icecream 01-26-2011, 02:14 PM Is Frasier leaving all locals at the end of March or just some?
Pavan 01-26-2011, 05:50 PM I believe it is leaving all, but I'll check on that. Also, Seinfeld is moving back to Tribune in March in the major markets (from Fox).

Pavan, where will Seinfeld be airing in Chicago, since now it's on WPWR/WFLD? Or will it stay on those stations in March?
Tubehead 01-26-2011, 10:52 PM theri not geting ide of some of the judge shows are they? my favoriter are judge pirrio and judge ross and i been likingjudge joe brown. their not getting rid of them are they? i wouldn't care if they got rid of judge judy. i wish they would cut back on the andy grith showi t comes on at least five channels.i been watching new netowrk called my network tv.they show judge alex judge mathis judge ross and peooples court. i like.

I'm guessing this has to do with making room for newer acquisitions in the fall such as The Big Bang Theory, and in 2013, Modern Family? Well, it'll be nice to see Seinfeld on PIX11 here in NY. Guaranteed to be paired with Curb Your Enthusiasm! I believe the last time it was on tribune networks, the CW wasn't in existence yet, correct?
I don't understand syndication at all....why would a show like Frasier be leaving local syndication when older shows like The Cosby Show and Roseanne are still carried on tons of affiliates?
Heck, even I Love Lucy and Andy Griffith are in local syndication.
Pavan 01-27-2011, 01:23 AM Frasier is still on the main syndication package. Meaning it is mostly everywhere. Cosby Show and Roseanne are not everywhere locally. Their main runs ended a while ago (and even that Carsey-Werner package from a few years ago wasn't a main package). Seinfeld is entering its fourth main syndication cycle. Most shows don't last this long in main syndication. I'm not sure if Chicago will be moving it to Tribune, but I know WPIX in NY is getting Seinfeld back after about 10 years.

So, say...Frasier (or a show like) will still be offered but will not be widespread anymore like it is now since it is likely ending its main run?
I like finding shows on locals that you don't see everywhere. One of mine carries The Andy Griffith Show and has for years, it must still do well and of course is not seen on many locals that I'm aware of.
Pavan 01-27-2011, 02:49 AM Depends on if the stations wants it I guess. Some shows disappear forever. Some have to do with the crazy fees after the main run.
bostonmediaguy 01-27-2011, 05:58 PM Seinfeld leaves Fox O&O WFXT/Boston for CBS-owned independent WSBK (TV38) in March.

This is great news! Seinfeld on WSBK and WPIX! Hopefully timeslots are good because FOX has been airing it at 2AM weeknights.

Pavan 02-01-2011, 05:45 PM Pavan, will you be posting a new WPIX schedule for March anytime soon?
This time next week.
ryan423 02-19-2011, 03:34 PM This time next week.
Eagerly awaiting, haha!
Pavan 02-19-2011, 06:42 PM Sorry about the delay, but I was waiting for the full details from both WNYW and WPIX. I had one side but not the other. Now I have both. I will do a story on the blog this week on Seinfeld's move...either Tuesday or Wednesday.
One thing I will share now is Seinfeld will move to WPIX on Sunday, March 20. So its last airing on WNYW will be Friday, March 18. And Frasier is leaving broadcast syndication at the end of this month.
NASHMAN 02-21-2011, 12:42 AM KRCW in Salem/Portland already carries Seinfeld so no harm no foul. In Seattle, KSTW CW 11 carries Seinfeld at 10 PM and 10:30 PM, but it will move to KZJO (The previous KTZZ/KTWB/KMYQ) at 6 PM weeknights in March. But I think Frasier's contract ran in syndication since the fall of 1997 and their runs end I believe the end of next week. BTW, isn't George Lopez also coming to an end in syndication this upcoming fall along with According to Jim? I'm just kinda speculating because last year, Malcolm and Bernie Mac ended their syndication cycles in September after 6 years for Malcolm and 5 years for Bernie Mac. But I do know that two years from now, That '70s Show will end their syndie run when Modern Family takes over. Could you at least confirm?

