View Full Version : I'm saying goodbye to love...

I tried talking to girls, I've went to internet webpages, and I've even tried to have a Find Me A Girl Party, but the only thing I know about love is...How To Live Without Love.

I'll just be the only one in my family without someone to love but Imaginary.

Guess I am a Chick-Repellent, so this will be my song....

I'm sorry you're having such bad luck and I know this is a cliche but I firmly believe that love happens when you least expect it. Or at least that's the way it happened for me when I met my husband. Took me a while to actually believe that it was happening, but when it did, it was wonderful-and still is!

And I hope this doesn't come across as mean, but the title of your post made me think of a song that I literally just listened to on Youtube. It's called "I'm Through With Love" and Marilyn Monroe sings it in "Some Like It Hot".

But seriously, I wouldn't give up although I know what that frustation feels like.

What kind of girl are you looking for?

Someone that I can talk to about a lot of things and agree 90% of the time or agree to disagree, Any background (Except for the South Asian Region...don't ask), has tolerance to my Religion and/or Politics, and has a car to drive.

I'm in the same boat too Mr.Cleaveland and I'm at peace with it and I'm happy being single the only regret I have is never having kids to raise who would eventually make me a Grandpa.

I don't think people actually get in relationships to "fall in love" and have a committed relationship anymore, I think people just get into relationships now so they can play the blame game, get their backstabbing friends involved, cheat and turn their lives into some kind of Mary J. Blige song with all the drama and heartbreak.

Mrcleveland how old are you? If it makes you feel better I know several who married first time in their 40's. I understand how you feel because I am 40, never married and childless. I have what some consider "unrealistic" standards and I am often told I will be alone. I want to find someone but would rather be alone than with someone who has standards I don't like. II dont think my standards are that unrealistic but if it means being single I can handle that. I like the idea of adopting a special needs child in a few years if I don't meet mr right.

I know how it feels to be discouraged by not finding love, or love in general; but it will happen. Love finds you, not the other way around. When you, least except it, that is when you find someone special. So my advice, continue living your life, and enjoying it. And, stop worrying, if you ever going to find someone. Concentrate on other matters:)

I agree with Tara. Don't give up.

yes, I agree with Tara. If you've read some of my other posts about my experiences with on-line dating sites (for those who haven't; I've been scamed on them, more than once) you can understand that I was discouraged and starting to think that I would NEVER find someone. But now, I've decided to start trying again and I KNOW I will!

When you least expect it, Paul, love will come along and work its magic. Don't give up. I'm sure it's terrible to feel lonely. I've had the good fortune to have the same man in my life for 27 years. I found him young, and I thank God for that. Everyone's life runs different, and yours is on another course as mine, of course. Hold on, and don't give up the ship. You're a nice guy. Too nice to spend your life alone. It will happen. :)

Today...I was supposed to have a Singles Party...But I cancelled it because not many people claimed the invitations.

But this was after I made the boycott on relationships.

I actually was in the exact same spot not that long ago. I was so tired of all the dating frenzy (and my little sister being soooo happily married was just irritating). I quit dating and embraced being single. Wouldn't you know it? After I'd completely given up was when I found the right guy. I NEVER would have expected that we would meet as we did - it just happened. Love doesn't happen when you go looking for it. My experience is that it happens when you stop looking for it.

Best of luck. Don't give up hope, but don't wear yourself out either. Good things come to those who wait.

I have to agree with you on how love happens when you least expect it to. It happened to me a year ago when I found and ex-boyfriend I had from High School on the internet and we got to talking again and before I knew we got back together. Though I still have issues with trust with him, I know in my heart that I will always love him. My heart has always belonged to him even in the 8 years that we had been apart.

I'm not sure I really believe the whole it happens when you least expect it in all cases. For instance if you are older you have to actively seek out single people. Everytime I wasn't seeking out anyone I didn't find anyone. Plus, if you are seeking specific partners you have to seek them out.

