I get it on my TV and I love to watch it! It began last Tuesday, Sept. 7. The hostess is Lydia Dominick and she is gorgeous!!! If you don't like any of the shows, you can just watch her for the whole hour. The shows are borrowed from Buffalo's RTV channel which is one of WGRZ's digital subchannels so that arrangement works smoothly. I don't know how long this particular group will run for since there might be a different group of shows selected for later this year but so far you won't get too many complaints from me!

I think all of Southern Ontario gets WGRZ - NBC, if they have basic cable.

It's nice to watch some classic tv at lunch, but I do wonder how long it's going to last.

Over this past week, WGRZ Channel 2 in Buffalo, NY adjusted its 'Lunchtime with the Classics' lineup, dropping the science fiction hours on Wednesdays and Fridays, and adding new sitcoms as follows:

Mondays
12:00 I Love Lucy
12:30 Beverly Hillbillies 1

Tuesdays
12:00 Happy Days
12:30 Mork & Mindy

Wednesdays
12:00 Beverly Hillbillies 2 (NEW)
12:30 Cheers 1 (NEW)

Thursdays
12:00 Cheers 2
12:30 Family Ties

Fridays
12:00 Get Smart (NEW)
12:30 Love, American Style (NEW)

All of the series broadcast to date have commenced with their respective first episodes or pilots.

'Lunchtime with the Classics' is hosted by the lovely and vivacious Miss Lydia Dominick, a feature reporter for WGRZ and a local fashion model, who many local viewers will remember as the former "CW23 Girl" (the CW, NBC and RTV affiliates all share common ownership). Miss Dominick's witty and informative intros to each episode take place from a fifties-inspired luncheon diner set -- her intros to 'Star Trek' included Miss Dominick decked out in an authentic Enterprise bridge uniform. The show tries to keep topical with classic television news as Miss Dominick recently devoted a special hour-long broadcast to the late Mr. Tom Bosley of 'Happy Days'.

The schedule actually looks better now. The science-fiction stuff was holding it back. Now it's worth watching every day. And, of course, so is Lydia. This is what she looks like:

I disagree with WGRZ' assessment of Cheers and Family Ties as so-called "classics."

Why??

Hate to break it to you, but those shows are almost 30 years old now

Also, I'm excited for the new schedule - better than Star Trek for sure, though I did like the Twilight Zone (not that I get a chance to watch this often anyway because of work). Love American Style is an interesting and fun addition

Classic means old in my estimation. Just like oldies means music from up until 1969.

Did they change the lineup again? I was watching it today and at 12:30 they showed "The Twilight Zone" instead of "Love American Style", which had been on Fridays for the last few weeks and I had no idea they were going to switch. That sounds like something that could really happen in the Twilight Zone!

Yes Sal, WGR-Z adjusted the line-up yet again.

At the midpoint 'Lunchtime with the Classics' interstitial after the conclusion of 'Get Smart', host Miss Lydia Dominick stated that "we have found the err of our ways" in announcing that, due to viewer demand, the station has re-instated 'Twilight Zone' in the second half of the Friday hour, beginning this past Friday.

The new 'Lunchtime with the Classics' lineup, broadcast on WGRZ Channel 2 in Buffalo, NY, now features the following series:

Mondays
12:00 I Love Lucy
12:30 Beverly Hillbillies 1

Tuesdays
12:00 Happy Days
12:30 Mork & Mindy

Wednesdays
12:00 Beverly Hillbillies 2
12:30 Cheers 1

Thursdays
12:00 Cheers 2
12:30 Family Ties

Fridays
12:00 Get Smart
12:30 Twilight Zone (RETURN)

'Twilight Zone' resumed its run with the episode "The Big Tall Wish", and the station hasn't yet indicated whether 'Love, American Style' will find another timeslot in their schedule.