Why isn't WYNW renewing Seinfeld if it's a huge ratings hit for them?
Why would SONY give it back to PIX though?
How much longer does TBS have the rights for?
IGNTBone 02-23-2011, 09:36 PM Do you have any info for Seinfeld in West Palm Beach, FL? Currently, it's on WFLX FOX 29.
Also Fraiser...also airing on the above station.
Du Mont 02-23-2011, 09:37 PM Pavan, is 'The Honeymooners' still staying on the WPIX sked for Sunday latenight at 1 am?
Pavan 02-24-2011, 02:34 AM Ezzy, WNYW has many sitcoms coming soon, like Big Bang and 30 Rock, so they don't need Seinfeld, which is going into cycle number four. WPIX bought it, Sony didn't give it to them. As for Seinfeld on cable, TBS renewed it back in 2006 through 2011, but I think since then they quietly renewed it for a few more years (I will check). It's been on TBS since 2002.
All the Seinfeld info I have is in the story. Other markets, you'll have to check your listings when available. Frasier is leaving everywhere after March 6. Even Lifetime...but it returns to cable only in April on Hallmark.
Du Mont, yes Honeymooners remains at 1am Sunday nights.
icecream 02-24-2011, 02:19 PM Ezzy, WNYW has many sitcoms coming soon, like Big Bang and 30 Rock, so they don't need Seinfeld30 Rock is going to do a lot worse than Seinfeld.
ryan423 02-25-2011, 02:49 AM 30 Rock is going to do a lot worse than Seinfeld.
Completely agree. The Big Bang Theory (this fall) and Modern Family (in 2013) will both do incredible in syndication though, so if ratings for 30 Rock aren't too hot, they can simply give it a late night slot.

I really like the fact that Seinfeld will be on WPIX and also WSBK (anybody know the timeslots?). What I don't understand is why Friends moves from 6-7 to 5-6 weekdays replacing Old Christine. Seems like a strange move.
Plus, TBS is moving Friends to 5-6 as well so that frustrates me that they will be on both channels at the exact same time. Seinfeld on TBS will be 6-7 now instead of 7-8. I loved Seinfeld being on from 7-8, it's the best time for it.
As for WPIX's Seinfeld timeslots, I think they did a great job. Love the Sunday lineup of Friends and Seinfeld from 8-10. Crazy how a local channel like PIX can offer some similar content to TBS which is a cable channel. Weekdays 11pm-midnight is also very good for a Seinfeld audience.
Pavan 02-26-2011, 02:41 AM Cause Old Christine is not doing well on WPIX. Nor on Lifetime for that matter.
Daboss94 02-26-2011, 06:35 AM Is Entourage staying at 12:30? How is that doing for PIX?
Pavan 02-26-2011, 12:38 PM It is struggling everywhere (even on Spike TV), but WPIX is sticking with it following Curb.

On WSBK, Seinfeld will air weeknights at 7PM (replacing one airing of How I Met Your Mother), and 11PM (followed by Curb, Entourage, and South Park, bumping out one episode of My Name Is Earl). WSBK has not made it 100% clear if they are keeping Frasier at 4PM or not, even though it's ending mostly everywhere in local syndication. Maybe they are signing a special deal. But from what I see How I Met Your Mother and My Name Is Earl lose one episode each (probably the secondary airing), but will still be on the schedule. I'm glad about Seinfeld because I can watch it from 6-7 on TBS and 7-7:30 on WSBK. Sounds good to me.

Oh, yes, I forgot about that. I even asked the "Blockhead" on Facebook. I guess it's "Old Christine" who gets the boot. Also, I thought "Everybody Hates Chris" holds the 2:30AM slot.
Moseph3 02-27-2011, 12:47 AM I just saw a commercial today on my local fox station, WTTG in Washington,DC, is going to start airing The Big Bang Theory this fall. Does anyone know what time it will come on? I would have to guess either 6:30 or 7:00 because currently we have TMZ and Seinfeld, followed by The Office at 7:30, but that just started two years ago. I hope it BBT doesn't bump Seinfeld off.

Very good news. Love the 7 and 11 timeslots. They never like to double up on shows, though. For example, how That 70's Show would air at 4:30 and 9:30 last year, etc.
I think we will both be watching Seinfeld 6-7 on TBS and then at 7 on WSBK :)

Wow, that is an early promo! Usually they start in early summer, but late winter?? Way too early to tell what time slot, though. But Seinfeld is moving in March in D.C. as we reported... http://blog.sitcomsonline.com/2011/02/seinfeld-moving-in-many-markets-in.html
And I don't think Old Christine is doing that hot on WGN America either.

I can only assume HIMYM does well on WGN though considering the Sunday night marathons and continued back-to-back episodes on a daily basis? I hope so. I actually find myself watching it the most on WGN.

