NBC executives are exploring the option of hiring Ryan Seacrest to replace Matt lauer on the Today Show. Laurer's contract is up in 2013 and he has yet to make a decision on his future. So viewers may start seeing Seacrest appear on the Today show in 2012 and then transition to Laurer seat in 2013.

I don't watch Today or American Idol, so I don't really care what the producers do. If he does get an offer and accept, he may have to quit AI since it's filmed in L.A.
