I agree. All the poor guy wanted was to enjoy a nice big sandwich and a bag of chips once in a while. Maybe Claire was just jealous :p

Here are 30 of my biggest pet peeves (and I'm sure I left some out!)

1.) I can't stand when people use internet speak (like LOLZ or n00b). I'm even getting sick of people mocking it all the time. Once in a while is fine, but every damned time you type? It's not funny anymore. I'll admit--I've been guilty of it once or twice, but some people overkill it. On the same subject, I don't get how most people don't know the difference between 'your' and 'you're'. Wow.

2.) When people look at any other part of my body other than my eyes when they are talking to me. It makes me think, 'Wow, am I that boring?'

3.) When drivers DON'T use their signal when changing lanes

4.) When girls use the words 'drool' or 'dribbling' when fangirling over their favorite hot celeb. Drooling is simply not an attractive image when thinking of someone hot  (or anything that isn't food).

5.) I also hate when someone keeps babbling on when it's quite obvious that I'm not in a mood to talk or socialize with people.

6.) I can't stand when people pass judgements about the choices I make, whether it's something I choose to eat or what I choose to do with my time. My parents are sooo good at that--they do it ALL the time, and no matter how many times I tell them it upsets me, they'll still do it.

7.) I hate when some people think that the standard of beauty is thin, blonde, and easy. I've seen more beautiful curvy girls and can appreciate other types of beauty than the norm

8.) I hate when people deliberately try to push buttons. They know something upsets a person, so they do it anyway, knowing very well it'll get a reaction. Grow up.

9.) I hate how most people in my age group think that the only way to have fun is drink or do drugs. There's more to life than that.

10.) Screaming, bratty kids in the movie theatre, grocery store, or any other public place--and even more of annoyance if the parents let it happen!

11.) I hate when people who haven't seen me in a while ask me why I'm still in community college, still working in the place I'm at now, or why I don't have a boyfriend--how is it ANY of your business?! I'm not talking about the people who are genuinely interested in my life and what I'm doing, but I can't stand when people condescend about my choices, like I mentioned earlier.

12.) I hate when people stare at me, especially when it's a big group of people at one time. It makes me nervous.

13.) People who whine and complain all the time. It gets redundant after a while and really becomes a drag to be around them (hence why I decided being a psychologist is not right for me  )

14.) Again, I'm really, really sick of fangirls who write fanfiction and think they are suddenly experts in the field of writing. They develop all these little cutesy terms to categorize their work and look down upon somebody who decides to go outside that realm. Suddenly, they are critics when it comes to stories. It makes writing to be a popularity contest and not FUN.

15.) Customers at my job who are talking on their cell phones as I'm serving them. How freakin' RUDE

16.) People who don't own up to their wrong doings or faults. They'll always try to shift blame on the other person and paint themselves to be the saint

17.) Two-facedness. If you don't like something, say it to my face. Don't act nice to me and then talk about me behind my back.

18.) Work related: I can't stand when my coworkers leave crap around the store (stuff THEY left out, not me!) but expect me to clean it!

19.) People who try to force their beliefs or interests on me. It's not going to work :p

20.) Home related: I can't stand when the disgusting men in my house leave drops of piss on the toilet seat!

21.) I hate how my school demands you take all these courses to graduate, yet how many of them will I actually need in real life to function in my career? Hardly any!

22.) I hate how my car guzzles gas and how my friends always wanna hang out and do something that requires driving when my tank is near empty! Sometimes they don't understand that I pay for my own bills!

23.) I hate when people make assumptions. For example, 'Oh, I thought that since you were driving in that general direction, you'd take me home'. Ummm, NO...ask me first and then I'll tell you whether or not I can take you home. This is, of course, usually with people I hardly deal with on a regular basis (if it was a close friend, I wouldn't mind as much). So it just strikes me as rude to assume someone you barely know will give you a ride home just because you live close to them (I deal with this a lot at work, as you can see).

24.) I hate when people chime in their two cents, even though the conversation and/or argument has nothing to do with them.

25.) I get really annoyed (and jealous, I'll admit) when people flirt with my significant other/person I'm interested in right in front of my face. Such a low, trashy thing to do.

26.) People who make comments about someones' weight, whether it's in a joking form or not. It repulses me, honestly, and makes me really sad.

27.) I absolutely hate it when someone can't say hello back to me after I greet them. There's this girl I work with (who's known for being bitchy) won't say hello in return...I mean, it's the polite thing to do. You say hi to people and they say hi back, regardless if you're buddy buddy or not.

28) Uptight, rigid people bother me for some reason. They seem to have NO personality and can't let loose once in a while.

29.) I hate when people try to be someone they're not just to please others. People will like you more if you're yourself! (unless, of course, you're a naturally nasty person...then you're on your own :D )

30.) Last, but CERTAINLY not least, I can't freakin' stand LIARS. If you're going to lie to me, you might as well kiss our friendship goodbye. I'm not going to stand for it.

Whew, it felt good to vent! :D I hope no one thinks I'm a bitch :p

You guys listed some things that drive me crazy too.

Another thing that I forgot to mention but was reminded of it at the grocery store last night: people who aren't handicapped taking handicap parking spots and other spots that are closest to the store. I saw a soccor mom in her minivan speed by this little old lady's car and take the spot the old lady was about to take. She wound up having to park much further down. If you have two perfectly good legs, then a little exercise will not hurt you.