A big lump of Christmas coal from Sinclair Broadcasting with an upcoming schedule change effective Monday December 27, 2010:

12:00 pm 'Lunchtime with the Classics' (formerly one hour)
12:30 pm 'America's Court With Judge Ross' (moved from 11:30 am)

The timeslot formerly occupied by 'America's Court With Judge Ross' at 11:30 am will now be taken by a new program called 'The Healthy Zone'.

There is no information yet on which of the half-hour programs are being retained and which are being removed from the schedule. The current 'Lunchtime with the Classics' lineup features the following series:

Mondays
12:00 I Love Lucy
12:30 Beverly Hillbillies 1

Tuesdays
12:00 Happy Days
12:30 Mork & Mindy

Wednesdays
12:00 Beverly Hillbillies 2
12:30 Cheers 1

Thursdays
12:00 Cheers 2
12:30 Family Ties

Fridays
12:00 Get Smart
12:30 Twilight Zone

It looks like the Facebook feedback must have worked. Today I looked at my online TV guide on Zap2It and it shows that Lunchtime With The Classics is back to one hour starting on Monday February 7. Can anyone confirm or deny this? If it's true this is certainly good news. A half hour of classics is much too short!

The schedule that had been followed since Dec. 27 looked like this, with all shows beginning at 12:00 pm:

Mon --- Beverly Hillbillies (Season 4 in color)

Tue --- Happy Days

Wed --- Cheers

Thu --- Family Ties

Fri --- Twilight Zone

This isn't too bad but it's still much too short, and also at times confusing because at 12:30 CTS also has a half-hour of classic shows on their schedule and they also show Happy Days on Tuesdays and Family Ties on Thursdays. So hopefully now that the schedule is longer it will also be better.

The absolutely lovely and talented hostess Miss Lydia Dominick played a great April Fools joke upon her audience today, teasing that effective Monday that Buffalo's lunchtime classics program was cutting back to a half-hour (not that bloody court show again, I thought, shaking my head) and changing the line-up. She also revealed that she had been recruited to host a similar classics line-up in another market, and that today was her final day.

Later on, in a 'Twilight Zone' interstitial, she said that WGR management had short-listed three spinoff programs for inclusion in the new line-up: 'Hello, Larry' (my heart brightened), 'Joanie Loves Chachi' and 'The Ropers'. Oh no, such gems on display, I thought, and just when the witty, trivia-informed Miss Lydia Dominick is about to take flight.

Then, she came back at the end of the program, blinked her eyes, and was suddenly engarbed as Miss Barbara Eden on 'I Dream of Jeannie', only to reveal that it was all a dandy April Fool's prank, and come Monday she would still be there and it would still be an hour, only that 'I Love Lucy' was going on hiatus and 'I Dream of Jeannie' was taking over her timeslot.

So, fooled that I am, here is the new 'Lunchtime with the Classics' sked, effective Monday April 4th, 2011:

Mondays
12:00 I Dream of Jeannie (NEW)
12:30 Beverly Hillbillies 1

Tuesdays
12:00 Happy Days
12:30 Mork & Mindy

Wednesdays
12:00 Beverly Hillbillies 2
12:30 Cheers 1

Thursdays
12:00 Cheers 2
12:30 Family Ties

Fridays
12:00 Get Smart
12:30 Twilight Zone

'Lunchtime with the CLassics' has a proud tradition of starting its series off with the pilot episodes, and it is so many years ago since I first saw the 'I Dream of Jeannie' pilot "The Lady in the Bottle". I can't wait to learn the trivia that Miss Lydia has dug up on the series, and to see her once again doing her marvelous Jeannie impersonation.

^^Ha! She fooled me, and she's the only one who did. I didn't fall for anybody else's little jokes, but I never suspected that what she announced was an April fool joke. I totally believed that she was moving on and that they were going back to showing that "Judge" show in the second half hour.

I'm glad to hear it was a joke.

If Jeannie is coming starting Monday, I wonder if we'll see "Bewitched" on the schedule later in the summer. I'm also hoping that the first season will be in black and white like it originally aired. I'm not a big fan of colorized series, but I'll watch anyway.

