So here's something I highly recommend: last night, I hosted an Unsolved Mysteries screening in my backyard. A group of friends came over and we watched a program of what I consider the scariest true crime episodes.

The program included:

- New Hampshire Serial Killer
- Blind River Rest Stop Murders
- Sacramento Convenient Store Murders
- Angela Hammond (phone booth abduction)
- Colleen Reed (car wash abduction)
- Matthew Chase (ATM abduction)
- The Wackers (elderly couple harassed by a "kook")
- Devin Williams (truck driver who acts strangely in a national forest)
- Barbara Jean Horn (girl found in TV box)
- "Carol" (man in black truck terrorizes drivers and shoots woman)
- Teen Murder Spree (Texas teenagers go on murder spree)
- David Hurley (man shot after minor traffic accident)
- Dick Hansen (man stalked and possibly shot over a 49ers license plate)
- Rohrey Wychgel (man shot and paralyzed in his driveway)
- Dr. Michael Swango (sadist doctor)

Watching Unsolved Mysteries outside at night is a very different experience. As for the house, I replaced all my normal light bulbs with blue or red lights and kept dark ambient music playing the entire time for when people had to come inside alone to use the bathroom.

Everyone enjoyed it, as most haven't seen the show since their childhood, and we plan on having additional screenings in the future.

That sounds like so much fun. :-) it's always fun to watch something with a group of friends.

I'm sorry. that part just seiously cracked me up. I'd probably have to ask someone to guard the bathroom door for me.

That could easily be done with an image of a woman in the mirror or a head on a table...

I would love to attend a UM party only as long as there is fruitcake being served by an elderly lady I will be there :P

Good idea, you must have some like minded friends, I don't know any friends of mine that would watch UM even inside!

Would love to get everyone on the forum here to get together to do something like that.:D

Now only for UM to release more DVDs, all the seasons would be ideal;)

Which network would have all of them together or would it be Cosgrove Meurer?

Its up to Cosgrove Meurer Productions and maybe also First Look Studios who released the previous official DVD sets. I wish they would release more DVDs or complete seasons on DVD. The only channel here that had UM was the W channel on foxtel used to show lifetime era UM but that stopped a couple years back.

Really? I've had Foxtel for three years and never knew it was on W. channel. I've looked for it but never found it.

It would be great if I had friends who didn't think UM was so geeky and would come over and have a viewing party. I try to make them watch Dennis Depue "Isn't this scary!?!???" and they just think I'm stupid.

My ex-husband never understood it. Maybe that's part of the reason he's an ex.

I did have a boyfriend who kind of got into it, though. He'd ask a lot of questions and debate with me some about different cases. His curiousity was piqued with the MacDonald case (which he'd at least heard of beforehand). Anyone in my vicinity eventually watches at least one UM segment with me.

From memory, it was showing up until around 2004 or 2005 mainly in the afternoons around 4:30. I don't think it was on Foxtel again at all after that.

Your screening party sounded pretty cool. It would be cool to attend something like that.

I had several friends backs in middle school and high school who were UM fans and we used to discuss the reruns on Lifetime all the time. One lives close by me and he hates what Spike did to the show.

You should have showed the Gilbert Ortiz segment and served chocolate shakes in sports bottles.

I wish my local friends would be down for something like that. Sounds fun and creepy.

hahaha and maybe if you wanted to push it, add some spices and tell everyone there is 'amino acids' in the shakes!

Don't forget the Michael Swango "special doughnuts" and "extra-spicy chicken"! Maybe some bologna and cheese sandwiches in honor of Permon Gilbert, too.

Just as long as no one gets served Kenneth Frank sore throat remedies.

If you really want to get into it, you could have a friend dress up as a pizza delivery guy and bring a pizza to the house, then pretend to shoot him with a cap gun right in front of your guests.
I forget the names in that segment, but I recall it being both baffling and creepy.

Dude, that's horrible!

But also really damn funny! LMAO

Oh man, now I'm horrible

I have been wanting to host an Unsolved Mysteries party for about a year, although not many of my friends would be interested -- However, I really like the way Jason K went about it, with the colored lights an all! Kudos to you, sir!!

If anyone decides to follow suit, we could play "Pin the mustache on the Farina"

I would love to host or attend a UM screening party, but no one here lives near me. I think Dynoguy and maybe Wiseguy live within driving distance. (I'm near Detroit.)

None of my friends or family is interested in UM, tho I did make hubby watch the Wheeler segment of shame and blame, which he thought was pretty hilarious.

Sorry if the pizza thing was in bad taste. I have a weird sense of humor sometimes. Just for he record, I would never really do that. Joking is one thing but actually doing it would be terrible.

A party would be fun. I think everyone on the board is spread out too far though unfortunately.