A similar peeve is people who don't give up their seats for an elderly person or someone else who looks like they really need to sit down. Call me old-fashioned, but I was always taught to respect my elders. Sometimes, I feel like one of the few people in my generation (under 30) whose parents actually bothered to teach them some manners.

3.) When drivers DON'T use their signal when changing lanes

That is, without a doubt, #1 on my list. I can't believe how many people are too lazy to just push a lever up or down. It can even prevent an accident. I say not only those who drive mile after mile without using turn signals receive a ticket, but their car should be impounded for one week. Once that happens, you'll see everyone using turn signals!

Also:
- People who swear.
- People who don't like Halloween. :D

My husband has that bad habit. I, of course, let him know about it. He also is one who doesn't turn on his wipers until it is impossible to see anything! That really peeves me!

Strange that he doesn't want to look out of a clear windshield.

Yes, and Halloween is coming up quickly. :)

I forgot two more:
- Those very loud motorcycles which break everyone's eardrums when they go buy.
- The horrible thumping and pounding "music" some people insist on playing in their cars at full volume.
- And what is supposed to be "music" you hear during TV and radio commericals.

Just a warning, this is a very long post.

1. people who wear flip-flops everyday, who are you kidding. There is usually not a beach with-in a hundred mile radius, are these people just too lazy to wear shoes and tie them? Especially the guys, men look like absolute fools wearing these things, grow up and buy a pair of good sneakers.

2. people on cell phones, what is soooooo important that you cannot wait until you get home and make your call in private, not everyone cares who you are talking too!

3. parents: it is not a major accomplishment to make kids, its not like you invented a cure for cancer.............your ability to reproduce is not that amazing, keep your kids out of my way when you are out.

4. morons who insist on leaving their turn signal/flasher on for miles, make your freakin turn already.

5. people who refer to their kids and spouse as family, as if my partner and I are not worthy of being considered a "family" in this country due to being gay. We are a lot more normal than most other "traditional" families that I have seen.

6. parents who do not watch their kids while they run around destroying things in public, if you want to make them then you should take care of them and watch their every move. Do not leave that burden on me.

7. going to the dentist with an appointment that is scheduled weeks in advance, first thing in the morning and the darn doctor still makes you wait an hour to be seen.

8. drinkers: I do not understand why people dedicate so much of their time, energy and resources to get drunk. I have never seen a drinker that was able to hold there liquor, if your life is that disfunctional that you must drink to get by, then you really have a lot of major issues.

9. people who are not sensitive to the unethical treatment of farmed animals for food, where do you really think it is coming from? the meat fairy???

10. healthy people who park in handicap spaces to save themselves a few extra steps when they should be parking in the regular spaces. You should reserve those spaces for people who really need them, disabled & seniors.

11. shopping at stores like ikea, they now have special parking spaces for "families" for those that are expecting. Why in the world should anyone get a special reserved parking space just because they are making babies, this is very disrespectful to those of us who come to these stores to purchase things. Is someone that has a bun-in-the-oven shopping needs any more important than mine??? I have moderate to severe daily boughts with back pain, yet I still park at a distance and leave the closer spaces for the elderly, etc.

12. people who bitch & complain about smokers, I am not a smoker but I would rather have a little second-hand smoke in my face than to have drunks running around causing accidents and screwing up other people's lives due to their irresponsibility. Drinkers have very little use.

13. people who blast the music in their cars so loud that it actually shakes other cars near them.

14. people who insist on talking about their personal problems in public settings, like the bank, post office, grocery store, etc. If you want to chit-chat with someone, step to the side and stop holding up others.

15. another parking issue: when you have access to central parking in a residential area, yet you still insist on parking your damn car on the street tying up traffic flow, blocking driveways and making it unsafe for others to drive around your vehicle just so your fat butt does not have to park where it is appropriate and walk back.

16. arrogant and selfish people that think only of themselves, stop for a moment and look around yourself................you are not the only one here!

17. when people are in an enclosed space (restaurants, stores, etc.) they insist in talking in their ourdoor voice.............bring the volume down, odds are whatever you're saying is not important to other folks around you.

18. "baby on board" signs: don't get me wrong, I respect your kids safety and would never want anything to happen to them. But really, who honestly cares enough to be staring at your stickers while stuck in traffic.

19. shopping for scented products in stores like target/wal-mart: there is nothing more annoying than a bunch of bored idiots wandering around the shampoo/conditioner/soaps/deodorants, etc. sniffing every freakin item in the department. Like you have no clue what peach shampoo could possibly smell like, just risk it and buy the damn thing.

20. cell phones, again: if you have any common sense???, you should turn your phone off before entering a building of any kind. I have had a cell phone for over 10 years for work, and during that time I have never left my phone ring in a public area. Your life is not that fast-paced and important to interfere with my life or anyone else.

21. shoppers revisited: why do the "families" have to go to retail stores, take every kid they can find and clog up the aisles. If you have more than 1 kid, consider leaving them at home with someone else. There is not much else that is as irratating as trying to get thru an aisle with big asses with a shopping cart, stroller and the like blocking every direction.

22. people who automatically asume since I am gay that I need to be "saved", I am very happy with my self. I do not need your blessings or salvation, to save my soul. I am doing just fine, but thanks anyway.

23. elevators: why is it when every moron gets on an elevator, they all have to press the same buttons...............if the light is already illuminated that is all you need. You will get to where you need to be, just calm down and wait.

