MrCleveland 12-19-2010, 02:07 PM Next Year (In 2 weeks) I'm going to get my Wisdom Teeth removed and a Molar replaced. I'm very worried because I think I may be in a buttload of pain the entire week and should I miss-out of work the day after and what foods should I eat that entire week?
Because the foods I thought would be mashed potatoes, tomato soup, cream o'wheat, and ice cream.
I had all four wisdom teeth and all four molars removed four years ago. It wasn't as bad as I was expecting (the pain afterward, that is).
As for the foods you can eat during recovery, I stuck to soup, mashed potatoes and milkshakes. I believe I was back to eating solids in three or four days.
HuntingtonM15 12-20-2010, 11:46 PM I'd recommend not going to work the day after. After a couple days I was back to normal, but yeah, at least take that day off.
Yooch 12-21-2010, 12:58 AM I remember when my son had all four wisdom teeth out on the same day. Everybody's different of course, but it wasn't that bad. That same night we even went out to a get together, and there was some pain, but it wasn't anywhere like what he or us expected; you'll be fine.
ponytail 12-21-2010, 06:31 AM Really it isn't that bad. I didn't go to work the next day and I didn't need any pain relief. Just do as the doctor says and everything will be fine.
Courtnee 12-21-2010, 08:49 PM I recently had all four of my wisdom teeth removed and I'm not going to lie...IT WAS INCREDIBLY PAINFUL. Plan on taking a day off from work. And plan on a soft food diet for at least a week. Ice cream will be your best friend.
MrCleveland 12-21-2010, 11:28 PM Thanks for all the advice.
But what would be best...a Bridge where my molar used to be, a false molar, an implant, or have it be gaped?
Yooch 12-24-2010, 10:44 PM Discuss it with your dentist/oral surgeon; I'd think that if the molar doesn't impact (no pun) your appearance, I'l just leave the space; If it were a front tooth or incisor, I'd be more inclined to do something cosmetically. I wouldn't think a molar, or a space left by it is that visible, if at all. Of course, if your dentist has a structural reason for putting in a spacer or something, then I'd do it. Just discuss it and get all the facts first.
comedyfreak 12-25-2010, 10:06 AM They may want to do a bridge if no tooth is there it will cause the others to shift. I feel you pain two weeks ago I had a broken tooth fixed it was sore for two days where I had to take Tylenol after eating. I go for the permanant tooth January 4th.
Miss Lisa 12-25-2010, 11:50 PM I too am getting my wisdom teeth removed, but mine is on Dec. 30. I was jw what they usually give you for painkillers. Im kinda afraid of a few of them so thats really my main concern.

Before my surgery (like to deal with pain until I had my wisdom teeth removed) I had Lortab 5s, then after surgery, I was prescribed Lortab 10s.
Miss Lisa 12-26-2010, 07:45 PM Okay, that shouldn't be too bad. Today i was talking to one of my friends and she said that they put her on tylenol 3 with codine and i guess that wouldn't be bad either. I just don't want to be put on Vicodin, my Aunt's addicted to that stuff and I just don't think that I could take it.
Miss Lisa 12-31-2010, 08:53 PM Okay, to MrCleveland, I just got mine taken out yesterday. Honestly, this morning I woke up with no pain, my main problem is swelling. If you can keep the swelling down you should be good. I would tell you how I felt yesterday, but they put me on Vicodin, and I have never been on painkillers before and that along with coming out of anesthia (how ever you spell it) I really don't remember much of anythign at all from yesterday except for the fact that I bled a lot. With getting all four removed be prepared to be changing gauze all day. As for the food, stick to stuff like pudding, yogurt, mashed potatoes, applesauce, stuff that you don't even have to chew. Also, no straws, those could pull out your stitches.

I heard about Dry Socket and I heard that hurts like hell.
I will get some gauze to take home, will I?
Miss Lisa 01-02-2011, 12:41 AM Yep yep! They give you a packet of gauze. They're little folded sqares that you can fold and bite down on. I think you have to wait at least two hours before you change it for the first time. Like I said, theres a lot of blood, so don't let that freak you out when yu change it your first time.
MrCleveland 01-03-2011, 07:05 PM I went through, I told them to do 3 of 5 teeth...the ones that were on my left jowl because of the decay and the other one was growing on its side.
I had pain after the extraction...mostly from my left temple, they sewed the area where the tooth was growing on its side.
I have to go in again because they couldn't do all of them at once.
MrCleveland 01-31-2011, 08:15 AM I go back in today. These Wisdom Teeth aren't impacted, they're not rotted, and they look like teeth....
I'll feel better than the last time...will I?
MrCleveland 01-31-2011, 01:10 PM I came...
I saw...
I felt no pain and it was faster than the last time!
ponytail 02-01-2011, 06:28 AM It wasn't so bad was it? I'm glad it went well!
Yooch 02-05-2011, 12:15 AM Nice to hear. Glad it went well.
Schmoopie 02-05-2011, 05:26 AM Ugh... I really feel for you! I had mine out (all four) in 1985 and I still cringe when I think about it. Not to scare you or anything because I'm sure that technology has greatly improved since then. But as others have said, it didn't take that long for them to heal and I felt better in about a week or so.
Miss Lisa 02-08-2011, 11:15 PM I'm glad it went well for you :) I honestly have no rememberance of mine. Lol, that includes the day of and the few days after. I found pictures that I had taken right after my surgery, and I didn't even know I had them.
Georgia's on my Mind 02-09-2011, 05:34 AM I'm highly evolved and was born without any wisdom teeth. I love it! I am so glad I will never have to go through that pain.
aww that was so pain ful, when it happened to me i remember i didn't ate for two days, hopr your's goes well

It went well...and that was a month ago.
I just now have to get my teeth drilled and filled which isn't that bad since my teeth will still be there....
