icecream 08-30-2010, 01:34 PM It's nice to see Hallmark dumping the traditional movie weekend this week for sitcoms. Now if they would just do a full day of Touched by an Angel, it hasn't aired on weekends since I got the channel.
An 80s Guy 08-30-2010, 01:38 PM I sure hope Who's The Boss? does well in its evening spot.
Jack07 08-30-2010, 03:21 PM It's too bad M*A*S*H is not on the schedule. Does Who's the Boss? really get better ratings than M*A*S*H?
Also, if Martha's ratings are not as good as the sitcoms, any chance her block will be reduced?
It's not bad, but could they not sacrifice some Golden Girls or Cheers for Lucy? That's stupid. Lucy 8-10am would have been much better or even 1-3am.
I can't believe Who's The Boss? gets decent enough ratings to air from 6-8pm. Golden Girls didn't even do well then.
Is Little House expiring? Hopefully GMC or another channel will acquire it.
Pavan 08-30-2010, 04:41 PM Little House was never expiring. See the blog, it is just resting.
Good...so that means Hallmark has full rights then, correct? No more shared deal with TV Land.
I would do this....
8:00AM-9:00AM I Love Lucy
9:00AM-10:00AM The Golden Girls
10:00AM-6:00PM Lifestyle/Martha
6:00PM-8:00PM Who's The Boss
8:00PM Touched By An Angel
9:00PM-11:00PM Movie
11:00PM-1:00AM Touched By An Angel
1:00AM-2:00AM I Love Lucy
2:00AM-4:00AM Cheers
then air Little House on weekend mornings, perhaps. There is no reason to not fit Lucy in during the week...3 hours of Cheers is too much anyway.
JulieSomoski 08-30-2010, 05:55 PM Very cool to see Who's the Boss? still on the lineup. It must be doing really well for the network to keep it on for 2 hours in the evening, even though its been on for 2 hours all summer long. I Love Lucy getting the weekend boot is no surprise, but 4 hours of Golden Girls is a bit excessive. All this Martha really sucks, in the long run, and hopefully some of these hours will be cut in the future.
Rezny@gmail.com 08-30-2010, 06:14 PM What is Whatever with Alexis and Jennifer?Or Mad Hungry with Lucinda Scala Quinn?Never heard of them.
Pavan 08-30-2010, 08:03 PM Schedule change:
Effective Tuesday, September 7, 2010
Weekdays
8:00pm Little House on the Prairie (replaces Touched by an Angel)
Also, Cheers marathon on Sept. 4 has been replaced by Little House.
Wow! That was fast. Great change! :D Glad they can air Little House at night now!
Touched will be off the line-up entirely, then.
I agree, 4 hours of The Golden Girls is too much and 3 hours of Cheers in a row is too much. There is no reason to not fit TBAA and Lucy in there somewhere, even at 3 or 4am. At least Lucy will still be airing, but it deserves more airtime.

Weekdays
8:00pm Little House on the Prairie (replaces Touched by an Angel)
Also, Cheers marathon on Sept. 4 has been replaced by Little House.Well, boo on both counts.
Jude The Obscure 08-30-2010, 11:37 PM I think it will be refreshing to see Little House in primetime. Considering that GG only has 7 seasons of shows, it cycles pretty fast with this kind of scheduling. They should at least pick up Golden Palace to give the cycle at least 22 more episodes to run in the rotation.
JulieSomoski 08-30-2010, 11:38 PM I can't believe Hallmark can't fit Touched in there somewhere. Seems like even an 11am or 1am slot would be better than nothing.
Jude The Obscure 08-30-2010, 11:56 PM Julie, remember this is Hallmark.....we can probably all agree that this schedule will see some sort of shakeup by October!
Pavan 08-31-2010, 12:05 AM Hallmark has been good in not changing much since May, but they are really trying to have the best possible schedule in and out of the Martha block, so be patient.
Jude The Obscure 08-31-2010, 12:07 AM ^Pavan.....my post was tongue in cheek.
Pavan 08-31-2010, 12:17 AM I know, I am saying it to everyone. There will be changes until they get it right (like they did in May). So they are just saying be patient. Touched will be back, I'm sure.