24. people who do not pickup/cleanup after themselves, if you make a mess clean the crap up. Didn't your mother raise you better than that?

25. bullies: it is bad enough when kids that are stupid and poorly taught by their parents that bullying anyone or anything is 100% wrong, but it is even more pathetic when adults do it. Is your life so bad that you have to try and bring others down to your level?

26. religion: people & groups that try and force their religious views on others around them because they are so god fearing that they want to make everyone else the same way. I never try and push my views on others, there is nothing wrong with each person having their own personal views, but keep your nose out of my business.

27. government/politics: why is it that the government we citizens are paying for to operate, want to limit our rights based on religious views. There are so many issues in the country that need help; including: the horrendous amount of cruelty to farm animals that are raised and used for food, our environment is falling apart very quickly, homeless, AIDS is running rampant, the government budget is totally out of whack, and so much more. Yet our jack-ass of a president is focusing on starting wars in other countries that we have no right to be involved in, spending millions of dollars to make gay families 3rd class citizens by forcing the american public to adopt his own homophobic views and lots more.

28. the state government is supporting the wrong issues & agendas: here in Maryland, it is now the priority for the government to sponsor religious based organizations, hate groups, and give scholarships for all of the spoiled brat drunk college students. Let them get a job, bust their butt and make the money themselves to get their precious college education Why should taxpayers like me have to support other people's kids to go to school? If their parents want them to go to college, pay for it yourself!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am not a bank.

29. why are most folks so dense?, it seems like people are getting dumber as time goes by.

30. why does it seem like most things you buy today are disposable?, the majority of stuff that you get only lasts a fraction of what it used to. Yet costs much more, very hard to understand??? I am tired of buying stuff that breaks prematuraly.

I am not usually such a Bitch, these issues have been building up for some time and this thread gave me a great place to vent my feelings. I am usually a laid back guy, I fight for things that are really important to me and do not normally let this kind of stuff get to me so much.

Because I have major PMS right now. I hate this time of the month! Why can't men deal with this crap?

1. Litterbugs. Put it in the trash barrel, you moron!
2. People who don't pick up after themselves.
3. Cellphones. The phone call can wait until you get home, pal!
4. Rude, agressive, impatient drivers.
5. The general lack of manners and common courtesy in society.
6. Rude, agressive people.
7. Self-centerend, selfish, impatient people.
8. People who own pets and don't bother taking care of them or controlling them.
9. People who own kids and don't bother taking care of them or controlling them.
10. Rude customer service staff.
11. Rude customers.
12. Bills.

15. People who don't have a clue that you are not interesting in listening to them talk.
16. The garbage that passes for entertainment these days.

18. Poor grammar and spelling.
19. Intentional use of poor grammar and spelling.
20. Bullies in school.
21. Adult bullies.
22. Parents who think their child can do no wrong, even when shown a video tape of Little Billy beating up the smaller kids on the playground. We did NOT set him up!
23. People who don't take any personal responsibility for themselves.

25. People who fight for the rights of criminals over the rights of children, victims' families, and law-abiding citizens.

28. Violent criminals who keep getting let out of prison when they should be locked up or executed.
29. People who take great pleasure in hurting others or vandalizing property or other crimes.

I'll add to #1 for me...people who throw away plastic bottles, paper, and other recyclables. OMG...I seriously want to beat people severly for this.

Cell phones only bug me when being used in cars and the people are driving like an ass.

lol...18 and 19. I so want to correct people. Yet it's taken as rude. pissed:

I'm all the others too. argh....

I also want to add....reverse racism. Why the hell can't all people just be equal?? What good does catering to a race who complains about being a racism victim do?? All that does is turns the racism around. Treat them exactly like you treat whitey over there and we'd all be fine. UGH. And people who pull the race card to get their way should be dropped on Bikini Island without a boat.

8. drinkers: I do not understand why people dedicate so much of their time, energy and resources to get drunk.

I seriously don't get that either. What the hell is so fun about spending like $5 a drink, which does your body no good, only to piss out the $5 an hour later? And then you end up drunk and hungover and sleeping on the bathroom floor. Yeah...good times! And then I get that "Well you're just an uptight snob bitch then" attitude aimed at me because I don't see drinking as fun. Well excuse me.

My biggest pet peeve is when people know I am home but call my cell phone anyways and even if its not turned on they leave a message telling me to call them back when they know I am home and know my home phone number or I always tell them if my phone is turned off to call me at home cause if my phone is turned off most of the time I will be home but they still just leave a message on my cell telling me to call then back and don't think of trying me on the home phone. That really bugs me cause it could be a very important call that requires me to call them back that night and I might not even get the message till the next day if my phone is turned off. I mean if it is after 8 when I have free time I still want them to call me on my home phone cause most of the time I am home i turn my cell off since I don't have alot of minutes so I try to only use my cell when I am not at home or after 8 but I still like it if people call my home phone after 8 then we can call each other back on the cell.

As a New Yorker, my biggest pet peeve is people who have no idea that they are in everybody's way.

New york CIty is a very crowded place. The streets are always packed with people, the stores are very busy and very small, and the last thing we need here is people who wander around and get in the way.

People who stop dead in their tracks on a busy street, causing the people behind them to crash into each other like a derailed conga line.

People who stand in a group in a narrow aisle of a busy store yammering away while everybody tries to squeeze around them. No it's okay, we'll go around you it's not like we came here to shop or anything.

