View Full Version : If you have any Columbia House Tapes Please Read & Answer
Chad Palmer 07-10-2001, 01:00 AM I thought it'd be a good idea to start a thread like this. As someone asked earlier, Columbia House sometimes releases all episodes of a series and sometimes just releases a certain # of volumes. Anybody out there who is familiar with their sets, please post how many episodes the various series have. I'd be espically interested to know how many volumes are in their "I Dream of Jeannie" and "Beverly Hillbillies" sets. Here are the ones I know of:
I Love Lucy- 60 Volumes, All Episodes (Now re-releasing on DVD)
Gilligan's Island- 20 Volumes
The Flintstones- 20 Volumes
Andy Griffith- 20 Volumes, maybe more in the future
I don't know if they are Columbia or not but my mom gave me two classic '30s "Our Gang" tapes in glorious B/W.They only have one on one tape though.I hope that helps!
Family Ties - 10 Volumes
Laverne & Shirley - 10 Volumes
The Incredible Hulk - 10 Volumes
Sanford & Son - 29 Volumes
Soap - 23 Volumes (entire series)
The Jeffersons - 11 Volumes (and counting?)
Good Times - 23 Volumes (all episodes except 1 I think have been released)
TV Guy 07-10-2001, 05:37 PM I bought the entire "Brady Bunch" set a few years ago, and it was 10 volumes. I don't know if they've added any more volumes since then.
dawsongirl 07-10-2001, 10:56 PM Every Monkees episode is included. What really suckes is that there are only 10 volumes of Adam-12. 44 episodes? Ripoff.
EKWROCKS 07-11-2001, 12:41 AM I like to know if they sell Just The Ten Of Us tapes!! if u know e-mail me or post a reply!! How much did the brady bunch sereis cost? Id be interesting in knowing!! thanks
Chad Palmer 07-11-2001, 01:39 AM I can answer part of your question. Typically they charge $4.95 for your first volume (plus shipping), then $19.95+shipping=24.95 for each subsequent volume. They usually ship one every 4-6 weeks. If you ask they WILL allow you to buy an entire 10 volume series at once. Doing it this way costs about $200 if my math is correct (they charge the same prices as above, but reduce the shipping to a flat $15 rate)
dawsongirl 07-11-2001, 08:48 PM So are you saying that if I called CH and asked them to send me the entire A-12 library, they would for $200?
Chad Palmer 07-11-2001, 10:24 PM Yes.. According to their customer service department. Here is the e-mail I got:

Dude111 10-08-2017, 01:01 PM I had a columbia house tape of ALL IN THE FAMILY one time.. It had 4 episodes on it and was horrible!! (1995)
DIGITAL VIDEO....... I dont wanna see a show I love and remember IN ANALOG like that, does not look good at all!!!!!
Thank goodness all my star trek tapes ARE NOT COLUMBIA HOUSE and were done in the 80s!!! (Paramount home video)
I guess I cannot help. I don't collect videos or CDs of old TV shows, but it seems there is quite a bit I don't understand and will keep an eye on this thread to learn about.
"Volumes"? It seems it means something different than what it would mean in any other context. Does "Volume" refer to each tape or CD?
Columbia House used to sell VHS tapes of series on an installment plan. Each "volume" would contain a couple or three episodes. The first volume would be cheap, then they'd send another every few weeks, at a higher price.
This is a 16-year old thread that someone has revived, and Columbia House has been through bankruptcy and fraud investigations since then. They don't seem to sell tapes any more, and I can't imagine any professional company still does. I'm not even sure if it's the same company anymore, as it seems the name is just licensed to some other company.
Now that is really interesting. I did not think that tapes are NOT sold anymore.
Does it mean that "Unprofessional" companies only sell them?