What I enjoy most about 'Lunchtime with the Classics' is the fountain of knowledge that Miss Lydia Dominick shares for the series featured on her program. She revealed some interesting tidbits about a recent 'Twilight Zone' that I'd never seen before on Tv.com or any of the episode guide forums. She seems genuinely interested in all her programs, and has done series connected costumes or set pieces for every program except for 'Get Smart' (she needs to get a shoe-phone).

'Lunchtime with the Classics' did indeed begin with the first episode of 'I Dream of Jeannie', and broadcast a colorized version of the originally filmed in black and white first episode. According to host Miss Lydia Dominick, only the first season was filmed in black and white by a cost conscious NBC that didn't expect the series to go beyond its first season and wanted to save on the cost of colour film.

Ironically, the first season of 'I Dream of Jeannie' was the NBC 'Full Color Network's final series to be filmed in black and white.

It sounds like NBC didnt know what people wanted to see even back then.

Lunchtime with the Classics sounds like my type of block, unfortunately we dont have anything like that out here.

It is with great disappointment that I announce the news that 'Lunchtime with the Classics' has been cancelled after one year, to be replaced by a local noon-time talkshow 'The Bill O’Loughlin Show' which was tested recently on Sunday mornings as seen in the following link to stilltalkintv.com, a Buffalo tv and personalities blog.

http://stilltalkintv.com/2011/08/wbbz-shift-leads-to-channel-2-changes/

The classic television umbrella show has been cancelled due to weak ratings (1.3HH in the recent July Sweep), however some good news that 'Lunchtime with the Classics' host Miss Lydia Domminick has been hired to be a featured commentator on 'The Bill O’Loughlin Show'.

If this news wasn't bad enough, a further downer for fans of classic television is the news that WGRZ-TV has also decided to drop sub-channel 2.3 RTN in September due to competition from the new WBBZ retro channel that recently came on stream, a station that is much harder to get as it has a weaker signal. For fans of Universal Channel carried on 2.2, WGRZ-TV expects that they can expect a sharper image as a result of RTN being dropped.

The final edition of 'Lunchtime with the Classics' will air on Monday September 5th with episodes of 'I Dream of Jeannie' and 'The Beverly Hillbillies'.

A local talkshow 'The Bill O'Loughlin Show' takes over the timeslot beginning Tuesday September 6th, and 'Lunchtime' host Miss Lydia Dominick is joining the program as a contributor.

At the conclusion of 'Happy Days' and 'Mork & Mindy' on todays final Tuesday edition of 'Lunchtime with the Classics', Miss Lydia Dominick provided a witty and concise encapsulation of how each series ended, including the storylines carried over to 'Joanie Loves Chachi'.

These closing summations are likely to continue until next Monday, and I am looking forward to her summaries of 'Cheers' (no doubt including a pithy summary of 'Frasier') and 'Twilight Zone' (how does one sum up an anthology, other than to say it was brilliant to the end!).

This is a very classy viewer tribute from Miss Dominick and her production team to the many fans of the series across NW New York state and the province of Ontario.

I've watched 'The Bill O'Loughlin Show' a couple of times this week because the hour was still programmed into my DVR.

It's an odd show, essentially a filmed one hour radio talkshow (sans guests). Mr. Bill O'Loughlin sits in front of his radio mike a la Mr. Larry King, and in the best tradition of crotchetty old cranks, he uses the hour to rant on about this or espouse about that (politics, news stories, parking at Buffalo Bills games), some topics selected by him, and some in response to viewer feedback via phone, e-mail, website, Twitter, facebook.

The ever-lovely and talented Miss Lydia Dominick provides a counterpoint to Mr. O'Loughlin, a level voice of reason, and she also reads out the various viewer comments and questions that come in throughout the live hour.

This hour is a step down from the impressive line-up of sitcoms, but has more zip to it than the typical local affiliate nooner newshour.

I still don't understand why WGR-Z didn't try to carryover 'Lunchtime with the Classics' to Saturdays and Sundays to carryover their small-but-loyal audience of sitcom watchers.
