According to the administrator of the Facebook page that was set up to get season 4 of The Donna Reed Show released his sources have indicated to him that December 13, 2011 will be the big day!

The cover art is here and it's just as gorgeous as I expected. Puts all the Virgil releases to shame!

Why does it say "the lost episodes"? Maybe this will be a selection of 4th season shows, not the complete season.

The term "lost episodes" is misleading to some people. It refers to the fact these episodes have not been syndicated in over 30 years. Rest assured, it is the COMPLETE Season Four and not a collection of random episodes.

Good news, but will MPI continue with the rest of the series?

Season 5 is guaranteed sometime in 2012. As for Seasons 6-8, they are owned by Sony, not the Reed/Owen estate (who own S1-5) and so far Sony has only licensed properties to Shout Factory. They have never done business with MPI to my knowledge. So, there is no guarantee the final three seasons will come out. However, anything is possible and perhaps MPI will contact Sony and express their interest.

Finally season 4 is coming. The wait is almost over.

I'll be happy with the first five seasons. But I won't lose sleep over the rest.

Glad to hear it will finally be released. Love this show, although it was better before Shelley left.

I hope MPI get Paul and Shelley to do commentary on select episodes. Maybe even get Patty to sit in too and share her memories since it's doubtful we'll get seasons 6-8.

Really looking forward to Season 4. Keeping fingers crossed we'll hopefully see Seasons 6-8 done as well. Such a great show!

So we Donna Reed Show fans should consider seasons 1-5 "complete" (and I use that word loosely) if 6-8 have no chance in hell of ever being released.

It would be nice if Mary and MPI remaster the first 3 seasons like what they're doing to seasons 4 & 5. I'm sure some of us wouldn't mind double dipping if we get these cleaned up and unedited (some season 2 had syndicated episodes).

My Donna Reed Show Season 4 DVD boxset has arrived via Amazon. I can't wait to see the episodes for the first time in ages in pristine DVD quality and those glorious special features with Paul & Shelley. Now we need 1 more season fans of D.R.

MPI should've been the company to release this show in the first place imo.

After seeing what a fantastic job MPI has done, I agree that it would have been nice had they released this show from the beginning. Then we would have had nicer cover art and consistent packaging on the first 3 seasons.

Better late than never though, and this is definitely my favorite DVD set I've bought all year. I can hardly wait for S5!

I love the season 4 screenshots

I really hope after season 5 is released MPI and Mary Owen would go back to season 1, 2, and 3 and start over.

MPI has done a wonderful job with a boatload of special features, all uncut episodes, and the picture quality/sound is excellent compared to the earlier seasons released by Arts Alliance America/Virgil. I liked how MPI even show the screen gem logo at the end of the episodes making it more complete for the fans instead of abruptly cut off like for example season 1.

I doubt we will see a re-release of S1-3. The bigger question is whether or not Sony will eventually let S6-8 out of the vaults for a price that MPI can afford. I know they have not done business together before but I cannot see the point in Sony hoarding around 100 B&W sitcom episodes they have no plans in releasing themselves or even syndicating.

Here are more screenshots I just uploaded to my site (the rest of the site is down for maintenance right now).

More Season 4 screen captures. (http://www.donnareedshow.com/season4page.html)

I'm not interested to have DVD's, but if Antenna TV or Me-TV would air this series I'd probably tune in now and then.

I must say I am really enjoying season 4, especially since they are all first viewings for me, MPI did an excellent job, so please support the release so we difinately get season 5 in 2012.

I am currently at disc 2 episode 6, so of the 14 episodes I watched so far, each disc contained one absolutely complete episode including sponsor billboard, original commercials, next week sponsor bumber and ABC production logo at end. You can't get more complete than that!

I loved the extras and of course the best seeing Paul and Shelley together, I have loved Shelley since discovering her on "One Day At A Time", I also have always loved Sandra Dee and loved the story from Paul teasing Shelley "CCOSD". After being a fan of Shelley's for years, I finally got an additional answer as to why?

Now for you experts, since I am not that familiar with the show, it's production or history. In season 4, the living room set is obviously "The Jeannie House", when both seasons were in production, did Donna move and how was Shelley's absence starting in season 6 explained?

They did a similar thing with the Mothers In Law DVD, if I recall one episode on each of those discs includes sponsor tags as well. Makes me wonder though if maybe they could have done more episodes in that fashion, why stop at just one per disc? Having all the episodes with sponsor tags would be preferred, but I suppose a few are better than nothing.