I've had people tell me different things. I know I am a shy person and if I want a date, I will actively have to seek one. But there have been a few incidences in which the guy found me. So who knows

MrCleveland, i understand your frustration. I've given up on women too and i know you read my topic about i want a white woman instead of a black woman. I would love to have a white woman or a black woman. It doesn't matter to me but the problem that i have with women no matter their race is that it seems a lot of them are golddiggers and as*holes. I'm a nice guy and i got 2 jobs. I have no kids and i've never been to prison. I know women want a nice guy who has a job but it seems they don't want me. I'm a handsome guy and i've been able to get women before but i don't know what the problem is now because i've been without a woman for at least 9 years. I don't like admitting that i've dealt with prostitutes but that's what i've been doing for awhile and i'm not gonna do it anymore because it's a waste of money. If women don't wanna be with me, that's their problem and i'm not gonna chase them anymore. Women want men to chase after them anyway because you rarely see women approach men unless the men have a nice car, nice clothes, jewelry, nice house or nice apartment that the women are interested in because they figure when they see that, the man has a lot of money LOL.

Before i didn't understand why some men go to strip clubs and buy porno movies and porno magazines but now i understand why. They do those things because they can't get a girlfriend because a lot of women are as*holes. I do know there's some men that are as*holes too but women need to stop thinking that every man wants to only have sex with them because that's not true. I would like to have a girlfriend to go to a movie and a restaurant with, a woman to go to the park with, a woman to go on a vacation with, a woman to go grocery shopping with.

There's a black woman i used to work with in Cleveland and she's married with 3 kids but her and i have reconnected through Facebook and i was glad i saw her on Facebook because i hadn't talked to her since the late 90's. She told me recently she wants to divorce her husband and she wants to be with me. I was so glad to hear that because i wanna be with her too. She's not like your typical as*hole black woman because she's not selfish, she isn't a golddigger, she doesn't have a attitude. We've kissed before and it was good. She told me she wants to have sex with me and i told her the same thing. So i'm gonna hopefully see her in May or June of next year and i can't wait. I told myself i would never get married but i would marry her because that's how much i love her.

You're wrong isiah. I approached my boyfriend, and trust me, it wasn't about his car or money - I thought he was one of the funniest guys I'd ever seen and went right up and introduced myself to him. It was very out of character for me because I can be rather shy, but I wasn't with him. I was instantly comfortable with him and he felt the same way with me. It just happened. There are nice girls out there who aren't gold diggers, and aren't already married.

I'm nice, not a gold digger and am not married. It really is hard finding quality people as you get older, but even at my age (40) I am still finding the guys I want: never married childless Christian (preferably Catholic) men who want to marry. Sure, I won't have as big of a selection but so what, one only needs one person. I think too many people settle for something they don't like and end up miserable.

Well IllinoisTVFan...

I have NO children...and don't have much intention for children, I'm Diet Catholic (Lutheran), and now...I'll just let the lady look for me...not myself look for the lady.

That's interesting because I have seen more men look for a woman than vice versa. I am seeking out men but have this feeling I'd rather be alone than chose someone who's bad for me.

Well, I for one don't believe love happens when you least expect it, nor do I believe you can find it only if you look for it. I stopped looking for love when I was 26 because I damn near got in trouble for trying, and decided I should try to let it happen. But I also realized if it didn't happen by the time I was 28 it wasn't going to happen at all.

Guess what; It didn't happen when I was 28 either. I took the hint.

Love happens when you look for it. I know and know of many couples who found each other via dating sites, ads, singles nights in clubs, blind dates, etc. Quite a few even married. They were all looking for love.

Nicky was my first serious girlfriend. She and I didn't start dating until I was 28, at which point I had all-but given up on love. Fast-forward three years: we've now been married a year and a half and have a wonderful infant son.

Don't give up on love. Don't ever close your heart.

I can relate to what you're going through, too. Just about everybody I knew was getting married and having kids. It bugged me for a while but it got to where I just figured there was nobody out there for me, and I just accepted the fact that I was never going to get married. After a 5 year off and on relationship finally ended, I had had it with men, so I just didn't bother trying to meet somebody else. I was alone for 6 yrs. Then as others have been posting, met my current guy when I wasn't even looking. He just started talking to me. 16 months later, and we're still together. This is the longest I've been with somebody continously in my whole life. So don't give up, it will happen to you.

I've had people recommend that I go on dating sites. I tried them out when they had "free weekends" and once I saw all the profiles, I knew I had just as much of a chance as I do any other time.