Ok, thanks for the news. I was shocked when I saw the commercial though. A couple of years ago we had The Simpsons at 7:00 and Seinfeld at 7:30 on our local FOX station. Then in the summer of 09, I saw a commercial that The Office was coming to FOX. So when I saw that commercial for The Big Bang Theory, I figured it must be replacing Seinfeld seeing as FOX just got The Office, and I didn't know about Seinfeld's new deal with Tribune.
tbswatcher 02-27-2011, 03:27 PM Wow, that is an early promo! Usually they start in early summer, but late winter??My local FOX WPFO aired a promo for The Big Bang Theory yesterday too. I was surprised it aired so early.
An 80s Guy 02-28-2011, 03:52 PM The Big Bang Theory is going to be a huge hit in syndication, both local and on TBS.
I would have double-run Seinfeld at 10PM; certainly would do better than The Office.
Pavan, how is The Office doing in local syndication, anyway? The reason I ask is because the local Fox station picked it up during the first season, airing it twice a night, but dumped both airings to their sister-station (a formerly digital-only MyNetworkTV affiliate) for the second season. It was replaced by How I Met Your Mother.
icecream 03-08-2011, 08:22 PM Seinfeld is moving from my NBC station to my CW station. As a result they're making a lot of changes on March 21.

An 80s Guy 03-10-2011, 12:26 PM Anyone know how How I Met Your Mother is doing in local syndication?
mets82 03-14-2011, 09:39 PM Can you tell me the syndication for Connecticut stations for the fall 2011?
On the subject of syndication, has Frasier re-surfaced in anyone's markets?
WMYA in Greenville/Spartanburg/Asheville got Frasier - they're airing it at 5:30AM weekdays
icecream 04-15-2011, 12:47 AM Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader and Don't Forget the Lyrics (syndie versions) have been cancelled at the end of this season.
icecream 04-15-2011, 12:50 AM On the subject of syndication, has Frasier re-surfaced in anyone's markets?Frasier never left mine. My Mynetwork station is airing it 4-5PM weekdays, same as before it expired from national syndication. It did replace the 7PM Saturday hour with Deadliest Catch.
tbswatcher 04-15-2011, 01:34 PM On the subject of syndication, has Frasier re-surfaced in anyone's markets?
In my market, Portland ME, WPFO FOX 23 never stopped airing it at 11:00pm and 1:00am. The only thing that changed was its Sunday night slot of 12:00am being removed.
Entguy1 04-16-2011, 10:58 AM From what I understand (and someone in the industry can correct me if I'm wrong), the syndication deal with "Frasier" stopped in mid-March. But individual stations can still buy it and run it without the national advertising. (Kind of like how 20th did with "The Simpsons").
Here in the Quad-Cities IA/IL, it went from 12:30 and 1:30a on our Fox station to 4-5 p.m. on a competing MyTV station.
R.jsheedy 04-16-2011, 04:49 PM Whats coming to Boston???
Yes, Frasier's main run ended but locals can still acquire it if they wish (like they do with Roseanne, The Cosby Show, Andy Griffith around here). So the stations that kept it probably just acquired it in a different deal right after the main run ended. Nice to see it living on!
I wish WYCW would have kept it here, though. It would have fit in with the other sitcoms they have.
ekkostar 04-18-2011, 08:47 PM In my market, Portland ME, WPFO FOX 23 never stopped airing it at 11:00pm and 1:00am. The only thing that changed was its Sunday night slot of 12:00am being removed.
Good to see there's someone else in my area keeping up on the locals.
Too bad I don't see much on WPME other than that silly Dollar Saver and the same block of That 70s Show and George Lopez that has been revolving for the past few years.
NASHMAN 06-14-2011, 02:15 AM Anyone know what shows will be leaving syndication come September?
icecream 06-14-2011, 11:40 AM The Addams Family aired on my NBC station Sunday. That was a nice surprise, didn't know it was being offered to locals.

Has Psychic Court been picked up? Haven't heard a word about it, or seen anything in the trades, since NATPE.
icecream 07-05-2011, 04:12 PM My Mynetwork affiliate is advertising they're the new home of FOX starting August 1. They're calling it MyFOX Fort Wayne so both networks will air on it. I wonder what will air on my old FOX affiliate, hopefully it will be MeTV, Antenna TV, or RTN.
On the subject of syndication, has Frasier re-surfaced in anyone's markets?
WMYA in Greenville/Spartanburg/Asheville got Frasier - they're airing it at 5:30AM weekdays
Here in St.Louis it running on a religious station KNLC of all places long with Star Trek:TNG. It was previously on the ABC affiliate KDNL for a long time. At least there getting 30 Rock this fall.

Catsrule, the trades are reporting that 55 will be called "WFFT Local," with "The Insider" at 8, "Extra" at 8:30 and "Law & Order: SVU" at 9, beginning Aug. 1. By mid-September "L&O" will be replaced by two eps of "Big Bang Theory." And the 10 p.m. news expands to an hour.

