Recurring are Dennis’s friends Tommy (Billy Booth), Joey (Gil Smith) and Margaret (Jeannie Russell).

Marvo301 03-27-2011, 10:53 PM This sounds like a great set with lots of fun extras! And this show was way overdue for a DVD release! Thank-you Shout factory!
Dina Sylvia Li 03-29-2011, 10:47 PM OMG!!! This is on dvd now.:) I never thought Id see the day. Definitely going to search stores tomorrow.
comedyfreak 03-30-2011, 04:04 AM I ordered mine and it's on the way.
Dina Sylvia Li 03-30-2011, 12:05 PM Went to 3 stores with no luck. Off to amazon I guess.
McGillicuddy 03-30-2011, 05:43 PM I picked it up at Walmart for 19.99!
comedyfreak 03-31-2011, 05:46 AM I picked it up at Walmart for 19.99!
I just got an email from Amazon they refunded me a dollar so I'm only paying 19.99 too, so cool they adjusted the price.

I hope they do the same for me. I pre-ordered mine back in February for $21.99. It still hasn't shipped yet and I'm waiting for the e-mail confirmation. I mean, I wasn't expecting it to be in my hands the day it was released, but I at least thought they'd have shipped it on March 29th.
McGillicuddy 03-31-2011, 11:48 AM I guess I was lucky, to find mine at Walmart and for 19.99! (there was only 2 in stock) I also stopped at Target, which did not have it, and Best Buy, which had a large quantity but was 26.99.
I could have pre-ordered through Amazon, but there's something about running out to these stores on Tuesday or Wendesday, and having it in your hands instantly. Still, you never know if something like DtM will be stocked. I was also looking for Here's Lucy, which wasn't anywhere.

Yeah, the Best Buy near me has cut their selection of dvds by about half. It's really gotten small from what it was a few years ago. I do miss being able to go out to these stores and finding stuff I want there. I remember looking for The Monster Squad a few years back and having to go to a couple different stores before I found it.
And I finally did get my e-mail confirmation for Dennis the Menace about an hour ago and they adjusted the price. :)
comedyfreak 04-01-2011, 09:38 AM My copy arrived yesterday and what a gem of a show. All the eps are new to me since they don't have it in syndication anymore. One episode has a young Ronny Howard, what a treat to see.
McGillicuddy 04-01-2011, 04:53 PM Yeah, isn't it amazing to see Ronnie Howard BEFORE he was Opie!! He would go on to star in TAGS, that next year. Ronnie plays Stuart, in 5 episodes of DTM in season 1.
Dina Sylvia Li 04-02-2011, 09:15 AM Got mine yesterday in the mail from amazon. Watched the 3 first episodes. Picture look great, not as good as leave it to beaver, but pretty close. For some odd reason the first episode didnt look too good. Cant wait to watch the extra features.:) :)
Jack Gomez 04-02-2011, 11:36 AM Mine came today. I think I'm going to watch the extras first, because of those new interviews with Jeannie Russell and Gloria Henry. That's what I've been looking forward to the most. To hear what they have to say about working on the series. :)
Marshall 04-03-2011, 02:43 PM Hello all,
I was watching the bonus material on Disc 5 of the Dennis the Menace set last night. I noticed on my copy that the time counter on my DVD player stays at zero during the the Gloria Henry and Jeannie Russell video interview. That wasn't the case on the other bonus features. There's no chapter spots on the video interview.
Is this the same on anyone else's Disc 5 of the set, or do I have a defective disc? Please let me know.
Thanks,
Marshall

I've watched it on my computer and my portable DVD player and the counter moves just fine. However, I had other other DVDs in the past that the counter wouldn't move on my computer but would work on my portable player. If you have another player try it in that and see if it moves. It could just be a little quirk with the player your using. The video interview only has one chapter stop so that is correct.
bluthree 04-04-2011, 03:32 PM I got my copy a few days ago. Wonderful set. Always been a big fan of this show. I remember Nick use to air reruns of Dennis The Menace back to back with Lassie back in the 80's. I remember coming home from school and running to the TV set so I could watch Lassie and Dennis The Menace on Nick.
Dina Sylvia Li 04-04-2011, 04:33 PM Marshall, there was a counter on mine. But there wasnt chapter stops on the interview.
McGillicuddy 04-04-2011, 07:34 PM I really enjoyed the conversation with Gloria Henry and Jeannie Russell. They really put alot of things about the show in perspective. Wish Jay could have been there!

