Jack Klugman was an accomplished movie and stage actor before The Odd Couple. Yet, Jack was very proud to portray the frumpy messy sportswriter. He also didn't mind the dreaded "typecasting" moniker that usually goes to tv stars.

It's funny, I watched Quincy every week. I never really watched The Odd Couple much during iit's original run.

I agree. I think one of the reasons he doesn't mind being remembered as one half of The Odd Couple is that people are then remembering his work with his good friend Tony Randall.