Entguy1 07-27-2011, 11:51 AM Anyone know what shows will be leaving syndication come September?
Nashman, just read a blog that said first-run "Judge Jeanine Pirro" is out, and that "My Wife and Kids" has been pulled. Plus, of course "5th Grader" and "Lyrics" are toast.
icecream 08-05-2011, 10:32 PM Something good that came out of the FOX affiliate switch, the new FOX removed all of its Jerry Springer airings. These are the changes they made on weekdays.
11:00AM Family Feud/Punkd replaces Jerry Springer
3:00PM Cold Case Files replaces Jerry Springer
8-10PM FOX Primetime replaces MyNetworkTV Primetime
10:30PM-12:30AM My NetworkTV Primetime replaces Curb Your Enthusiasm/Entourage/Cold Case Files
12:30AM Curb Your Enthusiasm replaces New Adventures of Old Christine
1:00 AM Entourage replaces Punkd
1:30AM New Adventures of Old Christine replaces Comics Unleashed
Pavan 08-05-2011, 11:38 PM Entourage and Curb are NOT in local syndication next season.
icecream 08-06-2011, 12:55 AM My former FOX station is adding three hours a week of classic shows: Saturdays in the 11AM hour and Sunday nights from 12-2AM. Looks like it will be rotating shows, this week it's four episodes of I Love Lucy and 2 episodes of The Lucy Show. Next week it's 2 episodes of Marshal Dillon, 1 episode each of Hogan's Heroes and The Phil Silvers Show, and 2 episodes of Gomer Pyle, USMC.
Entguy1 08-06-2011, 01:39 PM Something good that came out of the FOX affiliate switch, the new FOX removed all of its Jerry Springer airings.
Jerry Springer will stay on 55, I assume. There's probably going to be a lot of flux in the schedule until mid-September.
mets82 08-06-2011, 09:34 PM A quick note. 30 Rock is going to be on WCTX. Dr. Oz will take over Oprahs timeslot in Connecticut. He will begin Sept. 12 at 4pm on WFSB, which is the CBS affilate.
Sorry to hear that judge jeanne piro's show os toast, she wasn't bad. Frasier never eft Pittsburgh airwaves, it moved from 53 wpgh to 22 wpmy for about a half year, and then went back to wpgh where it swapped with judge alex.

Thanks a lot bostonmediaguy! Big Bang on WNYW weeknights 7:30pm and 11pm in NY. We should have fall schedules for NYC in a few weeks.
Saw a 30 Rock promo on WNYW so it should be going there as opposed to WWOR. Also saw a promo for WWOR highlighting all of its programming, and it included The Office on the comedy side (in addition to HIMYM, KofQ, ELR).

Yeah, with the edition of The Big Bang Theory to WNYW at 7:30pm and 11pm, I had a feeling The Office was moving to WWOR. I'm guessing 30 Rock will air at 11:30 or in the midnight hour on WNYW in the Fall.
Really wanna see the schedules for WNYW, WWOR, and WPIX already!!

mets82 08-15-2011, 08:46 PM Where would I go to find out about what shows are going to be on in synidication in Connecticut?
ryan423 08-15-2011, 09:32 PM It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia (Twentieth Television) (NYC: WPIX, M-F 2AM)
Any idea if this means SCRUBS is leaving syndication, or if it's just moving time slots or networks again?
Entguy1 08-17-2011, 11:55 AM Any idea if this means SCRUBS is leaving syndication, or if it's just moving time slots or networks again?
I believe this cycle of "Scrubs" is ending this summer. Here it went from being on late, late night on our Fox/CW combo to afternoons on MyTV.
ryan423 08-17-2011, 05:17 PM Dr. Drew's Life Changers will air on WPIX in NYC at 3pm and 3:30pm. So, here's what we know about WPIX this Fall -
1:00PM - The Bill Cunningham Show
3:00PM - Dr. Drew's Life Changers
3:30PM - Dr. Drew's Life Changers
4:00PM - Anderson
2:00AM - It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia
And, at some point in the schedule, most likely appearing alongside Family Guy will be American Dad.
Entguy1 08-17-2011, 06:02 PM 1:00PM - The Bill Cunningham Show
Is Cunningham going to be on anywhere besides the Tribune-owned stations?

7:30pm - The Big Bang Theory
11:00pm - The Big Bang Theory
11:30pm - 30 Rock
12:00am - 30 Rock
I'm sure the network is hoping BBT will help boost 30's ratings, but I hate when they split hour blocks between two different hours or show two episodes at different parts of the day. I was hoping to see...

ryan423 08-29-2011, 01:44 PM WWOR (My9 in New York City) updates -
As I expected, The Office is moving to My9 to make room for 30 Rock and The Big Bang Theory on Fox 5 (WNYW).
4:00pm - The Jeremy Kyle Show
10:30pm - The Office
11:00pm - Excused (Seems like a new, nightly candid camera show)
11:30pm - The Office
Once again, I hate the splitting up of one show like this, even if I don't watch it! I'm sure this is being done to sandwich a new show in between a ratings-grabber, but still, couldn't they have done this? ...

