I guess." "You sure?" "Look, Nate, I'll tell ya but only when he wants me to so right now all you getting is what I just said."

"Ok, so umm.... last night." He starts. "I'm sorry i didn't tell you I just.... didn't think it was important anymore." Nate looks at Jinny, "It's not. What's important is you and me! Us! Now! OK?" Jinny looks at him and smiles, "I thought you were gonna be mad." Nate shrugs, "I am kinda, I mean you shoulda told me but that is something that I can live without knowing unless is comes back and affects you now. Then I would need to know." Jinny is close to tears now because of Nate's understanding. "Jinny... I love you." Jinny froze. There they were, those three terrifying words. The three words that she had grown accustomed not to like and to seldom hear.

Nate looked at Jinny but she couldn't meet his gaze. "Jinny..." He said softly. "You don't have to... I don't want to push you into..." She then looked up into Nate's eyes, kissed him and then pulled back. Then Jinny did something she hadn't done in a long while. "I love you too Nate."

The next morning, Jinny and Nate seemed to be flirting a lot. CD walked in and noticed this. "What the hell...?" she said lowly. Nate said something into Jin's ear and she started to laugh. "Mag..come here" CD whispers to her. Magda puts down her pen and follows CD into the girls bathroom. "You see whats going on between Jinny and Nate?" she says as she goes to the sink. "Tell me about it, I saw them making out in his car the other night." CD stopped dead in her tracks, "What??" Magda nods, "She told me not to tell anyone but, now you noticed...And he is your partner, you have a right to know.."

CD grabbed Nate aside "Nathan Basso, who the hell do you think you are?" Nate looked confused, "What??" "I know whats been happening between you and Jinny dont think I dont..." Nate shakes his head, "Look--" "Look nothing...Nate! I.. Nevermind.." CD walks away and rubs her forehead. Jinny looked up at Nate "What was that--" Nate shakes his head, "She was getting all mad about us, I dont know how she would of known! Magda was the only one..." Jinny then got really mad, "No..Magda wouldnt do that to me..She couldnt do that to me..And why the hell would CD care if we were dating or what? I mean, shes only your partner, right?" Jinny asks. Nate shrugs. Jinny sighs, "Look, I really got to go talk to Mag about this now" Nate nods, "And I have to go talk to CD"

"Im sorry Jin, she had a right to know!" Magda tells Jinny. "My G-d Magda!! I told you not to tell anyone!!" Jinny yells. "Im sorry, but why would she care about you and Nate??" Jinny pushes some hair out of her face, "Thats just what I was thinking"

CD paces back and forth "Ok, now Jinny probably knows I have feelings for Nate if she saw me getting all upset over--" "You have feelings for..me" Nate says. CD turned around, she had no idea Nate was right behind her....

CD turns around, "I didn't know you were there Nate..." Nate walks around CD and says again, "You have feelings..for...me" "Give me a break, Nate! I just went through this rough trial with my ex husband and then you walk into my life with your good looks and charm and great personality..." "I...I didn't know" he stutters. "Obviously!" CD snaps back, "But now you do. So what do you want?" "What do I want?" He asks. "Me or Jinny." Nate gets this shocked look on his face. "Umm ... we got work to do. OK? Look I'm sorry about this whole thing." He walks back to his desk and takes out some papers for the case.

On her way out the door that night, when work was done, CD stops by Nate's desk. Jinny has been noticing CD's attitude all day and so she stops what she was doing at her desk and listens to what CD has to say. CD had her back to Jinny so she didn't know she was listening. "You never told me your answer. Me or her." CD asks again. Jinny's jaw drops. Nate looks up from the paperwork on his desk and looks at her, she quickly turns back to her desk and appears to be busy. Then he looks at CD. "Well?" She asks annoyed. "Jinny" He says quietly. CD shoots him a look that could kill, if look were able to do that, and walks right out the door without a glance back. Jinny pushes her chair over to Nate's desk. "What's her problem?" She asks, trying to appear clueless. "Her or you. She wanted me to choose. I said you." "She likes you, but you don't like her. Damn it's Mag and Pete all over again." "What?" Nate asks. Jinny looks down at the floor then back at him, "Wait! You haven't done anything with her ... have you?" Nate shakes his head, "No, no no no no!" Jinny sighs a sigh of relief. "Good. Not Magda and Peter." "Hmm? I'm lost here." Nate says. "Oh nevermind." Jinny switches the subject, "Hey, I was wondering. Casey's car is in the shop so can you pick him up and drive him home?" "Sure." Jinny looks at him and whispers, "ya know I would kiss you for that but we're at work so. No!" He laughs, "Well you'll just have to show your thanks to me ... say, later tonight? After Casey is home." Jinny smiles and winks and pushes her chair back to her desk.

