View Full Version : Who do you like talking about cases with or hearing from on cases on UM forum?
melskie007 12-16-2010, 10:23 AM I was wondering who do you all like talking about cases with on here or hearing from on cases because of thier mind set? I know sometimes we debate against each other on here, so who to you would also be a good debater on unsolved mysteries cases?
I personally so far like how the following people think:
Cocytus- good points of view many times.
Crystaldawn-intellgent approach to so many topics and wow updates are tremendous!
Tracylynns- When I wake up in the morning and have my coffee, I see you always have fresh posts on here. I read them. I think wow, your thought process on some of these and the info you bring to the UM forum, great!
I know I'm new here so this is really more for just seeing how you all view each other and what you all think about others posts and feedback.
TracyLynnS 12-16-2010, 10:45 AM Thank you, Melskie, that's so sweet.
Among others, I like reading posts from Mastermind, Mozart, and a guy who recently left the group (again lol).
They often have interesting points of view, sometimes different from mine, and make solid arguments for their
subject. Their info has encouraged me to study a case or a subject in more detail, outside of the forums here.
Their posts have educated me and in some cases, caused me to change my opinion on certain UM cases and
even some other topics.

yes, I didn't think of Mastermind but he offers very interesting details about cases. I like his theories, they always seem to make sense to what I'm thinking. I too also like to study cases off the UM forum, I'm currently attending school for law and always have interest in these unsolved cases. I come up with the best plausible theory I gather from the info given but I can be totally off and it really could be towards a different direction. I love reading others views on each case and what details they have to add. And i always encourage solid arguments for the subject matter as long as it sticks close to what is being discussed and you have ample examples or relevent fact or other cases to compare to.
Hambone2421 12-16-2010, 01:33 PM I appreciate and like everyone's opinions on here. However, Mastermind and Smokescreen are my two favorite posters to discuss cases with. Mastermind, Smoke and I have gone back and forth on the Eric Tamiyasu case and could probably continually discuss it until we pass out, lol.

Hey thanks brother!
I appreciate and like everyone's opinions on here.
I agree! It's really interesting to read different perspectives and see how others think. There's times I'll read a post a gain a new insight, which is really cool. And sure, there are some opinions I can't/ won't agree with but I nonetheless appreciate the input.
But who are my favorite posters, you ask? Why, there the ones I'm friends with on FB (And y'all know who you are!) :tiphat:
nohwheregirl 12-21-2010, 11:50 PM Can we talk about who we DON'T like to hear from? I think that thread would be much more fun. :p
Maybe we should have a UM message board Homecoming court. I nominate Crystaldawn for Homecoming Queen and Robert Stack (posthumously) for Homecoming King.
Seriously, tho, my peeps know who they are. Holla! Do we need another Mastermind-stroking thread/popularity contest?
Oooga Chucka 12-22-2010, 12:02 AM Mastermind was definitely smart and insightful, but I think that Mozart and Meg are my favorites. Just smart and funny people.
wiseguy182 12-22-2010, 02:58 AM I have been posting on here for almost 5 years, and I can honestly say this is the most absurd thread I have ever seen, hands down. The only thing this thread accomplishes is to give the notion that some people's input is more valuable than others, and that is simply not the case. I sinecerely hope this entire thread gets deleted. And the suggestion of a thread regarding "who we don't like to hear from" is even more absurd, although I am entirely not surprised the person who mentioned it would suggest such a thing.