Thanks for the info, Tazz. I appreciate it. I've decided to get another copy of the DVD from Amazon.

Dina Sylvia Li 04-05-2011, 06:41 PM Youre welcome Marshall.:)
Dina Sylvia Li 04-05-2011, 06:43 PM Maybe its just the episodes I watched. Do these kids from this show live in a strange town, where they never go to school? I cant be the only one that noticed this.
1960'sTVfan 04-05-2011, 08:25 PM If there are no episodes in the TV show where Dennis attends school, it's probably because the shows producers wanted to remain true to the Dennis comic books. The Dennis character in the comic books was about 5 years old and not quite school age yet.
biffbronson 04-05-2011, 08:32 PM Casting for this series was pretty amazing. First of all, Herbert Anderson looked just like the dad in the comics. Joseph Kearns was excellent as Mr. Wilson. Gloria Henry was beautiful and also somewhat reminiscent of the mom in the comics. Joey, Margaret, Mrs. Wilson all fine. And Jay as Dennis really grows on the viewer -- pun intended...!
comedyfreak 04-06-2011, 03:57 AM I really enjoyed the conversation with Gloria Henry and Jeannie Russell. They really put alot of things about the show in perspective. Wish Jay could have been there!
They both are scheduled to appear at the Hollywood Collectors Show in Burbank July 15-17.

Dina Sylvia Li 04-11-2011, 04:12 PM Wow, Im not even halfway through season 1 and I find out that season 2 is coming on July 26 as amazon says.
fladude 08-07-2011, 04:05 PM Neither season is worth buying to over 30 million deaf/hoh as shout factory continues to exclude the market of such, a market that is growing larger as baby boomers age and their years of rock n roll and other things catchs up with worsened hearing.
It is ridiculous for any company to put out TV seasons without either or both Closed Captions or Subtitles, neither is a large expense, plus their a one time cost so every new run of producing fresh stock would have them.
Since they have neither I push stores like walmart to exclude them.. eventually we deaf/hoh will be fed up and demand legislators pass a law requiring all DVD sold in USA have captions or subtitles same as we had the caption law passed for TV programming... same as we had law passed so every model of TV's sold need have caption chip.. same as why we got a law recent requiring internet sites offering episiodes of material previous captioned over air/cable to retain captions on internet...so Abc/cbs/nbc/TNT/SyFy et al will have to keep captions if put up shows on internet websites... next we will target selling DVD's without captions/subtitles..
No excuse for excluding 30+Million potential consumers
and greater sales... many of us who lost hearing before closed captioning came about missed out...we have money to burn...shout factorys short sighted in excluding that market...
I buy TV shows Of shows I missed out when growing up since couldn't watch not hearing squat back then... So I have Bewitched, I dream Of jeanie, and loads of others... Captioned and/or subtitled.
Shout factory lost 2 sales as I would have bought both seasons of DTM
If Even 1 pct of the 30M would buy the seasons that is
300,000 buyers!
Even if only half of 1 pct of 30M deaf/Hoh its still 150,000!
If .25 of 1 pct its still 75,000 sales potentially
Companys putting out old tv seasons really need understand the potential they are losing out on..
The problem is the hearies running many companys even their marketing depts have no clue whatsoever of the potential market they loss..
30M+ is just the number of all in USA with hearing trouble... by not subtitling in english shout factory also cuts out the many english knowing deaf/Hoh in canada, mexico, England, etc...
Hopefully another company acquires the rights to DTM who has better business sense.
I give shout a grade of F