Jinny picks up the phone on her desk and dials Casey's work number. "Hello, San Francisco Police Department, how may I help you?" "Hi, can I have Casey Exstead." Jinny says. She waits a minute for Casey to come to the phone. "Hello?" "Hey, it's me. Umm look, I know I said that I was gonna pick you up from work with your car problems and everything but I can't. So I asked Nate if he can drive you and he's willing to. You up for that?" "umm..." "Look, Cas either Nate or John can drive you." She hears Casey sigh on the other end. "You trust me?" Jinny laughs, " You know I do. Just control yourself. Remember he's mine. Don't even think about it." Casey laughs, "Yeah, well I'll wait outside for him, ok?" Casey says on the other line. "Yep. Bye Cas." "Bye Jin." And they both hang up. Jinny looks over at Nate, "He'll wait outside for you." Nate nods and they get up and ready to leave.

"Why can't you drive him home? Just wondering." "I gotta go back to my Dad's house, help him with something. But I'll be at your place later OK?" "Later ... like... 8 or 9." "Yeah. 'Round there. Bye!" Jinny heads out the door as Nate takes a final look around his desk and sees what he needs to bring home with him.

Nate pulls up to the police office where Casey waiting for him outside. Nate pulls over and Casey gets in the other side. "Hey." Nate says. Casey nods in response and looks out the window, trying not to think about Nate.

Casey then clears his throat and wipes some sweat off of his forehead. Nate glances over and notices, "Casey, are you okay?" Casey quickly looks at him, "Uh..yea fine.." Nate shakes his head, "Alright" Casey closes his eyes as sweat trickles down his face. His palms were sweaty. Nate stops the car, "Okay Casey, here is the deal. We are not going to move one inch until you tell me whats going on!" "I was afraid of that.....Nate, I'm gay" Nate eyes widened, "And you..." Casey nods. Nate put his hands on the steering wheel as his head drooped. He then picked it up and cleared his throat. "Okay then.." He started the engine and drove Casey home. On the car ride back, Casey felt weird. He had just confronted to Nate he liked him. "Nate, I am really sorry but..." Nate nods,"Look, I understand but Casey..." Casey rubs his forehead, "Ok, were here. Thanks..." Casey gets out of the car and goes into the house.

At the station, CD stayed there as everyone left. Kate came out of her office, "You know CD, you can go home now.." CD nods. She was obviously crying. "Whats the matter, CD?" Kate asks. Cd shakes her head and wipes a tear away, "Nothing....Nothing" she grabs her jacket and keys, and heads out of the door. Kate shrigs and follows CD.....

Jinny knocks on the door to Nates house. "Its Jinny" she says. Nate opens the door, with a slight look on his face. "Whats wrong, Nate?" Jinny asked as he let her inside. "Jinny, why didn't you tell me...." "Tell you what?" Nate shakes his head, "The fact that your brother is gay" Jinny looks down, "Oh...well....I guess I just didnt want you to think any less of me. I have a gay brother, my mom killed herself, my dad and brothers are alchoholics..I was too..." Nate sits down, "If I had to think any less of you, it would be now..." Jinny sits down as well, "Nate, I'm really sorry..I.." "Jinny, its alright.." Jinny smiles a little, "Im glad." "But wait, we just have to get a few things straight if we want to be together okay," Nate says. Jinny nods. "We have to be able to tell eachother everything..." Jinny shakes her head, "I guess I've already broke that one....Teddy,my brother,my mom...I didnt want you to know.." "Yea but Jin, we are starting new here...So dont worry about that..." Jinny went over to Nate who was sitting on his couch and leaned on him.....She then gets up and they start to kiss :kiss:

At CD's house, there was a knock on her door. She went to the door, but nobody was there. Instead, there was an envelope that was slid through the mailbox thing on her door. She bent down and picked it up. She brought it into the kitchen and set it on the table. The return address was Paul DeLorenzo. She really didnt want to open it up, but something forced her..She began to read "Dear Candy...."

At Kate's house, her phone rang. "Hello? Amanda!" "Hey mom.." "Whats up, hunny? You dont seem to..perky" "Yea well, I have to tell you something" Kate got excited "What?! You and Barry got that bed and breakfast...?" "No, no. Actually we broke up two days later I left..." "And..." "Mom, women are nice too.." Kate almost dropped the phone... Amanda took a deep breathe "Mom...mom....?" Kate felt her throat tightening on her..."Sweetie..no.." "Yes mom, cant you accept me for once for who I am??" "Amanda, you were lucky I accepted you..then. But now.." Amanda just hung up the phone, she knew her mom wouldnt understand. "Amanda, Amanda?" Kate put the phone down slowly as well....

