View Full Version : Patricia Meehan Being Compared to British Columbia Jane Doe!
RobinW 03-29-2011, 01:12 PM http://www.websleuths.com/forums/showthread.php?t=129142
Here's a very interesting discussion from Websleuths about the possibility that an unidentified Jane Doe found in British Columbia could be Patricia Meehan. They initially found a partial skull for the victim in Mission, B.C. in 1995 and then later found bones at the farm of notorious serial killer Robert Pickton in 2002 which were a perfect DNA match to the skull.
Anyway, it wasn't until very recently that they were able to release a composite sketch of the victim and she does bear a resemblance to Patricia Meehan. Added to the fact that you can cross the border into British Columbia from Montana and it's perfectly plausible that she could have travelled her way up there if she became disoriented and started hitching rides. The Websleuthers have already officially called in a tip for Patricia Meehan as a possible match, so the wheels are in motion. It's a long shot and who knows if it will actually lead anywhere, but it's always great to know that an old unsolved mystery still has the possibility for closure.
LooksLikeCRicci 03-29-2011, 09:17 PM Wow. I can definitely see the resemblance between Patricia and the composite. Like everyone else on this board, I would love to see some closure in this case.
Thanks for reporting the development, Robin! :)
Charlie99909 03-30-2011, 12:12 AM Wow, that would really be something. We could piece her final days together if it really is her.
sdb4884 03-30-2011, 05:07 AM Wow that really is amazing!
burbqueen 03-31-2011, 04:44 PM ok so did someone murder her?? I read something about a serial killer??

Well, it's likely that the UID Jane Doe was murdered by convicted serial killer Robert Pickton. Whether or not that Jane Doe is actually Patricia Meehan is something they're hoping to conclude through DNA testing. Officially, Patricia Meehan is still just a missing person. All they have is a composite sketch from the victim's partial skull fragment which kinda resembles Patricia, but LE is willing to follow through on any lead to find out who this victim is and they'll hopefully do a DNA comparison at some point. It's not much, but it's probably the best lead in her case in years.
burbqueen 04-01-2011, 10:25 AM it looks so much like her. I am a websleuther too! I will be shocked if its not her. So she ran off and was murdered? that's a new twist in the case.
Apostapler 04-01-2011, 05:59 PM Holy cow this is exciting! Been a while since I signed into websleuths... It really does look like her.
SageSlowdive 04-03-2011, 05:57 PM That would be heartbreaking to know she was murdered...
But, at least the family will have some kind of closure.

I would be shocked if it was her. It would mean that she was probably working as a prostitute in Vancouver's seedy east-side which I think is unlikely.
Mysteryphile 04-21-2011, 02:40 PM The composite looks a lot like her...especially the nose. I wonder how much longer before they find out for sure if its her...
DML 85 04-24-2011, 08:23 PM Hi lads, first time poster. Yeah, there's a definite resemblance in that composite. I've always been particularly saddened with this case. Patricia was a beautiful looking woman who appeared to be deeply troubled. The car accident seemed to send her over the edge, probably because she feared someone was seriously injured in the collision. Sadly, I doubt she's still alive. The life of a hitchhiker is a dangerous one and that risk is doubled when you're an attractive looking lady.
Hopefully, some closure will be brought to this case.
Drakken 05-02-2011, 11:25 AM It'll take months, as contrarily to popular wisdom DNA testing takes a long time even with current technology.

Pickton grabbed hitchhikers and homeless girls too - if Patricia Meehan was hitchhiking anywhere between Mission and Vancouver, or even in Washington state, he could have picked her up

If she was Osama Bin Laden it'd only take a day or so...
;)
ILikeTurtles 05-22-2011, 08:56 PM I know it will take months...but would love to see an update.
ILikeTurtles 12-19-2011, 09:50 PM Any word on this?

I just checked the WebSleuths thread linked earlier. The last post was in October this year and basically, there's no news yet. Here is a near verbatim quote of the convo in the last post at WS. I removed posters names for privacy (I'm not a member and can't ask their permission to share) and put it in a Q/A format:
Q: Have you heard anything from the detectives? I wonder if they have pursued this lead.
A: No, I haven't. I know from other Canada cases that I've tried to follow-up on, they tend not to be too forthcoming with that info. I haven't called back for any updates on this one.
Clytemnestra 01-25-2014, 08:14 PM I wish there was an update on this one! They look very much alike.
TracyLynnS 01-26-2014, 09:55 AM Here's her NAMUS page: https://www.findthemissing.org/en/cases/8299/0/
The problem is that she's from the US and these remains were found in Canada, so there's probably going to be lack of communication between the two countries. Also, since the remains were found in Canada, they likely won't be entered into the NAMUS site, and we won't see any "rule outs" of people they may have checked in an effort to identify her.
