It's okay...but it should've been animated.
It's like making the movie "Yogi Bear" by having Yogi all CGI and stuff.

I liked it. There are far far far worse cartoon characters turned live-action movies out there. I thought all the actors were perfectly cast- Shelley Duvall as Olive Oyl, Paul Smith as Bluto.

Mistake No. 1: Making it a musical; Harry Nillson's songs were awful.
Mistake No. 2: The mechanical horse race was just plain dumb.
Aside from that, the casting was perfect and the kidnapping of Swee' Pea made an interesting plot. It was fun seeing Ray Walston as Poopdeck Pappy--and ironic when you consider that, on TV, both Walston and Williams played aliens from outer space! (They even shared the same initials!)
