Apparently, more viewers prefer to watch ice being crushed than the Panthers being crushed on ice.

I think the NHL should move several "sun belt" teams to other cities. These would include the likes of Florida, Tampa Bay, Atlanta, and Phoenix.

I still wish a Cleveland Team would be in the NHL.

It's a smaller market than Baseball and Football so this may help Cleveland more than Miami.

But don't call them the Cleveland Barons, that name should be retired, maybe keep the name The Monsters (of the AHL), call them The Cleveland Monsters.

And there can be a great Ohio Rivalry between the Blue Jackets and the Monsters....

What would be more interesting is a comparison between all the cities that have both NHL and NBA cities and not just one city.

These cities have BOTH a basketball and a hockey franchise, but I think the cities where hockey gets the attention is Boston, New York, Toronto, Philadelphia, Detroit, Chicago, Minneapolis/St. Paul, Denver, and Los Angles.

I still think cities such as Kansas City, Cleveland, Winnipeg, Quebec City, Regina (Saskatchewan), Las Vegas, and Seattle would be better markets for Hockey....

Shawn Kemp's long since retired from the NBA. Last I heard, it was 7 kids (I don't know how many mothers). He still has nothing on former NFL star Travis Henry, who has 11 kids by 10 different women (two of those kids are twins). :eek: :eek: :eek: :eek: :eek:

Seattle is the biggest mystery why they are never even mentioned for an NHL team. That one I can't figure out.

The first 4 cities you mentioned did have NHL teams.

Washington may be an up and coming market. For the longest time, they weren't one of the better NHL markets but since they have one of the best players, it is becoming a better market.

The reason Seattle doesn't have a NHL team is the same reason that the Seattle Sonics left town. They don't have an appropriate building in Seattle to host an NBA/NHL franchise. And don't look for one to be built anytime soon. Public (government) funded stadiums have been built in the last 10 years or so in Washington State for both the Seattle Mariners (MLB) and the Seattle Seahawks (NFL). And there is no appetite among government or taxpayers to spend anymore public money on sports stadiums.

That is fine...yes, Kansas City HAD The Scouts for 2 years, Cleveland HAD The Barons for 2 years, Winnipeg HAD The Jets for 18 years, Quebec HAD The Nordquins for 17 years...

But...Seattle DID have a Hockey Team that played against NHL Teams 90 years ago, the 1919 Stanley Cup Finals between The Montreal Canadians and The Seattle Metropolitans ended in a Stalemate because of The Flu!

But yeah, The Seattle Metropolitan Area SHOULD push for an NHL Team and perhaps call them The Metropolitans....

Thanks. I kind of figured that the building issue is why Seattle didn't have a team, or are even mentioned to have a team. They would be the most obvious market not to have a team. Also, Vancouver may be the champions this year. That would be something to look forward to.

Mr. Cleveland - You sure know your hockey history. Although I think the Cleveland team lasted only one year, not 2.

Catlover - Just think, should both the NBA and NFL have labour disputes, than the players will even have more time on their hands to populate the planet. Also, sorry to go off topic on this thread but this was always something in the back of my mind to ask.
