Yes, I prefer to believe that entire plot is akin to the Dallas "dream season". It never really happened. What a terrible way to send off two characters that we've followed and loved for years. I know they wanted to get "Gloria" off the ground, but were those 13 episodes worth the destruction of a classic TV couple? Hardly. Only greed can explain it. It was a big "screw you" to the long time fans. grundle 05-14-2011, 06:47 PM Mike was always a responsible husband and father. Regardless of his political views, there's no way that he would ever abandon his family to go live on a commune, which is what happened in the "Gloria" spinoff. Of course, some of us don't share that opinion, but Grundle is still a good fellow. Hughsgirl 05-17-2011, 02:56 PM Mike was always a responsible husband and father. I'm not sure I really agree with this or not. IMO, Mike was always a lazy mootch. When Gloria became pregnant with Joey, he blamed only her. He thought that he was too good to work while he went to school and had no problem living off of Archie. The minute he did get a job and was able to move him and Gloria out, he shot down any and all great deals that George Jefferson offered him to move next door, but vowed he wouldn't live next door to Archie, however he was more then happy to continue to live off of Archie until he found something else. It finally took Archie to call him on it before he angrily accepted George's offer. I'm sure there are other examples I could give, but I don't have that kind of time.....there are too many. |