Actually, I 100% agree with you. I like to think that this message board is a pretty democratic place. I really like most of you guys, but I don't think we need to have a popularity contest.
I know the suggestion to list who we don't like was absurd, which is why I made it. Jokes!
Merry Christmas, wiseguy!
TheCars1986 12-22-2010, 05:21 PM I like wiseguy.
Apostapler 12-23-2010, 01:12 AM I like [insert random name of person to stroke ego] and their posts.
However [insert annoying person with crappy opinions] really bugs me.
melskie007 12-23-2010, 01:32 AM I also mentioned good debater? This isnt a contest of who's who...and quite honestly if you write on any forum back and forth, you notice this already... I agree with the opinions that i feel are very close if not right on the case as also i disagree with opinions i feel are way off..wether i liked the above peoples views, i may or may not agree with them depending on the case.
I don't really feel this places emphasis on anyone as you may argue with the same person tomorrow on different views. It's just interesting on who you feel is someone you feel has much information to add or you feel you like arguing opinions with? Some of the above i mentioned as they always seem to have the info they pull and some event provide links to sources, which is helpful with any case.
wiseguy182 12-23-2010, 02:49 AM Starting a thread about who you think are the "best" posters on here is incredibly tacky, and reeks of clique-ish friend rewarding. And this all comes after reading enough pro-Dislimb (banned member) and pro-Awsi Dooger comments to last me 10 lifetimes. I'm sure most of us like some members posts more than others, but these things are best kept to one's self. Talking about your favorite posters will only seek to alienate yourself from everyone else, probably not something you want to do.
As far as thoughts on cases go, we are all just speculating here. I don't believe my thoughts are better than anyone elses because it is all purely speculation. Heck, for all I know, Tim McClure could be completely innocent and I would have to eat a large order of crow. Well, it is possible.
And I say all this not because I feel my name should have been included. Heck, I wouldn't even count myself in the top 5 here. But I was very disappointed that there was very little to no respect for the long time posters (some of whom have been here since day one)/those with an almost encylcopediac knowledge of cases and updates/those who have went to enormous lengths to provide for this community (whether it be articles, or whatever). I'm talking about people like crystaldawn, justins5256, Kane, dynoguy88 and DarkDante. I think you guys should have mentioned those people, and not people like some recently retired (again) poster who's sole mission on here was to fling crap at everyone and defend criminals

I did mention crystaldawn. And there is nothing synical of what im posting. We are all adults here and love talking about mystery. Your input is appreciated here as well, no-one is above anyone on here, we are all different thinkers in the end and it is fun to come on here and talk about varias subjects. I don't believe any one person is being singled out on this thread, everyone is welcomed. But i see your upset by this because you feel you should have been included on a top list of some sort? I mentioned a few here but this is an open thread so several can be listed. I will say this- I do like your passion for things you believe in, your not afraid to state your opinion and that is a valuable gift to have, great asset to bring aboard most deffinately!
burbqueen 12-23-2010, 02:37 PM thank you melskie. I dont mind this thread and if some are offended then don't post, but I didnt think it was a popularity contest just who has contributed opinions and views that you really appreciate or in my case encourgaged me to jump on in! I also appreaciate Darkdante and tracylynn.
This board, unlike some of the others I frequent, really have some old timers on here! LOL!

Yes, i mentioned to tracylynn i get on here in the mornings after drinking my coffee and check out what people are saying on here. I'm glad this forum is made for those of us that enjoy talking about all the things we grew up with and things of interest. I admit when i agree with others comments and admit when i do not but i always enjoy reading what others thoughts are. I see your baby in your picture..very darling!
MegtheEgg86 12-24-2010, 01:16 PM Mastermind was definitely smart and insightful, but I think that Mozart and Meg are my favorites. Just smart and funny people.
That's very kind of you to say. Thank you so much. :)
Oldschooler81 12-26-2010, 10:17 PM Well personally, I like and appreciate a vast majority of people who post here. I don't want to say names, only because I know I'm bound to forget some people, and I don't wanna risk leaving anyone out too. I'm personable and open minded, so I can usually be friends with or see at least SOME things I like in almost everyone. :)
Even if there's been cases where I've gotten disagreements on things I've said (i.e. Jenny Pratt's mom) I don't mind. As long as people are polite and engaging, I actually enjoy debate and differing opinions, since thinking outside the box is how alot of these cases break ground in the first place. Being open minded and doing detective work is almost similar in that respect, lol!
I've noticed I tend to do alot of hypotheticals too (on the serious in depth stuff as well as lighter topics), like "What if The Wackers did this instead" or "Who on UM would be friends with each other?" so I guess I dig when others think of stuff beyond the surface too.
crystaldawn 12-26-2010, 10:43 PM I didn't have a problem with this thread but feel I should lock it as I don't want it to create problems. I appreciate the kind words said about me. That being said every poster on here contributes to this board in different ways. There are so many different views and that makes for great discussions. I've had people on here talk about cases that I have read and posted about for years have some insight or mention something about the thread I hadn't noticed and that is great. It isn't just a few people who makes a great message board but a community of people sharing thoughts and theories with other fans.
