Over at the stevehoffman.tv website "emjayen" posted some information he had from a customer service representative at MPI. I have nothing to do with this information other than providing a link to the thread and what he posted about what he was told:

Regarding Disc replacement, MPI replied today saying...

"If you can send me your address, we will send out a new copy. We are aware of the problems, and the new units are being manufactured.
Thank you
Niki
MPI Customer Service. "

Not sure if this means they are replacing Discs 1, 2, 3 & 15.
Make sure to fill in this form at...

Chris

I emailed her and this was the response I received:

Hello,

We are aware of the problem and are having new discs replicated. If you can mail us back your defective discs, we will send out replacements.

Our address is

MPI

16101 S 108th Ave

Orland Park, IL 60467

Please put a note in the package w/ the problem, your name and address, and we will send out your new dvd's.

If you have any questions feel free to call me at 800-323-0442.

Now my concern and question is are they fixing all discs? What if I send out my discs, they send out 1 fixed and keep the rest?

Niki never asked me to mail discs back.
Quite frankly, you shouldn't have to spend any money to do so.
If they want a copy of the receipt I paid for, I would gladly scan it & email it.
I will tell them this if they ask.
I will keep you posted.

ChristTV thanks for the updates and providing that email of contact.

I might give them a call tomorrow and get more information from them. I'll post back on what they will say. I'm hoping I don't have to send out my discs without them fully knowing which ones are going to be fixed, which is my biggest concern.

Hey everyone it has been a long time since I have posted. I am really upset at the lack of effort on this box set. I have emailed Niki regarding my problems. My disc 3 does not work at all on top of the problems mentioned. Tomorrow after work I plan to go through the whole set to see what else is not working. Anyone get any satisfaction yet?

Received my replacement discs yesterday.
Discs 1-3 have been corrected.
Disc 15 is not corrected.
The Missing Pair of Pants script is still Alice's Birthday.
I've emailed Niki @ MPI Customer Service back & asked if they will be
replacing this disc or at least making all 3 scripts online.

.... the saga continues.

Thanks for the update ChrisTV!

I will be calling them tomorrow to see if they can send me replacements without me sending my discs, but if they don't I still want the replacements especially disc 3.

As for disc 15 it appears perhaps that they might have to spend a chunk of money trying to fix that menu, unlike discs 1-3 which is more of a technical flaw within the coding.

Is the "Ring Salesman" remake still on disc 1?

Yes Bill, the Es Sullivan "Ring Salesman" remake is still on disc 1.

I emailed Niki & she emailed me back....

Hi Chris,

Yes, they did do a replacement disc for 15. That problem was found after the other discs were done. I will get a # 15 out in the mail for you today.

Sorry about that.

Thanks

Niki

So all discs are replaced. I just hope that not only is the "Missing Pants" script on there, but that they are readable.

Fingers crossed!!

I received my disc replacements today, pretty fast work on MPI's part. Happy that Disc 3 loads perfectly now.

Disc 15 is fixed. No repeated scripts. Except the text is still small to read clearly (I could make out a small portion of the words) on the screen. MPI should have made a zoom feature on the scripts feature to make the text bigger.

I contacted MPI about getting replacement discs as I feel like everyone else that we should get what we paid for. I was told that I have to send back the defected discs first, once arrived things will be processed and then I will be sent replacement discs.

Not sure how I want to respond to this one. Like everyone else I paid damn good money for this set and why should I spend one more dime of my money to get what was their mistake and screw up to begin with?

Hi,

I agree with you 100% on principle.

I sent my discs back and have received replacements. The cost to me was $1.68 in postage. The amount I guess is not relevant but the principle is..... However, that will probably be forgotten 2-3 years from now when you play the DVD's and have to deal with the issues on disc 1,2, and 3 [and 15 I guess?]. So my opinion is send them back, the future you, will be glad you did.

I know you're right, and when I wrote that it was just yet something else from what was otherwise not-a-great-day on Monday. It is the principle of the thing. Plus, the one thing I am worried about is if the discs are lost in shipping to MPI, then what happens with the replacements? I have not done anything yet, I can't decide what to do. What exactly is it that is wrong with discs 1 and 2 again?

That was my fear too of what if the discs get lost in the mail but I took a chance cause disc 3 had a serious glitch problem.

@Benno - Discs 1 & 2 - you have to wait about 20 seconds for the music play around 1 time & then you can access the menus. Disc 3 just starts on "The Prowler" bypassing the menu. Once The Prowler starts then you can press menu & everything is ok.

Thanks ChrisTV! If that's the only problems on discs 1 and 2 then it is not a problem for me. In almost all cases I put a disc in and then get a drink or something so no biggie there. The 3rd disc starting on The Prowler and then having to hit the menu button did not bother me at all when I watched the
3rd disc, and as for the problems on the scripts I don't care about those. In that case I probably won't send mine back.

All I was concerned about was if a wrong show was included or not included as I did not watch all the skits on the discs. I thought maybe I missed part of the discussion. If those are the only glitches then I'm not worrying about it and take back my previous comments!

Thanks again!

If the discs getting lost in transit is a concern [wasn't for me, not in the least] then take out insurance. $80 in insurance runs a dollar or so. If lost then $80 will cover replacement cost from amazon. Or if you have the knowledge and tools back up the DVD's first.

There are so many minor annoyances in life for which nothing can be done, why live with ones that you can?

EDIT: Now $60 on Amazon, so insurance now probably only $1

Has anyone purchased the set recently? I would like to know if the problem has resolved or if I will still have to send back certain discs, before I purchase set.

I wouldn't know the answer but I would recommend emailing Niki Jellema at MPI

njellema@mpimedia.com

Ask her if there is a UPC barcode that will tell you which boxset is the corrected versions.

If she can't give you an answer trying emailing them through their site contact form.

I would also email amazon.com and asking them the same question.
