TV Land will bring back "Leave it to Beaver" from a long hiatus starting May 28.
The classic sitcom will air weekend afternoons from 1-3pm, replacing two hours of "The Andy Griffith Show", which will still remain from 3pm-5pm.
The Cleaver family will start from episode one, so you can enjoy it from the beginning if you have missed it not airing on TV Land.

Hughsgirl 05-17-2011, 02:06 PM I don't know why they bother because all they do is chop it death. Thank God I have all the DVD's so TV Land can kiss my butt!

Likewise TVLand can suck an egg.
snelson 05-18-2011, 08:09 AM i too have the entire series on dvd.
Hughsgirl 05-18-2011, 12:59 PM LOL! I love the cartoon above of the butcher.
Samme 05-18-2011, 07:07 PM I'm glad to see it return, even with some cuts. It's great to have the complete episodes of any show on DVD but I always end up watching a show more on regular TV than I ever do on the DVDs. It's just somehow more enjoyable.
treky 05-19-2011, 12:59 AM well since TV LAND will just shred it to ribbons; to quote Rhett Butler "Frankly my dear; I don't give a damn"!
TV Knowledge Fan 05-19-2011, 03:48 AM ...has a contract with NBC/Universal for the "exclusive rights" to schedule the series on their channel for at least another year. In previous years, that would have been cause for celebration. Not now- the way TV LAND picks and chooses their choices as to which series gets what exposure (especially when they "supersize" them during the day or overnight; that means extra commercials, not "uncut" episodes), scheduling them in "mini-marathons" [four to six episodes], and eliminating the closing credits in favor of a small, rapid superimposed list of names at the bottom of the screen, as the final moments of the episode's last scene plays itself out [that may be acceptable on current sitcoms, but not "classic" ones!!!].
Except for "HOT IN CLEVELAND" (or one of their newer comedies), I rarely, if ever, watch TV LAND at all. I don't want to, especially if they don't treat "classic TV" with the same respect {and irreverence} as they first did, 15 years ago. Back then, they appreciated what they scheduled! Now, they're more interested in attracting the "right demographics" with the right "mix" of programs {who really wants to see repeats of "EXTREME MAKEOVER: HOME EDITION"????}. They just want to make money....not give the viewers what they really want.

What are you, a  MASOCHIST ?
catlover79 05-19-2011, 12:55 PM Likewise, thank goodness the whole show is now on DVD, uncut. You can watch it on your own time and leisure.

Yeah and NO COMMERCIALS! I would gladly take my ass to my collection and slip the DVD in over watching that TV Land station ran by nothing but a bunch of boobs.
KurtfromPitts 05-20-2011, 11:26 AM Like the cartoon too. Very clever.
CaliforniaKid 05-20-2011, 11:40 AM I am also glad its returning to tv even if cut up, I recently was in an accident which caused major spinal cord damage which I have barely been able to move for months now, its not possible for me to get up to put my dvds in the dvd player, but at least I will be able to record them onto my dvr and watch when I want to. Hey like my dad used to say "Getting a lil bit of beaver is better then no beaver at all"
KJH278 05-22-2011, 12:06 AM Knowing TV Land they will take it off in a mounth

Yeah no kidding and it will still take a back seat to that Andy Griffith fetish they have had there.
foxxfx 05-30-2011, 03:36 PM Hey, get a load of this. Could have been right next door to the Cleavers.

Buy the DVD's of LITB. I just ordered Season 5 and the difference is spellbounding. No cuts, no commercials, beautiful transfers. For Classic TV, TV Land is a POS now. I prefer ME TV and Antenna TV. It would be better if they got Beaver than TV Land's hack jobs on all of their non-original shows.

Hey Jack, glad to see you posting again. I have bought the entire series on DVD as soon as it came out and I love them. I can't say enough about how well SHOUT did with the set.....AWESOME JOB! And you are so right, what a difference! I'm convinced that had Universal kept going with the series they would have never made it as great as SHOUT did. I think their first two seasons are proof of that.
bluthree 06-09-2011, 03:53 PM Yeah I too have the complete collection on DVD. So no need for me to watch on TV Land. But nice to know that the show is back on the air for a new generation of viewers to discover. Though I wonder how many kids today would want to watch B&W shows?
ponytail 06-28-2011, 06:19 AM I do need to get the box set. RTV just took LITB off it's lineup.:( And I don't care for TVLand anymore.