Good schedule and nice to hear that they're going to be patient and try some different combinations.
As the schedule is right now, I think one weakness is that I Love Lucy has been reduced to weekends only and, now, Touched by an Angel has been removed.
Strengths of the schedule include that they are still keeping Golden Girls, Who's the Boss, Cheers, and Little House weekdays and in pretty good timeslots. Martha's block isn't totally killing the channel because the shows we want to see are still on the network and in good timeslots as well.
I like the weekend marathons they've scheduled for this weekend.
Interested to see when/if Touched, MASH, and Patridge Family return.
Pavan, do you know what the reasoning was for this quick schedule change (already!) switching TBAA for Little House?
Pavan 08-31-2010, 01:52 AM I guess something in primetime needed change, as Hallmark in primetime hasn't been doing well. Maybe Little House will help.
In regards to Martha's programming, does anyone here plan to watch these shows they're adding? I've asked most of the Hallmark viewers I know and they've said no, lol. I'm definitely not.
I guess I can't complain about Lucy. It's had a good run this summer. Hopefully it will re-gain a weekday slot soon.
Jude The Obscure 08-31-2010, 07:41 PM I will probably watch the two cooking shows, esp Everyday Food, because it is actually about cooking and not "how flashy" it can be *cough FoodNetworkcough*
KJH278 09-01-2010, 09:51 PM I hope the martha stewart block fails BIG TIME
I hope the martha stewart block fails BIG TIMEAgreed. Martha seems like the love/hate type. She just isn't my cup of tea (I'd rather watch Food, Cooking, or HGTV).
However, the talk show afterwards almost seems worse. It seems out of place and too young for the Hallmark/Martha Stewart audience. Hopefully these shows are just for one season and if they don't work they won't renew them.
I'm not expecting anything massive from these shows..."Martha" has not been a huge success really as a TV series and I don't see how all of those afternoon Martha shows can work. The cooking programs seem the most watchable.
Side note: Murder She Wrote marathon Labor Day on the movie channel.
Pavan 09-08-2010, 08:30 PM Stay tuned on the blog tomorrow for an update on Hallmark! Two hours of paid programming is removed each day (so yes that means weekends will have no paid at all) and there will be a classic marathon with two sitcoms!

Two hours of paid programming is removed each day (so yes that means weekends will have no paid at all) and there will be a classic marathon with two sitcoms!Hopefully if they're getting another 2 hour block they'll keep I Love Lucy...what else is there they could air from 4-8am?
I'm guessing they'll do a marathon for The Golden Girls' 25th anniversary and a marathon with WTB? or Lucy.

I hope WTB? is one of the sitcoms that they are going to run a a marathon of.
I watched the marathon during Labor day weekend and it really is such a great show. I hope it continues to do well on Hallmark and they finally get around to releasing the rest of the seasons on DVD.
retrofan05 09-08-2010, 10:16 PM I hope WTB? is one of the sitcoms that they are going to run a a marathon of.

