Very interesting indeed, because usually when a kid is brought in, it is because the series is getting old and they want to reintroduce the "cuteness" factor. In Season 3, Family Ties was still young & fresh and in its prime. It is now obvious to me that Andy wasn't a way to stave off a ratings decline or was it???

During seasons 3 & 4 twin infants played Andy. At the beginning of Season 5 they introduced Brian Bonsall who played Andy from Season 5-7.
