View Full Version : Tony Alamo Ministries Pamphlet
killgas20 03-16-2011, 05:14 PM I went to Chili's in Oxnard today for lunch with some co-workers. When we left, someone from Tony Alamo Ministries had left a pamphlet on my windshield. They were on every vehicle in the parking lot. I began to laugh hysterically and had to explain to the 2 guys that rode with me who Tony Alamo was.
What was strange was that the pamphlet was dated January - March 2003.
I thought you all on this forum might get a chuckle out of this.
LooksLikeCRicci 03-16-2011, 08:41 PM You should scan it and post it on here. :)
sdb4884 03-17-2011, 01:23 AM Some of his fancy jackets are still available on ebay, i'd buy one if I could afford it.
RobinW 03-17-2011, 08:18 AM That's hilarious  . This would be a great entry on the "You know you're an UM fan if" thread. You know you're a UM fan if you find Tony Alamo pamphlet and can provide a detailed explanation to people about who he is.
But, hey, I'm sure Tony Alamo Ministries is bound to make big comeback. Guy's only got 174 more years left on his prison sentence  .

LooksLikeCRicci 03-17-2011, 11:00 PM I am so bidding on that Barbie jacket. I'm not even close to kidding. What a great conversation piece! :)
Charlie99909 03-18-2011, 12:40 PM Last night I was bar hopping and cut through a local casino when I saw an old white trashy woman wearing what looked like a Tony Alamo Ney York jacket. Or at least a clever rip off. I had to laugh because it was such a coincidence after reading this thread. I wished I'd grabbed a picture of her.
killgas20 03-22-2011, 08:23 PM I'll try and scan the pamphlet this weekend and post to this thread.
killgas20 05-05-2011, 12:26 AM I'm working nights this week. Went out for dinner with a co-worker and had another Alamo pamphlet on our windshield.
I know I've been a slacker in getting these scanned. I'll do it soon!

Hey Ricci did you win?
Have you ever considered that your jacket could have been stitched together by THE RICHARD CHURCH?

That bat**** rambling about how women should be "ruled" and "dominated" by their husbands (especially that "no more equal rights, ladies" bit) because "God wills it" was way too much. Sure, I'll totally allow a rapist, sweatshop overseer, and common thief to be my spiritual lord since he's a dude--OBVIOUSLY that's a real moral compass for every woman to follow. Nutjobbery at its finest.

hahahahahahahaha at the byline in italica underneath the article: "Tony Alamo is probably the greatest patriot this country has ever known". Why do religious zealotry and jingoism seem to go hand-in-hand so much?

But Meg, how can you argue with this: "according to many reports, true godly women will always prefer 1/10th share of a first-rate, scriptural godly, Christian man, and be assured of getting to Heaven, than the exclusive possession of a 2nd or 3rd rate ungodly one and wind up in Hell.". Thats just too much truth to be argued with: its got that nice little combination of scripture and arithmetic I always look for in my preachings.

Oh yeah. It has statistics. It must be true!
I wonder what criteria was used to qualify "true godly women" and "first-rate, scriptural godly, Christian" men. Must've been an interesting, very academic study. Whodda thunk obtaining a good place in the afterlife was as easy as riding on your old man's spiritual coat tail?

I liked that one, too. And the term jingoism, which is probably the most fun word to say in the English language.

Wow.
On page 4, he states "One of the major problems with the world today is that there are ten women for every man." HUH???? Where in the world did he get THAT?!

Yes. The pamphlets I have are similar to that.
WishfulDreamer 05-12-2011, 03:13 PM Wow, he really is a nut! I'm sure you guys will get a real kick out of this: If you watch the Tony Alamo segment on the prohibited site, some of the related videos that pop up are from the Tony Alamo channel that supports and endorses him! You will also have faithful followers posting on the segment itself as though he has done no wrong. Blechhh. It's very troubling that people are still being manipulated and cajoled by this man.
nohwheregirl 07-24-2011, 06:49 PM My friend just moved to L.A. and told me that she got a really crazy anti-Vatican flyer on her windshield. When I asked who wrote it, she said Tony Alamo Ministries. HAHAHAHAHA!!! I explained who he was and asked her to scan the flyer, but I think it's too big to attach here. He might be in prison for the next 200 years, but his cult is apparently still around.
WishfulDreamer 07-25-2011, 09:23 PM I'm glad I've never had a run-in with them here. Is your friend toward the downtown area, by any chance? Sometimes there are some crazy fanatics on the Santa Monica promenade that spout such nonsense (while other times perfectly tolerant people preach. You just never know). One time there was a guy being incredibly bigoted man "preaching" and a friend of mine and I seriously wanted to tear down his projector and/or egg him. Perhaps he was from the cult? ;) I should have tried to get some info.

I believe she's near Brentwood.

Wow, that's...lengthy. You really have to make a commitment to read the whole thing.
WishfulDreamer 12-26-2011, 03:04 AM I'm sick in bed right now, but "Tony Alamo is the greatest patriot this country has ever known" made me feel great! It's been ages since I've laughed this hard.
Killarney Rose 02-26-2012, 09:00 PM I'm in Knoxville this week. Yesterday afternoon we came out of the Walker Springs Wal~Mart and had a Tony Alamo pamplet on our windshield. I had to explain to the kids who he is.
This afternoon we came out of Dollar Tree at Turkey Creek and the cars all aroundours had them. They skipped us this time...maybe they saw yesterday's pamplet on the floor.
Charlie99909 02-27-2012, 01:57 AM A friend of mine just lost a relative who's name was Tony Alamo. I asked her if he was the cult preacher, surprisingly she knew who it was and laughed off a big no.

It does not shock me in the least that one would come away from the Walker Springs Wal-Mart with an Alamo tract under the windshield wiper. That place gets scarier all the time.

Ooooo 1990 UM fan, I've got a good one for you. Do an internet search for "Heather Crawford's Radio Interview with Tony Alamo". It's golden.

Oh my God, that interview was so perverted. He needs a good sock in the face.