It is important to be aware of your surroundings. Remember, you are not the only person in this town. There is always someone behind you who has to get somewhere, so let them pass.

In short, GET THE **** OUT OF MY WAY!

I'll just stick with work pet peeves for now. Like Janice, I could go on and on...lol

People who think they're better/smarter than you because they make more money/have a "higher status". I work with teachers. Most of them think they are God's gift to the world. I'll bet I'm smarter (especially in English...good god) than they are even without a certificate.

People who won't do their job. Teachers LOVE to pawn their students off on associates or other teachers. They act like if they have to spend one more minute with them, they'll go insane. Um, then maybe you shouldn't be a teacher? DUH. In addition, I work with some associates who don't do their jobs either and I end up doing it because I'm mortally afraid of getting yelled at. But you know, those people are the FIRST to complain when someone else is not doing their job. :livid: :wallbang :bash:

People who tell lies thinking they'll get away with it. Um, lol, you're NEVER that smart. One reason...

People who tell everyone something that someone else told them in confidence.

And of course, people who talk **** about others behind their backs.

Never work with mostly women. Total nightmare.

That's like people standing in the middle of an aisle of a store, and you can't get around them, and naturally they never notice they're in the way. So when you get fed up and try to sneak past them, they look at you as if you're in their way and annoying them.

I hate people who think they're right all the time. There are a couple of people who I'm friends with they are pretty cool except for the fact that they always think they're right. I also hate people who talk s*it and they can't even back it up! I also hate it when I see people cheer for a sports team that they don't even know s*it about but they only like that team for the damn logo!

People doing 30 or below in the fast lane.
People who don't use their blinkers.
People who feel the need to bring their uncontrollable brat to the movies or a restaraunt(Isn't McDonald's open? How about Chuckie Cheese?)

Nosy people
People blaming others for their problems, especially the younger generation.
Parents blaming the media on how their bad ass kids act, no, let's not blame MTV, blame your lack of parenting skills.

Child abusers, murders, rapists..
People who tell their whole life story to the cashier when checking out their items, (i'm behind you, hurry the hell up!)

People who think Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton, Britney Spears, and the Olsen Twins are the second coming of Jesus.

Parents who think it's cute that Little Johnny or Little Susie is acting like a unmannered brat in public.
People who can't take the hint that you want them to leave you alone.
Everybody and their mother want to flock to Miami just because of Miami Vice and Lindsay Lohan.
How no one isn't giving the late Natalie Wood her due, but skanks like Liz Taylor gets props all the time.
Guys who look like 'thugs' and act like one too.

That's like people standing in the middle of an aisle of a store, and you can't get around them, and naturally they never notice they're in the way. So when you get fed up and try to sneak past them, they look at you as if you're in their way and annoying them.

 That was me at the drug store two days ago. As i mentioned above the stores here in NYC are very small. I miss the wide open spaces of New Jersey supermarkets, because here the store aisles are really narrow, so if you get someone meandering in a four foot wide aisle with a shopping cart, there is no way in Hell you are getting around this person.

And on the street, sometimes I feel like I am the only person who is trying to get somewhere. Everyone else seems to be just lazily shuffling around, stopping, looking at a shop window...

DON'T ANY OF YOU FREAKING PEOPLE HAVE ANYTHING TO DO!!!!!

Okay, i need to go back to bed.

People on the city bus or any kind of public transportation who tell you their hard luck stories when all say to them is "hello, how are you."

Icy driveways, sidewalks and roads

rude service people

screaming babies or children

lightning hitting too close to the house.

The stupid banter between DJ's: Just play the damn music!
(especially early in the morning)

Doctors with no bedside manner

Loud cellphone chatter in a public place: I don't need or want to hear the conversation.

Also, I hate when DJ's yak & yak at the beginning of the song and continue talking up until the singer starts to sing. I'm like "shut up, already"! The person wrote the beginning of the song for reason, for people to hear it, not to hear you yammering on.

I also hate bad customer service, especially when I have somebody waiting on me where it's apparent they hate their job, and they take it out on you. I always say 'You must be a joy to work with'. Time to find another line of work.

Animal cruelty. Enough said.

Judgemental & shallow people.

People who, no matter what you've done in your life, seem to have either done it, or better.

Animal Cruelty: That's why I can't watch Animal Precinct (I think that's the name of it) on Animal Planet. It breaks my heart to see them treated so horribly. Some people should not be allowed to have pets.

Yeah, I hear you on stupid and crazy drivers.

I'd also like to add people in parking lots who stop in back of my car to chat with passengers who are getting out, meanwhile blocking me from backing out of my space.

Same people everyday who absolutely must be the first person on the bus and will cut in front of you or try to as you are getting on.

Number two: Being put on hold on the phone for long periods of time with stupid music being played in the background, or going through endless phone menus: "Press one if you..., press two if,--"Press, this, A**H****!!!"

Number three: Being ignored at a store, or airport (Newark and JFK airports are the worst) by a clerk who is taking their sweet time on purpose and knows you're waiting, or is dealing with a matter on the phone or with another worker which can wait, while you're standing there like an idiot, and you may miss your flight--and it seems like they don't give a s***.

And yeah, people waiting on you that are doing anything BUT their job. I like to start making annoying noises or something to show them what I really think of their lack of work ethic. I deal enough with people who won't do their jobs at work; I don't want to deal with it at a store or restaurant.

Parents who try to be their child's best friend instead of the parent drive me nuts. If I ever spoke to my parents the way I've heard some children speak to theirs...

