Maybe if they'd made her a regular, it would've lasted!! (Bob went off the air around the same time The Golden Palace did, if I remember correctly.)

View Full Version : I never knew Betty White was on this show!!!! catlover79 11-24-2010, 03:59 PM Maybe if they'd made her a regular, it would've lasted!! (Bob went off the air around the same time The Golden Palace did, if I remember correctly.) dlemond 11-24-2010, 04:43 PM Apparently she joined the cast in the second season. (Lisa Kudrow appeared in 3 episodes as well) Season 2 only lasted 8 episodes. catlover79 11-25-2010, 01:35 AM Ahhh, I see. I never saw Bob, so I didn't know Betty had become a regular. I guess by that point, it was too little, too late. Thanks for the enlightenment, Michael!! Adamantium 11-25-2010, 01:39 AM Yeah, I watched this show when it was new and then taped all the episodes when TV Land aired it years ago. Season two was a total revamp, changing Bob's job and thus co-workers. Bob worked at a Greeting Card company and Betty White was someone there, I can't remember who, lol. Mr. Television 11-25-2010, 09:46 AM I loved the first season of Bob. I didn't even watch the second season. The problem with Bob was the day of the week it aired. It aired on a Friday opposite TGIF. old grouch 11-25-2010, 09:01 PM The revamped second season of 'Bob' only ran for like three weeks. It's too bad that they didn't give it another chance on another night, like Monday for instance. With the combination of Bob Newhart and Betty White, this show could have been a lot of fun. catlover79 11-25-2010, 09:22 PM If Bob had aired in Newhart's old timeslot (Mondays at 9, I believe) - it might have had a decent shot. howierules86 11-26-2010, 10:55 AM I have an episode of "The Price Is Right" from Oct. 1993 where at the very end, there was a commercial for "Bob" with this song (sung to the tune of "Barbara Ann"): Bob, Bob, Bob, Bob, Bob is back, Bob is back!! The Bob you love's on Friday night with Jere Burns & Betty White, Bob is back, back, back on CBS! Yeah, catchy tune, I know. Also, Betty White played Sylvia Schmitt, who hired Bob for the presidency of the Greeting Card company he started working at, and Jere Burns played her son Pete. catlover79 11-26-2010, 02:16 PM Wow, I didn't know Jere Burns was on the show, either!! biffbronson 11-26-2010, 08:55 PM I guess my viewing habits were similar to others' here -- If this is the Bob series I'm thinking of, where he played a comic book artist in the 1st season, that was the only season I saw. I was a Cynthia Stevenson fan of sorts, and I see that she continued into Season 2 for a while, but I have no memory of the greeting card career for Bob. I did enjoy what I saw, though I admit that I was probably spending more time admiring Cynthia's form than paying attention to the storylines...! McGillicuddy 11-26-2010, 09:02 PM Betty White would have joined Bob in the fall of 1993, when the second season started. The Golden Palace was on 1992-1993 (ending in the spring). The second season of Bob just lasted until December, so she was on about 12 weeks. In September of 1995, Betty was cast in Maybe This Time, playing Marie Osmond's mother. catlover79 11-27-2010, 12:56 PM I vaguely remember Maybe This Time - didn't Ashley Johnson (Growing Pains) play Betty's granddaughter? McGillicuddy 11-27-2010, 05:39 PM Yes about Ashley Johnson. If studios were smart, they would release all these short-lived series Betty White was on, while she's so hot! The Betty White Show (1978); The Golden Palace (1992-93); Bob (1992-93); Maybe This Time (1995-96). howierules86 11-27-2010, 07:42 PM I vaguely remember Maybe This Time - didn't Ashley Johnson (Growing Pains) play Betty's granddaughter? Maybe This Time was a 1995-96 ABC sitcom in which Betty White & Marie Osmond played mother-daughter employees of a coffee shop, and Ashley Johnson played Marie's daughter on the show. Also, another note-worthy cast member was Craig Ferguson, who played Logan, a British cook at the coffee shop. ABC scheduled this sitcom on Saturday nights, which is what likely led to the show lasting less than a year. catlover79 11-27-2010, 09:08 PM Yes about Ashley Johnson. I agree about releasing all of Betty's shows!! cocytus 11-27-2010, 09:24 PM Yes about Ashley Johnson. I think the $$$$$ for that might be even out of Betty's league!!   |