Jinny looks at the clock beside Nate's bed. "I gotta go..Its 1am.." "Cant you stay a little longer??" Nate asks. Jinny shakes her head, "No, I have to get home to my dad..." Nate sits up, "Jinny, you sound like a little girl. You have to get home to your dad because you 'snuck out' on a date with your so called 'boyfriend'. Jin, your a grown woman..Cant you just stay.." Jinny smiles slightly, "Fine..I just need to call him--" "Jinny..." Nate says. Jinny laughs,"Im just kidding...."

Nate and Jinny had just walked into the building together and Jinny stopped for some coffee. When she was done they waited for an elevator to come. It did and they stepped into it.

Once inside the elevator they realized they were alone. Nate looks over at Jinny, "We're alone you realize that?' He winks and Jinny nods. "So c'mere." He says as he puts his arms around her waist and pulls her to him. "But umm, what if someone comes in?" She asks. "We'll just stop when we feel the elevator slow down." Jinny nods and Nate leans in and kisses her. She puts her arms around his neck and their kiss deepens just a bit.

Just then the elevator slowed down, stopped and the doors opened and before Nate and Jinny could break their kiss, the door opened and someone walked in. That someone looked at them and just sighed and pressed the button to close the elevator doors and then turned around to face Nate and Jinny. "Geezus you two. I'd be more careful if I were you. I mean, it could've been anyone else but me who just walked into that door and saw you two." Magda shook her finger at Nate and Jinny. "You're just so damn lucky that it was me and not someone else. Oh let's say Cap." Jinny smiles, "I know. I know. I know. Sorry Mag." Nate laughs, "It's hard to see each other all day at work and not be able to do anything." "Just be careful. I mean, you two obviously love each other but you can't really date a coworker. So either lay low at work or kiss work good-bye." Nate nods and Jinny says, "OK, Mag enough. we get the point here." Magda smiles and turns as the elevator stops at its destination. The three wait for the doors to open.

Later that day CD and Magda had just returned from questioning some witnesses when she saw Nate and Jinny. Jinny was sitting in her chair and Nate was sitting on her desk and they were laughing. CD took one look at them and her mind was made up. She put the folders on her desk and walked towards Kate's door.

CD walks into Kate's office with a slight look on her face. She was about to tell her what was going on with Jinny and Nate. "Cap, I have something to tell you" CD said. Kate looks up, "All right. . .Is it about...?" CD shakes her head, grins and sits down, "Yeah. Nate and Jinny? They've been fooling around. . . "

~~Kate had a totally stunned expression on her face. "Though this comes as a shock to me, I kinda expected it" CD nodded. "I mean, you know Jinny. She couldnt of kept her hands off of him a minnute." Cd shrugged, "Then why did you assign them on the case together? There are plenty more Inspectors in this division" "But their my cops, CD. I had to do it" CD looked out the window to see Jinny and Nate and then looked back at Kate "Yea well, it might of been the wrong choice. Look at them" Kate stands up and takes off her glasses. She walks over to the window watching their every move. "Enoughs enough. . ." Kate walks out of her office and to Jin and Nate. "I kno whats been going on, dont think I dont. You guys are here to work not to fall in love, not to fool around. I think Im going to have to assign the case to someone else. Your taking your work so lightly and taking eachother so. . .well Im not going to go into that. Enough is enough, all though I expected this to happen I thought work would come first. But since this is effecting your job performance, Im sorry but thats it. Case closed" Jinny glared at Kate, "How dare you. . ." Kate raised her voice, "Jinny, I said thats that!" Nate looked at Kate and sighed. Jinny shook her head, "Then who are you going to assign the case to, Cap?" Kate shrugged, "Maybe I'll take care of it myself" and walked back into her office.

~~Later that day, Jinny asked if Nate would walk her home and he agreed. "Look Nate, I dont know. . ." Jinny said as she looked at the ground. "CD" Nate said. "I saw CD in Kates office with this grin on her face. I bet she told" Jinny shook her head, "But why would she do that to us? We're her friends for crying out loud!" Nate shakes his head, "Look at me Jin, I dont care about CD. I dont care about that anymore. What I care about is you and I. Us together" Jinny smiled from ear to ear and kissed Nate. I guess everything was okay after all. . .