Parents who think their children are never in the wrong. You could videotape Little Johnny pushing kids off the swings and the parents wouldn't believe you and would think you just hate their little angel.

Parents who want no part of their child's education, but still expect the kid to make straight A's. If your child is playing video games instead of doing their homework and studying every night, I don't think they'll be making valedictorian in high school.

Parents who pay little or no attention to their kids, period. Why did you even bother to have children then if your own career and life are so much more important to you? I'm no parent, but I still believe that once you have a baby, then that should be the main focus of your life, at least until they are grown.

I also don't like thinking about parents and kids when I'm on vacation!!!

This is a specific peeve of mine that's happened twice in the last few months. I have a closetful of Yankee Candles, more than I can use. I've had to tell people to stop giving them to me as gifts. A friend of mine was over the other night, and said she had to pick her aunt up a little gift for her birthday. I asked her if her aunt likes candles, and she said she loved them...so I offered her one of mine. Now, I love this friend, but she's as cheap as can be, so I know it was right up her alley. Instead of saying, "Sure, thanks. You're saving me $25.", she says, "Yeah, I'll take one off your hands for you." So now what, do I thank her for taking it?

Another time, I asked a relative if he wanted a box of hardcover history books (Civil War, WWII, Vietnam). My husband has too many, and we're thinning out some stuff. It's a relative who lives out of state. These books are in perfect condition, and this relative is a huge history buff. His reply, "Well, I suppose so. If nobody else wants them...I guess...." I looked at the box of books, figured it would cost me $40 to ship them, and donated them to the library instead. The relative asked me about them, and I told him that he didn't seem that interested.

Just venting. I hate when you offer something to someone, and they act like they're doing you a favor by taking it.

I have another pet peeve. Yes, once again it's about people who **** me off.

People who do not read signs or follow instructions.

A Lenny's sandwich shop opened recently in my neighborhood, and I have been there to order food a few times.

Here's the proper way to order, which I am poud to say i got the very first time I went into the store: Once you enter the store, you proceed all the way down to the end of the counter to order your food - under the gigantic hanging sign that says "PLACE YOUR SANDWICH ORDER HERE."

Once you give them your order, they give you a reciept which you take to the other end of the counter (up front near the entrance) where you pay for the order. Oh, there is also another giant hanging sign there which says "PAY FOR YOUR SANDWICH HERE."

Now this doesn't sound very hard, right? Am i confusing anyone? If i am, please re read this from the top.

Go ahead I'll wait.

:bored:

So of course while I'm waiting there for them to make my sandwich and put it in the bad they have ready for me, several people proceed to enter the store ignoring the giant freaking hanging signs which clearly tell you what to freaking do when you want to order stuff at Lenny's and try to order food from the cashier, who then has to point them in the right direction.

They look confused, they point and ask "Where? over there? At the end down there? Are you sure?"

Some people looked like they were offended by the cashier telling them this - how dare you tell me to go over there to order? Why can't i order here?

Of course by this time I'm praying my sandwich is finished so I can flee this establishment before another person incapable of looking up at the SIGNS TELLING THEM WHERE TO ORDER THEIR FOOD comes in. Perhaps they can put arrows on the floor, or have one of those helper monkeys guide these freaking pinheads to their destination.

Other than that, the sandwhiches at Lenny's are tops.

New York City is a very crowded place. The stores, the subway trains, the sidewalks...too many people on a very small island.

So we really don't need the peole who have no idea that they are blocking aisles, causing a massive pileup of people behind them as they meander down the sidwalk...

In short, snap out of your iPod induced haze and get the heck to the right side! Other people have places to go!

-Going to a store and waiting to purchase something but the clerk is gabbing away on the phone or with another co-worker.

I hate that too. That happened to me and a friend during our lunch hour, this past Friday. She drove us up to the grocery store and we were in check out and the checker is too busy chit chatting with her neighbor about the ingredients in Red Bull instead of finishing with our food orders.

What else bugs me.

Slow drivers
People who don't use turn signals.
People who push past you and don't say "Excuse Me."

That's about it.

I dont know if they have lottery tickets sold at convienience stores in the USA but, here, it seems like every 3rd customer is there to buy lottery tickets and then.....they buy two of this, THEN decide to get 3 of THAT...and when you think they are done ,they decide they need an extra 2 of ticket one,,,and so on and so forth, while im standing there with a loaf of bread and a pint of milk. If the stores think its SO important to sell these tickets, then they should hire another clerk and have them do nothing BUT tickets. Why do I have to wait with 2 items while someone else wastes my time and everyone elses? Wow... I really DO hate that, dont I?

what are some of your pet peeves? you know, stuff people do that just really ticks you off.

heres a couple of mine:

-people who text message a lot. so annoying...i see kids in my school texting every minute of almost every single class. can't talking to your friends wait? however, what gets me the most mad about that is when you're talking to someone and they go "wait, i have a text" and they stop talking to you to text that person back.

-people who ALWAYS listening to their iPods, wherever they go. makes it hard to talk to them.

-people who ask you if you've seen a movie. you say no. they proceed to tell you the entire plot and ending of the movie. annoying.

so yeah. what are some of yours?

I am surprised cell phones are permitted in school nowadays, when I was in high school in the early 90s, pagers and walkmens were the thing, and if you got caught with one, it was taken.