I really enjoyed the marathon too. Honestly I think the last time I saw it was when it aired on Nick at Nite. I don't know how many years that's been, but quite a few.
Pavan 09-08-2010, 11:00 PM Hint: The classic marathon will be for two sitcoms they don't regularly air.
Partridge Family and M*A*S*H.
Pavan 09-09-2010, 01:06 AM Nope. Now intrigued?
Wow, this is strange then. I don't know of any other sitcoms they have that aren't airing regularly.
Maybe they do have some kind of deal with Sony like we were wondering about?
Pavan 09-09-2010, 12:07 PM 4-6am is now added everyday and we also have a 24-hour Little House marathon on Oct. 2 and two classic sitcom marathons on Halloween:
http://blog.sitcomsonline.com/2010/09/hallmark-channel-october-2010-schedule.html
I think they have shown The Addams Family at Halloween before.
Do we really need more WTB? They have other shows that don't get airtime that could air then instead.
Pavan 09-09-2010, 02:23 PM When did Hallmark air Addams? I don't recall it. They are just encoring Who's the Boss weeknights in late night (only weekends will be new plays). Doesn't count twice since it is within 24 hours. They are maxing plays, which makes sense since the show does very well.
7 years ago, lol. Halloween 2003.
Pavan 09-09-2010, 05:13 PM I checked, you're right. Usually I can remember things like that but forgot about that. They never aired Munsters at least, lol. WGN also aired a marathon in 2003 for Addams, along with broadcast locals like WPIX. Those I remember vividly. I think WGN America is working on a marathon for these two sitcoms once again this year. Hopefully one of these networks airs both as a regular.
Rezny@gmail.com 09-09-2010, 06:18 PM Remember when last Halloween weekend,WGN America DID carry marathons of "The Munsters"AND "The Addams Family"?I also agree that it would be great if either Hallmark or WGN America gives them slots on their schedule. It COULD happen.
SpenceOlchin 09-09-2010, 06:29 PM Awesome news about The Munsters and The Addams Family. I would love for Hallmark to pick them up.
Rezny@gmail.com 09-09-2010, 06:36 PM Maybe,if they are picked up by Hallmark, maybe Hallmark will add even MORE classic 1960's comedies, like "Bewitched","I Dream of Jeannie","Green Acres","My Three Sons",etc.Only time will tell.
MikeLutton 09-09-2010, 06:46 PM green acers is on world harvest network
JulieSomoski 09-09-2010, 10:07 PM Who would have thought Who's the Boss? would do so well on Hallmark? I guess it did decent on ION when it first aired, but it grew old pretty fast it seemed like. It bombed on Nick at Nite. But Hallmark actually seems like the perfect for it. I'm glad. We need more great 80s sitcoms like this back on TV and doing well.
I agree, Julie....I'm enjoying it on Hallmark much more than ION. The only time I really saw the series on Nick at Nite was by the time it was on at 5am or something. I was always surprised they never tried it on TV Land.
Re: The Addams Family...the only reason I remembered that was because of thinking it was strange on Hallmark back then  they didn't show any sitcoms, it was mostly stuff like Matlock, Perry Mason, Little House, Touched By An Angel, Dr. Quinn, Diagnosis Murder, Walker Texas Ranger, etc. Was kind of strange for them to do anything like that in 2003.
Tubehead 09-12-2010, 02:37 AM i'm glad their airingthe munser for halloween i hope they add it to their Schedule
i think these show would do well for hallmark:

Pavan 09-12-2010, 12:05 PM Confirmed that both Munsters/Addams Family are only for Halloween. Hopefully they do well and they consider buying them as regulars.
Jude The Obscure 09-15-2010, 03:28 PM So far, Martha's a bust.....
http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/content_display/news/e3icb71760d866948d8302102c17a6dca75
Rezny@gmail.com 09-15-2010, 05:01 PM I read the article. It was very interesting. It tells you that people like classic TV better(sometimes)from yesteryear(1950's-1960's-and so on),then if Martha and company continues to bomb (not do so well, ratings wise),hopefully The Hallmark Channel will go back to the way it was.
DUH!!!! LOL! Hallmark's getting just what they deserve. This didn't take a rocket scientist to predict. I can't find a single viewer that was excited about this, Hallmark isn't watched by anyone in my home anymore. Martha Stewart and the "Home" block does not fit.
Seriously, Martha's show has never done very well but this is not good. 'Whatever' is so annoying just to see advertised. I bet some of the afternoon stuff will be pulled soon because they are not bound to it.
Hallmark...what a mess you've gotten in to.
Schedule change for Hallmark Channel Home:
11:00AM Mad Hungry
11:30AM Everyday Food
12:00PM Whatever with Alexis and Jennifer
1:00PM From Martha's Home
1:30PM From Martha's Garden
2:00PM From Martha's Kitchen
2:30PM Mad Hungry
3:00PM Whatever with Alexis and Jennifer encore
rest stays the same.
This is great news to hear Hallmark is taking 3PM-6PM back, it was just a matter of time. I suspect 1PM-3PM will be next. Why encore something that isn't doing well, twice? (here's the blog post: http://blog.sitcomsonline.com/2010/09/cbs-fall-pilot-review-my-dad-says.html) I agree, we need Lucy back!
I wonder how "Whatever" is doing. I think it debuted to 100k. That show is unbearable to watch and it seems too young for Hallmark. Worse fit than Martha.
Jude The Obscure 09-22-2010, 06:49 PM When I saw that times were already being switched.....I laughed. I think Martha should strictly be a morning block. MSS, Mad, Everday, and then Whatever (that show has no appeal IMO). The encores of Martha twice are really redundant. I know Hallmark has lost a lot of its audience--my mother is one. She can't stand Martha at all.
retrofan05 09-22-2010, 07:05 PM Hopefully if this totally fails, they'll bring back more classics. One show that I think would fit really well on Hallmark with shows such as Who's The Boss? and The Golden Girls is The Facts of Life. It hasn't aired in syndication in quite some time.
Rezny@gmail.com 09-22-2010, 08:09 PM Or else "Empty Nest".THE "Empty Nest" series that ran from 1987-1995 on NBC,and was a spinoff of "The Golden Girls"and it could be a good fit with the Girls,if The Hallmark Channel could get the rights, and air it after "The Golden Girls".It would sure beat Martha's stuff.
Rezny@gmail.com 09-22-2010, 08:38 PM My mistake:"Empty Nest"ran from 1988(not 1987 like I said)to 1995.Also ,a show that would be a good fit if The Hallmark Channel was to air ALL the episodes of "My Three Sons"(both black and white and color),in place of that "Whatever"show. At least The Hallmark Channel would have something at least halfway decent to watch during the mid-morning hours.
When I saw that times were already being switched.....I laughed. I think Martha should strictly be a morning block. MSS, Mad, Everday, and then Whatever (that show has no appeal IMO). The encores of Martha twice are really redundant. I know Hallmark has lost a lot of its audience--my mother is one. She can't stand Martha at all.Everyone I know that watched Hallmark has quit watching and is entirely turned off by Martha. The changes they made this week must have really been bad for them to change again so quickly. I'm not surprised at all, though. None of this stuff is any good except for the Mad Hungry show, which I don't find too interesting but it's alright.
If I were them, I would do this (if they could move the Martha programming back):
8:00AM The Golden Girls 2X
9:00AM Everyday Food
9:30AM Mad Hungry
10:00AM Martha Stewart Show
11:00AM Whatever w/ Alexis & Jennifer
12:00PM I Love Lucy 4X
2:00PM Little House on the Prairie 2X
4:00PM M*A*S*H 4X
6:00PM Who's the Boss? 4X
8:00PM Little House on the Prairie
9:00PM Movie
11:00PM The Golden Girls 4X
1:00AM Cheers 4X
3:00AM Who's The Boss 4X (or I Love Lucy?)
5:00AM Touched By An Angel
retrofan05, they showed FOL in 2002 and it was one of their itchy trigger finger shows. It barely aired before it was pulled to never be seen again.
Rezny@gmail.com 09-22-2010, 10:53 PM They should jettison (get rid of)Martha and company, except for Everyday Food, and maybe Mad Hungry,or put her and her brood in the wee hours of the morning when there is nothing on but paid programming and informercials. She would perish for sure if Hallmark did that. But unfortunately, the Hallmark Channel programmers have the final say in the matter -we viewers do not.
retrofan05 09-22-2010, 10:59 PM retrofan05, they showed FOL in 2002 and it was one of their itchy trigger finger shows. It barely aired before it was pulled to never be seen again.
That's too bad. I feel like now that they have The Golden Girls though, it would fit really well. The two shows are similar in many ways, with the biggest difference being the age of the characters. I think if these shows were aired together, they might get a pretty good audience.
Jude The Obscure 09-23-2010, 08:29 PM Les we all forget, Martha Stewart has a contract with Hallmark. They are not going to break it. the flagship show will not be going anywhere for at least a year--Hallmark will keep reworking the schedule until they get the mix right. I myself, do enjoy Everyday Food (these are simply the PBS episodes re-edited for reruns). But I do think they realize that all day block was a huge mistake.

