About time, that sh*T was long overdue
I never could watch the show because Ty Pennngton looked too much like my SLUMLORD LOL
megamanj2004 12-23-2011, 02:39 PM Good riddance to that awful rubbish!!!
Pavan 12-23-2011, 02:49 PM How can deserving families getting new homes be awful though? It's been on for 9 years and 200 episodes for a reason.
tvfreak1987 12-24-2011, 08:06 AM There's no doubt that the show did so much good and helped so many families over the years (they've even came to my area a few years ago)....however it's still beyond time for it to go.
70s show watcher 12-24-2011, 05:15 PM to be honest i didnt even know that it was still on and apperently alot of other people didnt ether

It won its timeslot on Sundays up until prior to last season, so many did know. It was moved to Fridays this season. It'll still air in specials next season.
Heidi Dawn 12-26-2011, 03:45 PM Isn't Ty Pennington joining the show that's replacing 'One Life To Live', called 'The Revolution'? I thought I read that somewhere online.
robyrob 12-26-2011, 05:15 PM apparently not THAT many people knew it was still on - or they probably wouldn't have cancelled it
i stopped watching it when they started showing it on TVLand.

That's one of the main reasons why it will only be back for specials next season.

It aired for 8 seasons in that Sundays at 8pm timeslot, so it never moved anywhere until this season for 13 episodes on Fridays. 8 million people watched last season on Sunday, so majority knew where it was.
Schmoopie 12-27-2011, 12:21 AM Wow, that's surprising to hear! I could never get into it but I had no idea it had run for nine seasons.

Yes that is true

Didn't quite a few of those families have to move because they could no longer afford the property taxes on a bigger house? LOL
The show was too sugary and sappy and personally I am glad it is canceled.

That was only 1 or 2 families out of over 200... If you weren't watching it, why are you glad if it was canceled? Don't understand why if a show does good in the world it needs to be canceled. I've never watched it much either, but I didn't wish it was canceled.

They also had to pay a higher income tax based on the value of the Goods and Services used to refurbish their homes. In many cases they had to sell the house in order to pay these taxes. Game Show Contestants also go through a simular situation, being forced to sell whatever they won in order to give Uncle Sam his cut.

ABC must love him because he has another show starting on ABC called "Revolution" next week
Pavan 01-14-2012, 03:45 PM Solomon, that's exactly why the series is not returning as a regular series. However, Home Makeover will continue on next season with four 2-hour specials--so it isn't completely gone and there is always a chance it can come back as a regular series after that. They are shooting the four specials right now.

So it was because he wanted to do a different show? I figured that had to be it because if something was cancelled u normally don't get rewarded with another show
Pavan 01-14-2012, 03:52 PM ABC was trying him on a few different things. He did a pilot for Great American Auction that aired as a special last month. He did a few specials the last few year's in Ty's Great British Adventure, so they were looking to bring him into something new, and The Revolution is it. But Home Makeover isn't completely over by all means.

Okay? For real. Agreed, totally.

I kinda figured that with Ty Pennington hosting "The Revolution" that he'd have no time to focus on EM:HE as much. After all, "Revo" will be on five days a week and airing in my "One Life To Live" timeslot.
On a slightly different topic, why in the world didn't the show ever switch to high definition? It's 2012, for crying out loud! It would have been cool to see some of those reveals in HD. EM:HE and Let's Make a Deal are among the last few SD holdouts on network television.