Anyway, I have lots of pet peeves, lately the one that has been standing out is that in supermarkets, people stand in the main isle and not move out the way, knowing that other people need to get through, that is so frustrating. Please keep moving or step aside!

I hate that one too. There's always some idiot standing in the middle of the aisle, taking an hour to choose a soup. Move to the side, please. How hard is this concept??

Same goes with the shoppers who stop and talk to people and stand in the middle. Seems like it's always in the busiest aisle, too.

When me and another person dont agree on a subject and I want to agree to disagree, and that person wants to turn that topic into a whole big debate, I hate that.

Also when you tell someone that you dont share their tastes in music, movies, etc. and they go out of their way to prove that you are wrong and try to convert you to their tastes.

People wearing their pants all pulled down, I dont want to look at your ass!!!!!

People who intentionally use bad grammar and think thats cool.

People yacking on their cell phones while in line or at the checkout counter. Can't your call wait.

The people who work at checkout and never acknowledge you, even when you are polite and courteous to them. Dont know why that bothers me but it does.

People who make assumptions that if you are a certain, race or color you are supposed to behave in some sort of way.

People who based other people on stereotypes they saw on television (hence white people assuming black people all behave the way rappers do in their videos).

People who call a three month old record "a classic". A three month old record is not a classic yet.

What are yours?

Seems a couple of yours are the same as mine!!

Whenever a person is talking loudly on their cell right near me, I just want to stand right next to them and scream in their ear while they're on there phone and scare the crap out of them.

Another pet peeve is people who judge you by the way you look. I used to be rather heavy and have recently lost a bit of weight and it amazes me how different people are towards me now.

The fact that, after the end of this year, Verizon is going to be the only one servicing this area (we also have Alltel), and their plans SUCK. I have a smartphone now, and I had to PAY to download it to my phone, because I cannot get AIM or MSN for free on it (I can, however, download Yahoo IM for it - BIG WHOOPEE. Never said they did. Nowhere did I say "all black people." I'm sure there are many that don't care what color they are.

The ones I'm refering to are the ones who cry racism when there is none there. My dad worked with a guy that did that a lot. Oh yeah, I hate when there's one line forming, and it's getting long, and you've been waiting a bit. Then they open another register, and the cashier says that she's open and the people that were waiting behind you and waiting less time than you were go running over to the other line. What they should say is I'll take the next person in line. Still people don't get it and they're still try to go ahead of you.

I mentioned bad customer service before -

When the cashier is either talking to the bag boy while she's ringing up your order(this happens at our local supermarket)

or if the cashier knows the person behind you in line and is busy yakking it up while she's ringing my order up. I always pay attention to what she's ringing up as to not overcharge me.

As you can see, I don't have the best of shopping experiences!!

I have another one:

Impatient people who can't believe they have to wait on line.

Yesterday i was in Home Depot on 23rd street buying something. Love the Depot.

Anyway, i went to the registers to pay for my purchase. It was about 9 AM so they only had one register open. Couldn't use the self checkout (which I always use) because it was a specialty item that a clerk had to write a reciept for.
No biggie, only two people ahead of me on line.
Of course some pinhead comes up behind me and is livid that he has to wait. He's fourth in line!
He starts harrassing the cashier working the self checkout registers.
"Excuse me, could you open another register?"
The clerk expalined that she was working the self checkout and couldn't open another register at the time
"But there's a line here!" he says.

The people in front of me had five items between them. I had a two dollar item i was going to pay cash for. We're talking a maximum wating time of five minutes here, and this guy was freaking out that he had to wait.

It's New York City. You are going to have to wait on line for everything.

Deal with it.

So many of mine have already been listed. I agree with bad customer service, but I also can't stand bad customers who are just plain nasty to those who are just trying to earn a decent living. Respect goes both ways. You can't expect the cashier to smile and greet you when you have been yakking away on your cell phone the whole time he/she has been ringing up your groceries. I had this regular customer who came through my line all the time and never acknowledged me. One day, I ignored him while I rang up his groceries and he went over to my manager and complained I had an attitude problem  My motto always was "Treat me with respect, I'll respect you. Treat me rudely and I'm giving you The Finger under the counter!" Praise the Lord I no longer work in that line of service! It truly is a thankless job.

I also can't stand parents who either have to micromanage their child's whole life or have no interest in the kid at all. The former needs to get a life of their own and the latter shouldn't have bothered having a kid in the first place.

I also get really annoyed by people who claim educators have it easy. They obviously never walked into a classroom.

See. I work in retail, but not during normal business hours.

It REALLY gets my goat when I'm stocking items in an aisle... and when I'm doing so, I notice empty or torn-open packages [with item still inside] nearby.

WHY do people do this? F*CK YOU. That is STEALING. And for torn-open packages with items still inside, F*CK YOU TOO because that means I have to set it aside to defect it out. I see this a LOT with cosmetics. Like... Moreso than any other area of the store. Gee, I had no idea makeup was such a valuable commodity.

I record a LOT more empty cosmetic packages than any other items at work. Ugh.

Alsoooo.

Customers who put an item in their cart, go to another area of the store and decide there that they don't want an item so they take it out of their cart there and put it on the shelf there. Seriously... DON'T. Hold it until you get to checkout. Tell the cashier there that you do not want the item and they will set it aside to be put away later. It's not hard. Bonus... You still get to be a lazy ass. YAY! Win-win!

