In English, my teacher said "if you don't know whether it's I or me when grouped with another object/person, take it out until you're just left with I or me."

"Looks like it's just I" makes no sense, don't you agree?

Therefore, Kelsey Grammer is right with his grammar, and it's just you and me.

In this case with the verb 'to be', the nomnative case is used. The pronoun 'I' is the predicate nominative.

Have you heard anyone say "It is I" or perhaps on the phone say "This is he" or "this is she"? These are correct. It is awkward only because it is a common error to use the objective pronouns after the verb 'to be'. ("It's me."it's her" "it's them") although sounding correect because of it's popular usage is actually incorrect)

Pluralizing the predicate doesn't change the case of the pronouns. "It's you and I" is correct. So is "It's we" or "It's they" (sounds funny but it's right)

Frasier should have known better.

Some teachers often use that "remove the other noun or pronoun" test and neglect to teach actual rules of grammar. "looks like it's just I" is correct grammar (as far as the pronouns, anyway), even though it sounds odd.

Actually, the proper sentence would have been:
"It looks as if it's just you and I"
