Retro4Life 09-26-2010, 03:10 PM As far as I'm concerned, the show never really recovered from this episode (though to be honest, the show had really died without Bobby in the previous season, and I don't know how else they could have brought him back. As it was, they painted themselves into a corner. The pre-1985 Dallas was a classic show; post 1985, average at best). old grouch 09-26-2010, 10:14 PM The Shark was swimming in the shower with Bobby. catlover79 09-27-2010, 04:25 AM A day that has lived on in scripted television infamy!!!   MickeyMac 09-27-2010, 12:54 PM I think the season in which Patrick Duffy came back was their last great season. After that it started on its decline, and by the time they got to the last two seasons, the show was a shadow of what it once had been. catlover79 09-27-2010, 12:56 PM My parents watched Dallas when it was originally on (my siblings and I were just wee little things). My mom called that episode the biggest cop-out on TV of all time! Ron Ron 01-30-2011, 07:40 PM I think the season in which Patrick Duffy came back was their last great season. Dr. Thong 01-31-2011, 11:06 AM Did the producers take the easy way out? Yes. But I don't think they had much choice. What were the alternatives? Evil twin? Bobby was really alive -- the death was a fake? Bringing back Bobby was no-win situation creatively. Anything they'd done would have been scrutinized to death. I agree with that totally catlover79 06-14-2012, 04:13 AM Just too bad that Knots Landing was left holding the bag!!! kattviews 06-14-2012, 12:51 PM September 26th, 1986 - The episode of "Dallas" that had Bobby Ewing returning from the dead was aired Bobby in the shower was a cop out! Very disappointing! They could have bring Bobby back another way. kattviews 06-14-2012, 12:52 PM Just too bad that Knots Landing was left holding the bag!!! I agreed! Bobby Ewing is still dead on knots landings. Mr. Television 06-14-2012, 02:11 PM Did the producers take the easy way out? Yes. But I don't think they had much choice. What were the alternatives? I like how KL was able to keep Lisa Hartman on the show even after they killed her character. They were never scrutinized. I probably could have excepted any explanation other than a dream. Talk about being disappointed. I was so pumped up for that premiere and as soon as the show started it brought me down. 70s show watcher 06-14-2012, 07:37 PM i remember in the old tv guide cheers and jeers coullum they gave it a jeer and wrote in caps YOU MEAN WE WAITED A WHOLE SUMMER FOR THIS Mr. Television 06-14-2012, 07:43 PM i remember in the old tv guide cheers and jeers coullum they gave it a jeer and wrote in caps YOU MEAN WE WAITED A WHOLE SUMMER FOR THIS They lost half their audience. The only reason it did well that first year was because of Wes Parmalee and BD Calhoun. They actually got me excited again after that disappointing premiere. Every season after though, it just got worse and worse. I watched it until the end though. lol catlover79 06-14-2012, 09:39 PM i remember in the old tv guide cheers and jeers coullum they gave it a jeer and wrote in caps YOU MEAN WE WAITED A WHOLE SUMMER FOR THIS I think the entire nation must have been saying that. Mr. Television 06-14-2012, 09:43 PM I think the entire nation must have been saying that. I wanted to wipe that grin off of Bobby's face. catlover79 06-14-2012, 09:50 PM I wanted to wipe that grin off of Bobby's face. He was probably the only one in America smiling at that moment. Dr. Thong 06-15-2012, 09:46 PM I like how KL was able to keep Lisa Hartman on the show even after they killed her character. They just brought her back as a different character, whose initials just happened to be C.G. ;) Mr. Television 06-15-2012, 10:16 PM They just brought her back as a different character, whose initials just happened to be C.G. ;) That's true. catlover79 06-16-2012, 03:38 AM That's true. Didn't Cathy's first appearance involve Michael Sabatino impaling himself on a pitchfork? Mr. Television 06-16-2012, 08:16 AM Didn't Cathy's first appearance involve Michael Sabatino impaling himself on a pitchfork?  I remember that. Chip was hiding out and thought he saw a ghost. That wasn't her first appearance but it was close. She had been introduced an episode or two earlier. When Chip saw Cathy, he looked at her and said, "Ciji?" He was so stunned he fell back on a pitchfork. Karma. Retro4Life 06-16-2012, 11:40 AM She had been introduced an episode or two earlier. Hmm, KNOTS had a weird history of bad guys falling backwards into sharp things that killed them. A few years later, fake Sumner brother/rat Peter Hollister fall backwards onto an order holder and was killed. And Joshua fell backwards off of a roof after his mother Lillimae confronted him about his horrible actions. catlover79 06-17-2012, 02:27 AM She had been introduced an episode or two earlier. Yong Fang 06-17-2012, 04:35 AM The only thing that was good about Dallas was that hot Victoria Principal. And she is not even in the new show. Dr. Thong 06-17-2012, 03:44 PM The only thing that was good about Dallas was that hot Victoria Principal. And she is not even in the new show. She doesn't need Dallas anymore -- she's got a career in infomercials that air at 5:30 in the morning. catlover79 06-17-2012, 03:45 PM She doesn't need Dallas anymore -- she's got a career in informercials that air at 5:30 in the morning. I only see these because I'm trying to find the Weather Channel, I swear! catlover79 06-17-2012, 05:38 PM I only see these because I'm trying to find the Weather Channel, I swear! Suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuure, Chris. ;) Yong Fang 06-21-2012, 05:25 AM Well, if Victoria Principal is shucking cosmetics in infomercials that are on at 3 AM, why didn't she do this show? MickeyMac 06-22-2012, 01:10 PM ^ She is probably making a fortune off those infomericals. catlover79 06-22-2012, 10:03 PM ^ She is probably making a fortune off those infomericals. She needs it, because she went through an ultra-messy, ultra-expensive divorce a couple of years ago and at the same time was sued by a maid (though I think that was settled out of court). Yikes. |
