View Full Version : Beloved Brady Mom Florence Henderson Admits To Cheating On Her Husband With NYC Mayor
Brian Damage 06-25-2011, 08:24 PM Florence Henderson is no Carol Brady.
The 77-year-old actress, who portrayed the Brady Bunch matriarch, says she got crabs after a fling with former New York City Mayor John Lindsay in the 1960s.
In her new memoir, Life Is Not a Stage, Henderson says she cheated on her husband after the also-married Lindsay put the moves on her at the Beverly Hills Hotel, according to Reuters.
"I was lonely," she writes. "I knew it wasn't the right thing to do. So, what did I do? I did it." Henderson then recalls waking up the next morning at home and seeing "little black things" crawling on her bed and body. After a call to the doctor, Henderson found out she had pubic lice.
Lindsay, who was the mayor of New York from 1966 to 1973, sent a note of apology and flowers. "Guess I learned the hard way that crabs do not discriminate but cross over all socioeconomic strata," she says. "He must have had quite the active life. What a way to put the kibosh on a relationship."
Lindsay died in 2000.

McGillicuddy 06-25-2011, 11:11 PM I'm Shocked!!
Well, at least she didn't let things get out of control with Barry Williams, who had a crush on her and took her out on a date!
old grouch 06-26-2011, 09:22 AM Say it ain't so, Flo. That's some very un-Brady like behavior.
cleverfun3000 06-26-2011, 09:30 AM Say it ain't so, Flo. That's some very un-Brady like behavior.
She is NOT the only former Brady Bunch member thats participated in very "un-Brady" - like behavior. I think it started with the shock, disgust and disappointment that the father, (Mike Brady) was gay.
McGillicuddy 06-26-2011, 01:57 PM Will the "Brady" scandals ever end? If I log on here one dayand fine that Ann B. Davis reveals in her memoirs that she had a tryst with Tiger, I'm going to drop my membership with Sitcomsonline!

So that's why Tiger disappeared?
Retro4Life 06-26-2011, 05:39 PM Flo? Crabs? TMI!!!!!
Yeah, I can't honestly believe that there wasn't a less cringeworthy way of saying that; for instance, using "pubic lice" as they did just a little bit further down. Really a gross way of expressing the affliction.
As to the point of the article, it's disheartening but for me it's in the very distant past. She admits it was foolish and I doubt it's something she's done on a regular basis in her life.
I still like her and I'm sorry to hear she had to go through such an embarressing experience. As the saying goes, we fall in order to learn how to get back up again, though. :)
catlover79 06-26-2011, 06:56 PM So that's why Tiger disappeared?
 Not to mention Fluffy the cat split before Tiger did!!
Cori aka ChrisSCrush 06-27-2011, 03:19 PM Once again I am knocked speechless.
gidgetgrape 06-27-2011, 04:45 PM Seriously some stories don't need to be shared.
MickeyMac 06-28-2011, 11:24 AM Keep in mind these people may be starts, but they are also human as well, I dont aprove of cheating but I dont see what the big deal is either. She is not the first celebrity to do something like this.
McGillicuddy 06-28-2011, 08:36 PM Seriously some stories don't need to be shared.
That's exactly it. I personally more astonished that she felt the need of revealing this-- especially the details-- than I am that she had the affair all those years ago. Also keep in mind it was a few years BEFORE she became Mrs. Brady.
mstewart 06-29-2011, 11:27 AM No matter who you are everyone gets caught up in something. The bigger picture of it is that how you come out of what you got caught up in. Getting caught up is getting caught up.

That's the same feeling I have. Why do we need to know this?
Tap Dancer 06-30-2011, 09:00 AM Flo? Crabs? TMI!!!!!
Yeah, that's really gross. Some things should never be told to anyone. Ever. puke:
Hughsgirl 07-01-2011, 11:50 AM Really? After all these years why did she feel the need to tell the world about her private business? Or was it really her that told it and not some loser out for some quick dough? Either way it's disgusting and something that should have never surfaced.
James 07-08-2011, 03:05 AM "I was lonely," she [Florence] writes.
I thought she was married at the time. What in the world would make her lonely?
Cori aka ChrisSCrush 07-08-2011, 07:17 AM I thought she was married at the time. What in the world would make her lonely?
She was married but her husband was elsewhere at the time.
Johnny be good! 07-08-2011, 08:38 AM Ira was probably on business producing a movie.
old grouch 07-08-2011, 09:10 AM Married people can get lonely, too. Maybe they were going through some difficulties in their relationship.
shotzette 07-09-2011, 12:25 PM I thought she was married at the time. What in the world would make her lonely?
Sarcasm, or for real?
James 07-09-2011, 01:31 PM I thought she was married at the time. What in the world would make her lonely?
Sarcasm, or for real?
For real!
Bronson 07-12-2011, 02:06 PM Its unfortunate that she chose to divulge this. I see no reason. If the former mayor is alive, why embarrass him and his family if he is not?
Somethings don't need to be told to the public.
I still like her though.
catlover79 07-12-2011, 02:21 PM The mayor in question died in 2000. If Flo wanted to divulge her indiscretion, that's her choice, but did she have to name names?
sunshinefizzy 07-12-2011, 03:31 PM I'm not suprised. Ever since Maureen said that she would sunbathe topless in front of her t.v kids I've been like 'Hmmm, yeah, okay."
I do not know about you all but Florence lost my respect