I have a story about that, actually. One night at work, I was putting away a bunch of nose sprays. At the time this happened, they were way up on the very top shelf, which was a good 6 or 7 feet off the ground. I could feel something stuck up there, so I went to get a stepladder to retrieve whatever was stuck back there. When I got on the stepladder and looked, it was TWO TUBES OF MAYBELLINE LIP GLOSS. Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaat. You mean to tell me that you didn't want it so much, you FLUNG the lip glosses up there? (it was on a REALLY high shelf.) Not cool at all.

That bugs the crap out of me, too, and I don't even work in a supermarket. It really bugs me when it's something perishable. I'll be in the cereal aisle and see a pot roast sitting on the shelf, at room temperature. This is one of the reasons food prices keep rising!! The thing is, it's usually at Wal-Mart where the meat department in on the side of the store, if you're going down each aisle, you're bound to be near the meat department. Put the pot roast away if you don't want it!! Or worse, is when I see something perishable put on a shelf by the check-out area. Like PZelda said, why can't they just give it to the cashier? Even if you realized you can't afford it, you don't have to say that, just say you decided you didn't want it.

You know what though, if I see something on the shelf that non-perishable, I will go and put it on the right shelf. That's just me.

It also bugs me when I see that something has fallen off the shelf and people keep walking by it while it lays on the floor. I guess they figure it's not their job to pick it up. I'll pick it up though.

Ohhh man. I agree with you on the child care. My parents micro manage. It's like, they sense me pushing them away, but they keep trying to keep me under the thumb.

I had to work last night through this morning.

I was putting away & zoning bandages -- zoning basically means to tidy up the area. You guys would be surprised at how messy bandages can get, and the fact that other employees who were there BEFORE me didn't even bother to zone the stuff *on* the shelves (they just give more of a damn about zoning the *hanging* items. Stupid asses.).

Anyway. I was zoning bandages. I peeked into the back of the shelves, and guess what I found?

A. PIZZA. PAN.

A PIZZA PAN with the BANDAGES?? Wut. And how did the DAYTIME employees COMPLETELY miss the FIFTEEN INCH PIZZA PAN?? I swear. The overnight team with me & the other employees are better than the daytime team. Probably because of no customers being around. Still. There are about 3x-4x more employees on daytime than nighttime so I don't really get it.

Even before I worked in retail, I CARED about **** like that. I would either put the item back (if I was still in the area) or hand it to the cashier at checkout. Sheesh.

For me, I can not STAND when people slam on staplers to hit something. You know what I mean? It's like, unless you are stapling 100 sheets of paper together, you don't have to hit it 2 to 3 times that hard. All it takes for me is a light movement in pushing down on the stapler. I can't stand a lot of people that drive. People that don't drive when the light is green or when it's clear and instead they sit there, annoys me.

People, who drive, super freaking slow in the fast lane.
People, who are uncouth..
People, who swear in front of children
People ,who smoke around non-smokers
People , who chew with their mouths open (drives me bonkers)
People, who still drive and chat on their cell phones
People, who are rude towards my mom, because she is hard of hearing and elderly. You do not know, how many times, my temper flared and I screamed at certain individuals, whom treated my mom ,unfairly and out of disrespect.

People who smoke in restaurants are nasty..I hate how it is separated, smoking and non-smoking section. All restaurants should be smoke free, with smoke free booths. If you wanna light a cigarette or have a smoke (and possibly even a pancake with that ), then take it outside I say. I don't need blunt ashes in my spaghetti or smoke in my soda.

Video poker/lottery machines. Those things are evil, especially for people who easily succumb to addictions. I haven't been to a bar in months just so as not to be tempted by those damn things. Unfortunately it's getting to the point where they're putting them everywhere. I wouldn't be surprised if we started seeing them in supermarkets within the next couple years at the rate they're going now. Bullfroggin, and all those other games are currently my biggest pet peeve.

LAZINESS!! I put carts away in the parking lot. I straighten shelves. I think I do it just to spite the lazy slobs.

The other day at Sam's, this lady just leaves her cart right behind her SUV. THE CART CORRAL WAS ANOTHER 10 FEET AWAY. 10 damn feet and she leaves it in the middle of the parking space. We put it away while she was still sitting there.

OMG... one day last week we went to Target for something. Not sure what it was - just that it was a quick trip. My mom finds a parking spot and pulls up into it. I see TWO carts next to her car. One of 'em is that stupid kid-friendly cart where it allows seating for two kids. I went, "Oh, COME ONNNNNNN!!!!" :wallbang

Also when you tell someone that you dont share their tastes in music, movies, etc. and they go out of their way to prove that you are wrong and try to convert you to their tastes.

This can apply a lot in terms of television series. If you are a fan of the cleaner comedies of the past, ("Mary Tyler Moore," for instance), and you indicate the same to someone who likes the '90's-current comedies ("Friends," "Seinfeld," etc.), wouldn't it be kind of stupid for them to try to convert you to "Friends" and "Seinfeld"? By that same token, it would be equally stupid for me to try to convert you to the cleaner stuff if you enjoy "Friends" and "Seinfeld." This is why, at least when it comes to television series, I am a "live-and-let-live" type of guy-- I don't have to like what you like, and you don't have to like what I like. It works both ways.

