View Full Version : Is there an Unsolved Mysteries soundtrack? 1990 UM fan 07-30-2011, 11:05 AM If there isn't, there should be. Orange_Sody_84 07-30-2011, 02:02 PM We all probably wish there was. can you believe the man who composed for UM used to do New Age music?? talk about a contrast! :/ I refuse to watch the Spike UM because all of the segments are cut, the music & graphics suck, and god bless Farina but he is dull as a host. Apostapler 07-30-2011, 04:32 PM I recently learned how to "take out" vocals in music and leave the soundtrack...using a program called audacity that's free. I wonder if it would work for the UM music. It would be horrible quality because the original movie recordings were horrible quality, but it might work. 1990 UM fan 07-30-2011, 11:48 PM I don't care for the new music, the 1987-2002 stuff with Robert Stack is what I'm referring to. A soundtrack definitely should've been made. asmitty 07-31-2011, 12:28 AM There are a couple of older UM music tracks available on iTunes. Not sure if any of them are what you're looking for but they are there. Just search for unsolved mysteries in the iTunes store. ILikeTurtles 07-31-2011, 04:20 PM I posted this thread about a month ago with no luck. It doesn't look like there is an album or even downloadable content from the segments. It's really sad because I loved the music they used back in the late 80's. Kriz 05-25-2013, 05:16 AM Hi 1990 UM fan, I found out the Theme music's composed by Mchael Boyd and Gary Remal Malkin and as for the rest of the music Gary Malkin again comes up in the credits for 1990 episode. Yeah there's no album, Um's not a film but there's plenty of Gary's work on youtube Skyspy 05-25-2013, 06:10 AM Goodness I hope not. As much as I love the show, I HATE the music. Imagine going to sleep to that at night! :eek4: Allierain 05-25-2013, 03:20 PM Someone should rip it and try to remix it, do something funky with it.... Or not. :) Heh. Anywho, I think if you really wanted to you could rip the music from....ahem...sources for your own personal soundtrack. We could whip one up for the underground UM Fans, with full credit given. skypilot 05-25-2013, 04:57 PM i've toyed with the idea of making a 'fan inspired soundtrack' to some of my favorite unsolved mysteries episodes. i did one for the patricia meehan (http://unsolvedmysteries.wikia.com/wiki/Patricia_Meehan) case Blackout 05-25-2013, 05:44 PM I don't care for the new music, the 1987-2002 stuff with Robert Stack is what I'm referring to. It's all in-house music that was produced (which is why they were used so repeatedly over the years) and Cosgrove owns the rights, so it's highly unlikely they will ever become available on iTunes or something. You can try to rip audio and remove vocals off cases posted online, but a lot of the video of UM out on the internet is very low quality. The best bet anyone really would have is to take the DVD releases, rip the audio/video in high quality, and edit/attempt to remove vocals from cases/songs people like. Kriz 05-25-2013, 06:37 PM Hi I composed a track called Redwood around this time last year which has a similar Gothic vibe to UM (I was watching it a the time) Most of my music is more New Age though but this track would work well for a fan inspired soundtrack. Kriz 05-25-2013, 06:42 PM Ahh but Gary Malkin composes mainly New Age stuff and of the lighter middle of the road style to boot. I love Eno etc and his stuff (Gary) is perhaps a little to bland but his piano tracks are great and they do remind me of his work on Unsolved Mysteries. Kriz 05-25-2013, 07:18 PM P.S. Perhaps a soundtrack to a specific case is a little disrespectful to those involved as well as being too obscure for most fans, However an unsolved mysteries soundtrack inspired perhaps by the early years 1987-2002 or Robert Stack era is a great idea. Kriz 05-25-2013, 07:22 PM There is no Unsolved mysteries Soundtrack on Itunes. skypilot 05-28-2013, 01:05 AM P.S. Perhaps a soundtrack to a specific case is a little disrespectful to those involved as well as being too obscure for most fans, can you please explain how a soundtrack to a specific case is disrespectful to those involved? Kriz 05-28-2013, 05:42 PM can you please explain how a soundtrack to a specific case is disrespectful to those involved? O.K. No one wants a Horror movie soundtrack to a case that's quite personnel to them. The Show does help solve crimes and i'm sure the Mystery aspect to the cases and atmosphere are all part of it's appeal but it's also important to look at the issue from the family's standpoint as well. As for obscure well that speaks for itself skypilot 05-28-2013, 06:47 PM O.K. No one wants a Horror movie soundtrack to a case that's quite personnel to them. As for obscure well that speaks for itself i see what you mean now though i'm not sure whether you are aware that this sort of thing happens all the time- whether it's authors writing books inspired by such cases or filmmakers making movie versions of a case. how do you know no one wants it? also, i never said this was a "horror movie soundtrack" but simply a soundtrack for that specific case. Hi Skypilot, Horror movie soundtrack or any soundtrack would probably be seen as exploitative by those closest to the case. When i composed a track in 2011 and it had a scary vibe to it i called it Redwood (After Redwood in California) which was one of the locations of a case but i was sure to make sure i didn't mention a specific case as the track was really inspired by the overall scary atmosphere of the show and i needed a name. As far as this no one wants it because it's too obscure, Well i'm a huge U.M. fan and one of the many episodes i dowloaded was Patricia Meehan (The name rang a bell) and for the life of me i can't remember anything about it So if a huge devoted fan like me can't remember then why would the general public be interested, They probably have never heard of Unsolved Mysteries let alone Patricia Meehan. So that's it just a matter of being a bit more sensitive. Sounds funny coming from me i'm known for speaking my mind and not tact or sensitivity. http://www.sitcomsonline.com/boards/images/icons/lol.gif/bmi_orig_img/lol.gif skypilot 05-29-2013, 10:57 AM Hi Skypilot, Horror movie soundtrack or any soundtrack would probably be seen as exploitative by those closest to the case. Hi Skypilot, Sorry i think there's been a misunderstanding, I thought you were doing a soundtrack on a girl who was murdered but i watched the episode last night out of curiosity to find it was an amnesia case. So that's why i brought it up Horror soundtrack. I still don't think any particular story warrants a soundtrack but that's just my personal opinion. Once again i'm sorry just goes to show you should never make assumptions. skypilot 05-29-2013, 06:34 PM Hi Skypilot, Sorry i think there's been a misunderstanding, I thought you were doing a soundtrack on a girl who was murdered but i watched the episode last night out of curiosity to find it was an amnesia case.