I guess Everyday Food is just a syndication deal like the rest of the shows they have if it's a rerun.
Also, I wonder if they could move the block down to 9am-12pm? The programming just doesn't seem like it fits after 12pm. Keep Martha at 10AM.

However, if the ratings get worse/don't improve when it's time to renew or whatever, I'd be a little apprehensive if I were her. She has always had lackluster ratings so she is going to have that issue regardless.
I agree, Whatever is laughable, what a joke of a show. It seems so out of place!
Pavan 09-24-2010, 01:52 AM The Sept. 27 changes are not happening now. Martha block remains at is now (10am-6pm). Not sure what is going on. So, no Little House from 3-6pm starting Monday.

Or maybe the ratings magically increased?...nah..
Rezny@gmail.com 09-24-2010, 09:17 PM Today,I saw bits of that show Whatever, just out of curiosity, and except for them having the guy who created the "jump the shark"website, which was kinda interesting, the show today was rather dull.Surely Hallmark can come up with something better than this.I don't give it too long a life.

i have no idea, but Everyday Food is being treated like it is an original for Hallmark with the promos and ads in magazines. And with Pav's news today, I can guess, Martha herself probably called in to the execs and told them, you can't be pulling my shows on and off willy nilly. In a way, she is correct that if you don't allow people to sample and find you, how can you expect any ratings growth? I'm not defending the Martha block, but I do sense the business reasons why this move (if Martha herself did contact the execs) was done.

One of my first reactions to this programming shift was that Hallmark can't stay committed to something that doesn't work long enough to do this. Martha should have stayed on broadcast TV. Hopefully they can work something out, I would hate to have all of those shows on for 8 hours, that is insane. I can see why her numbers are bad....her show is just terribly boring to watch.
No Lucy tonight? I see they're airing Whatever episodes from 1-4am, and they did last night also but I think they showed a little Lucy. Why, Hallmark, why?
And it looks like a Little House marathon is planned for Saturday.
Rezny@gmail.com 09-26-2010, 09:19 PM No Lucy tonight? I see they're airing Whatever episodes from 1-4am, and they did last night also but I think they showed a little Lucy. Why, Hallmark, why?
And it looks like a Little House marathon is planned for Saturday. You wanna know WHY?The Hallmark Channel wants to attract a younger audience than they have now.If Martha and company fails, and they don't go back to the way it was(and I sincerely hope they do),then what's next?
Rezny@gmail.com 09-26-2010, 09:32 PM And I forgot to add:The Hallmark Channel is NOW airing "The Martha Stewart Show",(the hourlong show,not her others),not once,not twice,but THREE times a day.That's going a bit overboard,wouldn't you say?
Jude The Obscure 09-26-2010, 10:42 PM ^That was already on the schedule like that when it started on the 13th. I don't see the need for two encores (and is it the same episode as of the morning?), when they could use the time for Lucy, Partridge Family, etc.