IllinoisTVFan 08-29-2011, 03:02 PM I emailed MyNetwork in Chicago (WPWR Channel 50)and they never emailed me back. When will their schedule be available?
SpenceOlchin 08-29-2011, 03:08 PM WNBC's Shiba Russell tweeted the following:
"Breaking: Forget 9/12 the 5pm news is here to stay...starting today! See u @5 with @TomLlamas4NY @NBCNewYork"

New York Live is now on at 3PM.

Probably because they only speak with Pavan. And they know he can keep a secret.

Fall 2011
1:00 AM Scrubs (eff 9/12/11)
Now all 9 seasons of Scrubs will have aired on ABC, haha, at least in NYC. Interesting placement. Maybe this network will actually air season 9, which I have yet to see on Pix11.
ryan423 08-30-2011, 12:22 PM The Big Bang Theory will be airing 24 times a week in New York City. 10 times a week on WNYW, 4 times a week on WWOR, and 10 times a week on TBS. I love the show, but can you say overkill?! Maybe if it had 7-8 seasons under its belt, but it only has 4 seasons, 87 episodes total so far. Every episode will air within a month!

mets82 08-30-2011, 03:35 PM Pavan or anyone, maybe you could answer this for me. I live in Connecticut and I had WWOR, WNYW and PIX 11 for years. Im 29 yrs. old and I grew up with those 3 channels out of New York. Now, in the past 7 or 8 yrs., I've lost WWOR, WNYW and PIX 11. My point is how and why did they get rid of those channels? I mean they were on for years and now there gone. Is there anyway I could get those channels back somehow?

Pavan 08-30-2011, 08:14 PM The addition of Scrubs on WABC is brilliant. Will fit well out of Jimmy Kimmel Live! See our story, if you haven't seen it yet: http://blog.sitcomsonline.com/2011/08/new-york-city-local-stations-fall-2011.html
icecream 08-30-2011, 09:43 PM My ABC station used to air Scrubs after Jimmy Kimmel. It must not have done well there, they replaced it with Everybody Hates Chris a few years ago and Scrubs hasn't aired in Fort Wayne locals since then.
ryan423 08-30-2011, 10:26 PM The addition of Scrubs on WABC is brilliant. Will fit well out of Jimmy Kimmel Live! See our story, if you haven't seen it yet: http://blog.sitcomsonline.com/2011/08/new-york-city-local-stations-fall-2011.html
Pavan, this is Scrubs' fourth local affiliate in New York to air the show. First WNYW, then WWOR, then WPIX, and now WABC. Is the constant moving from network to network due to bad ratings, or just because of a network running out of space for it?
Pavan 08-31-2011, 12:01 AM Not sure of its ratings in NY, but it has had more than one cycle it seems in broadcast syndication. That's always a good sign.

bostonmediaguy 09-07-2011, 01:45 PM WSBK is a superstation? I live in Rhode Island and we don't have access to it, how is it available throughout the USA?
Call your cable provider; I know off-hand that DISH has it. Here's info. I found in a quick Google search. http://transition.fcc.gov/mb/shva/shviafac.html
WPIX/New York, KTLA/Los Angeles, WWOR/Secaucus, NJ are the other three.

Thanks, I found out my cable provider, COX communications does not carry it.
tbswatcher 09-08-2011, 04:21 PM MetroCast in 1997 (Of course back then it was called New England Cablevision) carried WSBK before WPME signed on. I'm just guessing here but I bet WSBK was probably carried back before it became affiliated with UPN. I remember this because I noticed one day instead of UPN 38 the icon on channel 18 was UPN 35 (WPME). So most likely NE Cablevision switched to the local affiliate in Portland instead of Boston.
Now I also know of a cable company in Maine that actually still carries WSBK. It is Bee Line Cable in Millinocket, Skowhegan and Farmington. All 3 different Bee Line Cable areas carry it on Ch. 3.

bostonmediaguy do you know of any places that still carry WSBK out of the Boston DMA?

I'm still digging to find a list; but I do have that TV38 is carried on 350 providers to 4.1M subscribers... can't find an exact date but looks to be within the past five years.

Thanks! I am guessing that it's probably only for those that have Satellite TV. I only have digital cable.
