"Jersey Shore" Scores Biggest Season Premiere Numbers in MTV History

Those who are wishing that "Jersey Shore" would go away are going to have to wish harder: A total of 8.8 million viewers watched the reality show's Season 4 premiere, making it the biggest season premiere in MTV history.
While it bested the Season 3 premiere (which nabbed 8.45 million viewers), "Jersey Shore's" season premiere numbers were not the biggest for a single MTV telecast.
That distinction goes to the fourth episode of Season 3 (in which Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi was released from jail) — that one had 8.87 million viewers.
The following week grabbed 8.83 million, making this Season 4 premiere the third most-watched telecast in MTV history.