The 5PM airing is an encore of that morning's episode. The 4PM airing is the previous day's episode (that had aired at 10AM and 5PM just one day prior). Stupid.
Jude The Obscure 09-27-2010, 11:03 PM ^Totally stupid......at least air old episodes of Martha Stewart Living or earlier seasons of MSS.
CommonTater 09-28-2010, 08:49 AM Martha's just not my cup of tea. I have been crafting, cleaning house, gardening and cooking my entire life. I'm willing to bet I could show the old girl a thing or two.
When she took over we removed Hallmark from our channel guide. The Hub has filled me with renewed hope for a great network! :D

:D YAY! Let's just hope they follow through.
I must say, I'm surprised Everyday Food is gone. I guess they had a little more pull with that one considering they're not new episodes.
The two Martha episodes in the afternoon are still too much, though...like I said the 4PM episode is an encore of the previous day's 10AM and 5PM episode.
Pavan 09-28-2010, 03:01 PM I'm sure Martha wants the encores and doesn't want time changes. Lucy has only done well in the late morning/early afternoons on Hallmark. It did bad weeknights in late night, so that is why it isn't on there.

I'm glad Lucy at least does well at some time for them, it seemed like such a failure for the first year or so they had it.
I can't complain, as now everything is airing during the week that was airing pre-Martha. The 4pm encore is still a little strange, but whatever, I don't watch TV then usually so I don't care.
Jude The Obscure 09-29-2010, 09:47 PM Glad to see Lucy back! But disappointed that Everyday Food got shafted--it was the only one I enjoyed watching.
Pavan 10-01-2010, 02:04 PM The on-going soap opera of changes on Hallmark daytime:
http://blog.sitcomsonline.com/2010/10/to-lucy-or-not-to-lucy-is-question-on.html
icecream 10-01-2010, 02:15 PM This is pathetic. Hallmark finally had a stable schedule but now they're reverting back to last year's pattern.
sijamo 10-01-2010, 03:06 PM The link below might give some insight to all the changes and re-arranging of schedules at Hallmark. Martha's not doing too well. Interesting is the first commenter after this article...
http://www.tvweek.com/blogs/tvbizwire/2010/10/three-weeks-into-season-martha.php
If Martha and Hallmark want those encores, they are insane. Why do we want to see the show at 10AM, the previous day's episode at 1PM, then the 10AM episode again at 2PM?
Why can't they keep Lucy  4 Little House episodes are too much!
The article the above poster linked is worth reading as well as the comment under it. Look at this quote from "Hallmark Insider"- this stuff isn't going anywhere.
We agreed to clauses that stated that if Martha's programming hit a minimum
delivery that the shows would automatically be renewed. The threshold was
set so low that the MSLO shows have already crossed them and the shows have been
automatically renewed.
Now it's just a matter of when they'll air.
Jude The Obscure 10-01-2010, 11:56 PM That entire comment thread at TV Week is very enlightening.....including comments from "keen observer".
In any case...Hallmark seems to be in deep doo doo with these constant schedule switcheroos.