"oh you like b/w movies huh?" or "you like old movies?" and always get a smirk or a chuckle. so annoying. my sister is the worst offender - "why do you like b/w (or old) movies for?" i don't, the movies i like just happen to be b/w or old. i enjoy them. i think the plots are better, i think the stories have more meaning and sentiment, i think the actors are more dedicated and respectable. i don't enjoy movies that rely on special effects, violence, nudity and all these other gimmicks to keep you interested. sick of explaining my choices!
- people who don't know what some old movies are! i'm not saying be an expert but atleast be knowledgable of the classics! even before i saw gone with the wind i knew what it was and who it starred! i've had people not know what 'a christmas carol' was or who even wrote it!

Bosses/managers who take the customer's side over their employees even when the customer is WRONG WRONG WRONG.

Gay/bisexual/lesbians who think every injustice that involves them is somehow related to their orientation. I'm bisexual and I don't go around claiming "OHH YOU JUST HATE ME BECAUSE IM NOT STRAIGHT". Same with minority groups who claim they are being discriminated against when they're clearly not. People who want to be treated as equals need to show this with their actions, not just their words. Claiming you're being discriminated against when you're not creates division and not unity.

Brazilian Portuguese. As a speaker of Portuguese from Portugal, I seriously can't listen to Brazilian Portuguese, it's "horrivel" e "feio". "Banheiro" should not mean bathroom and the letter d should be pronounced as such and not like its a g (bom dia should sound like that and not 'bon gia' ). But I do admit I feel this way because I've been hearing from my mother all my life that correct Portuguese comes from Portugal only. A related annoyance, when people assume all Portuguese speakers come from Brazil. Look at the name of the language, it's called that for a reason :)

Two big ones...
There used to be this group of people on my bus going to and from work. It was one of those articulated busses (with the accordian-thing in the middle so the bus can be longer and make turns). I would always sit up front and this group of people were SO LOUD that you could hear them all the way from the back of the bus. Fortunately, (Knocking on wood here!) they no longer ride and the back of the bus is fairly quiet. I even sit there now.

But this has morphed into a whole new pet peeve. I cannot stand it when people talk on the bus (and then I feel guilty if I do it!). Even if it's in a normal tone of voice because I can hear every word. Same thing goes for cell phone conversations. I hate when people are talking on their cell phone around me.

Secondly, I can't stand being in a restaurant and sitting next to a table of people who are so loud that you can hear their conversation.

I don't know. These things used to never bother me. Maybe my ears are getting more sensitve in my "old age"!!

I didn't know they did that. I do wish they didn't do remakes of old TV Shows or when one has a good movie or remake, they should leave it be.

Yeah, I can't stand being stared at... I don't know why but it has been bothering me lately. Kids sometimes do it too and it annoys me more but they are kids.

The other day when I was working, I was washing my hands in the women's bathroom and a customer and her daughter came out of the cubicle and went to the sink, there are two sinks.

So her daughter is in front of her as she is near the sink but staring at me!! The mom is pushing her sleeves back so the daughter can wash her hands without getting her sleeves wet. Then she waits for a few minutes then asks the daughter, what are you doing? Then the daughter snaps out of her staring and washes her hands but I started to leave when the daughter snapped out of it...

Today on the bus a lady was staring at me for a few seconds then she would turn and look forward. I was like across the aisle but kinda behind her so I could tell if she was looking my way. I was getting annoyed by then since she would do it a few times if I'm talking to the driver.. grrr...

People who treat you as an automatic enemy if you're not a member of their political party.

Angry, nasty, bitter people who take their unhappiness out on others.

I hate how companies are making products smaller and think customers don't notice. Just another sneaky way of raising the price.

Being attacked for your opinion.

People who overuse graphics on message boards. It gets so old.

People who don't listen. This includes friends, doctors, anyone.

Overly sarcastic people.

People who don't fully read e-mails. It's not easy for me to sit and type a lot these days because of my neck problem. It's so obvious when someone gives an e-mail a half read.

People who don't say thank you. I don't need to be overthanked, but for God's sake, say thank you. Two simple words.

People who are rude to service staff in restaurants and stores, for no reason, just because they can. I ended a friendship because she was so nasty to people in stores and while eating out. I couldn't take it anymore.

Unfounded allegations of racism or homophobia.

I hate when people PM me with a request and act like I'm a computer. No hello, please or thank you. I don't need or want a book, but a simple pleasantry would be nice. Hi Janice would suffice.

People who just drop off links in threads with no explanation. I never open them.

Sore winners.

I hate when cashiers chat to each other or the bagger in the grocery store while ringing up my order. That's my money they're handling. I often ask them politely to focus on my order.

This happened to me today so it goes on the list. I hate it when at the checkout line the person in front of you suddenly remembers something they forgot and they either get out of line to get it, in which case everybody has to wait for that person, or they send the cashier to go get what they forgot. Its really annoying if its a long line. Not to be mean but they should just come back and get what they forgot or pay for the stuff they already have and then go get that other item.

-People who visit your home and automatically start using your computer or other items without asking. I live in a duplex owned by my uncle. My cousin recently started doing work on another duplex my uncle owns. It's down the street from where I live. My cousin is also staying there. Just yesterday after I let him into my place he went and got on my desktop computer without asking. He then wanted print a bunch pictures of women he met on dating sites not realizing that printing pictures drains ink cartridges. It sort of bugged me because I will be starting part-time grad school in a few weeks and hate spending money ink carts.

I got a cousin like that who is a total freeloader. He's not allowed at my place, but when he goes over to my mother's house he helps himself to whatever he wants. My mother allows it because he's "family". I call it bullsh*t.

So here's one, and I don't have to go far.
