and now, it's time to take you back to a moment from over 25 years ago

Now, Wink Martindale has been known as one of the most recognized and respected faces in the world of TV and Game Shows

The Winker got his start in Radio as a longtime Los Angeles Radio DJ on KRLA and KHJ in Los Angeles, Wink’s first nationwide splash was as a recording artist with the story song "Deck of Cards."

He had hosted Game Shows like What's That Song? (NBC, 1963-64), Dream Girl ’67 (ABC), How’s Your Mother-in-Law? (ABC, 1967-68), and Words and Music (NBC, 1970-71)

In 1972, he would host Gambit for Heatter-Quigley he would host the show for 4 years on CBS and he would also host Las Vegas Gambit for NBC (1980-1981) and he would also appear as a panelist for Goodson-Todman Shows like Tattletales, Password Plus and Card Sharks w/Jim Perry

In 1978, he found greater success w/Barry & Enright's The NEW Tic Tac Dough

Wink would go on to host the show for 9 consecutive weeks on CBS Daytime and 2 weeks later, the show made its jump to syndication and he would host the show for 7 consecutive seasons

Some of the biggest winners on the show became successful including Navy Lt. Thom McKee who won $312,700 including 8 automobiles and the largest single pot on TTD-$36,800 and Kit Salisbury was the 2nd highest winner on the show w/$199,750

and now, it's been over 25 years have passed since Wink left Tic Tac Dough

So what has The Winker been doing for the past 25+ years?

In the fall of 1985, The Winker teamed up w/his late friend Wheel of Fortune & JEOPARDY! Creator Merv Griffin and hosted Headline Chasers under Wink's own Production Company Wink Martindale Enterprises, Inc.

The show lasted 1 season on syndication

Wink would go on to host and produce shows for syndication and cable

In 1987, Wink produced 2 Game Shows in Canada for Cable Television:

Bumper Stumpers w/Al Dubois for USA Network and 2nd Honeymoon w/Wayne Cox for Pat Robertson's CBN Cable Network (now abc family)

and during the 87/88 Season, The Winker reunited w/Gambit Producer Merrill Heatter as the host of High Rollers for syndication which was Recorded @ CBS Television City in Hollywood, CA where Gambit was taped and the models on the show were Crystal Owens and KC Winkler and Dean Goss was the announcer

Alex Trebek-the Original Host of High Rollers for NBC Daytime was pulling Double Duties as host of JEOPARDY! for syndication (which he still does to this day) and Classic Concentration for NBC Daytime

He also hosted another Game Show w/Merrill Heatter called The Last Word (1990-91, syndicated)

He's even hosted The Great Getaway Game for The Travel Channel

He's also hosted and produced Interactive versions of Trivial Pursuit, Shuffle, Boggle and Jumble for The Family Channel (now abc family) from 1993-1995

He's even hosted the Television version of Trivial Pursuit and during 1993, he appeared on the NBC Game Show Scattergories w/Dick Clark and he produced the Invention Show Why Didn't I Think of That? w/Wil Shriner

His most recent Game Show, Debt, aired on Lifetime from 1996 through September 1998, and he’d probably be happy to host another game if you ask him

He’s also hosting a syndicated "Music of Your Life" radio program.

He's even appeared on commercials for ESPN, Orbitz and DiGiorno Pizza

He continues to appear on TV Talk Shows and Specials and in 2002, he hosted The Most Outrageous Game Show Moments along w/his friends Fellow Game Show Hosts Jim Lange, Bob Eubanks, Peter Marshall and their Special Guest Ben Stein and he's also appeared on GSN LIVE

In 2010, he hosted his 1st Game Show in 12 years called In$tant Recall

on June 2, 2006, The Winker received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and in 2007, Wink became a member of the nominating committee of the Hit Parade Hall of Fame and on October 13, 2007, The Winker was one of the first inductees into the American Television Game Show Hall of Fame in Las Vegas

and as for Tic Tac Dough, in 1985 w/The Winker hosting Headline Chasers, Dan Enright hired Jim Caldwell as host of the show until September 1986 and 4 years later, Dan Enright brought Tic Tac Dough back to life w/Patrick Wayne (son of the late John Wayne), but the show lasted only 6 months

The NEW Tic Tac Dough have been shown in reruns

Wink's Version have been rerun on CBN, USA and GSN, Jim's Version have been shown on GSN and Patrick's Version have been shown on USA

There's not much left of the NBC Version, but as for the CBS Version, it is still uncertain, but hey, you never know it'll pop-up before you know it

The Winker considers Tic Tac Dough as his greatest successful Game Show that he's ever done and during an interview when asked why he left Tic Tac Dough he said that he and Dan parted ways on Good Terms

Wink Martindale also hosted the revival version of "Can You Top This?", a comedy/improv show that aired in syndication during 1970-71. If I recall, the original version got it's start on the radio and I believe a version also aired on TV around 1950.

In the 1970 version, Morey Amsterdam, Dick Gautier, and Richard Dawson were among the comedians who appeared. I used to watch this show, thought it was pretty funny but it didn't last long and it's time on the air was rather brief.