In any case...Hallmark seems to be in deep doo doo with these constant schedule switcheroos.Yeah, I agree.
I wonder what it'll look like by the end of the week? Mid week even?
I think the main scheduling problem they have now are the 2 Martha encores. I wonder when the "emergency meeting" is/was?
Pavan 10-08-2010, 01:55 PM Special primetime encores of Martha Home all next week:
http://blog.sitcomsonline.com/2010/10/abc-family-hallmark-lifetime-changes.html
Read that also for holiday movie news starting Nov. 13. They will air holiday movies and Martha Home basically all day until Christmas.
So they're going to just encore the stuff that is destroying their daytime ratings in primetime for a week....
Nice way to rearrange the deck chairs on the Titanic. Good riddance to them I say.
Jude The Obscure 10-08-2010, 10:38 PM *here comes the wrecking ball*
CommonTater 10-09-2010, 08:04 AM I think at this point it's too late for Hallmark. If you go by the ratings there just isn't enough people who want to watch MS and it's aired far too much. Maybe in her 5 year contract they have to air it a certain amount of time? Changing the schedule every other day hasn't helped matters either.
It really was a nice network once upon a time.
Nothing new, really, but NY Post article on the Martha change:
http://www.nypost.com/p/entertainment/tv/martha_stewart_hallmark_channel_Cx5MYFZMwTcR2Txeo3QB9M?CMP=OTC-rss&FEEDNAME=
I read an interesting comment somewhere that they got Martha & co. in order to stay on cable systems as they were at risk of being dropped by some providers for some reason.
I wish I Love Lucy would go back to TV Land since it apparently doesn't have a place on Hallmark's schedule, if it only does well late mornings and early afternoons. The weekend airings are OK, but not very convienent :(
retrofan05 10-12-2010, 06:01 PM I highly doubt TV Land will pick up back up, but if they did it would go really well with Bewitched and I Dream of Jeannie in the morning.
Hallmark Channel will be removing Paid Programming effective this Saturday, November 13th. An extra Christmas movie will air from 6-8am.
Pavan 11-08-2010, 11:18 AM Yes, and also holiday movies are airing from Nov. 13-Dec. 31 all day except Martha block 10am-3pm and Little House at 3.

http://blog.sitcomsonline.com/2010/11/running-wilde-whatever-with-alexis.html
In response to that... WOW. I knew 'Whatever' wasn't doing well, but to see it pulled is a shock. I was sure it would at least run in to the spring. The show is terrible, though. Alexis is Martha's daughter.
From Martha's Kitchen? That show has flopped each time they've tried to bring it back. I'm surprised they didn't try Everyday Food again.
Seems like they're trying as hard as they can to make the block work, they've already re-arranged things before with no luck apparently... I don't think they can make it work.
Rezny@gmail.com 11-13-2010, 01:10 AM And what I don't get,is that the whole 10-3 Martha block has NOT done well in the ratings, yet they just ax "Whatever",instead of the whole Martha block.Or can they do that?I guess Martha has a hold on Hallmark. Not a hold, but an iron grip.
Rezny@gmail.com 11-13-2010, 01:19 AM And I'll bet that Martha Stewart AND her daughter Alexis do NOT like the idea of The Hallmark Channel axing "Whatever".But,who cares?I sure don't.
Jude The Obscure 11-13-2010, 01:32 AM And I'll bet that Martha Stewart AND her daughter Alexis do NOT like the idea of The Hallmark Channel axing "Whatever".But,who cares?I sure don't.
They should try Everyday Food once more instead of trying to resurrect From Martha's Kitchen for the third time. So much Martha gives viewers the impression Hallmark is The Martha Stewart Channel.
And yes, this basically boils down to a contract Hallmark has with MS Omnimedia. Don't know how further it lasts beyond a year but I bet Hallmark won't be renewing the deal.
I don't understand how 'Whatever' was being produced - were new episodes still being recorded daily? Has it been "cancelled?" Was this MSLO or Hallmark's call?
They are just having to fill time I guess, agree that Everyday Food would be a better replacement. I wonder how Mad Hungry is doing. I don't see From Martha's Kitchen lasting any longer than it has the past two times....the block should be 3 hours max now.
Pavan 11-18-2010, 10:56 AM Whatever returns in January in a second Martha block airing Saturdays at 11pm:

The first quarter 2011 schedule will also feature new episodes of Martha Stewart-produced programs "The Martha Stewart Show" and "Mad Hungry with Lucinda Scala Quinn" (airing weekdays 10 a.m.-11 a.m. ET/PT, 9C and 11:00 a.m.-12 p.m. ET/PT, respectively). The announcements were made today by Bill Abbott, President and CEO, Hallmark Channels, and Charles Koppelman; Executive Chairman, Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia. The new Hallmark Channel Original Series joining the lineup this January include:
'MARTHA BAKES'
This January (launch dates tbd) marks the highly anticipated launch of Martha Stewart's first-ever baking series. "Martha Bakes" is sure to be the definitive resource for the actual or would-be baking expert. It is comprised of 13 episodes that fulfill Martha's Stewart's long-time dream of creating a valuable and visual teaching course that features the best of the best in home baking. Based on her many years of experimenting, teaching and research, this Baking 101 destination delivers a thoughtfully edited collection of Martha's personal favorites, from savories to sweets, and demystifies everything from how to make the perfect cheesecake without a crack to how to create the ultimate devil's food cake. What distinguishes the series is that each installment, covering themes from pound cake to pate brisee, will begin with a recipe's basic foundation and will explore how the addition of certain ingredients or the use of a new technique will result in not one, but multiple dishes in each half-hour.
'MAD HUNGRY WITH LUCINDA SCALA QUINN'
Hallmark Channel has picked up "Mad Hungry With Lucinda Scala Quinn" for an additional 80 episodes, which will begin production in January.
'MARTHA STEWART PRESENTS: THE MEN WHO MAKE US LAUGH'
In January, Martha Stewart showcases her keen and frequently self-deprecating sense of humor in the premiere of "Martha Stewart Presents: The Men Who Make Us Laugh." In this hour-long primetime special, Martha meets up with three famous comedic craftsmen and engages in lively and candid conversation, discussing her guests' inspirations, work lives and how they balance their very busy profession with personal pursuits. During the course of these revealing and entertaining interviews, Martha gets to the heart of three comedians for a terrific, laugh-filled hour of primetime viewing.
'PETKEEPING WITH MARC MORRONE'
This is a new series where people seek advice and practical information from Martha's favorite petkeeper, Marc Morrone, and leading experts from all areas of the animal world. From learning how to keep your family safe and happy when pets and kids live under the same roof to revealing the most common misconceptions and myths about our animal friends, each half-hour features a specific theme. Marc is joined by top veterinarians and animal behaviorists to explore every possible topic about the world of pets. First, the characters bring their pets to Marc's establishment, Parrots of the World in Rockville Center, New York. Marc is there to offer advice to visiting dogs, cats, parrots, gerbils, turtles, spiders...you name it...and their human counterparts. Then the viewer is taken into a more studio-like setting where Marc's trademark menagerie of animals interact with him, his experts and each other. Here, viewers learn valuable information and skills needed for responsible and enjoyable petkeeping through detailed dialogue and demonstrations. This fun, energetic, family-friendly show is a must see for all animal lovers.
'WHATEVER WITH ALEXIS & JENNIFER' AND 'WHATEVER MARTHA' LIVEN UP LATE NIGHT
Also in Q1 (premiere date/time TBD), Hallmark Channel's topical talk show, "Whatever With Alexis & Jennifer," will air on Saturday nights at 11 p.m. ET/PT, 10C. During each episode, Alexis Stewart and Jennifer Koppelman Hutt offer their insights into the daily headlines and explore how viewers are dealing with everyday issues. Filmed in New York in front of a live studio audience, the show features a variety of in-studio guests, from headline makers to celebrities to people who just have something to say.
Then, at 12 AM ET/11 PM C, Hallmark Channel is the new and exclusive home to 26 original episodes of the critically acclaimed series, "Whatever, Martha!" Now in its third season, this wickedly funny half-hour, which Entertainment Weekly called "juicier than any steak the domestic diva ever cooked up", features the Sirius radio hosts in their element: providing their personal take on vintage episodes of the Martha Stewart Living TV show. The unscripted format provides a platform for the co-hosts to showcase their colorful, witty and sometimes shocking opinions about Martha's performance, appearance and approach to projects. The MSLO-produced series, which was created by Martha Stewart after watching old episodes of "Mystery Science Theatre," was a critical hit at launch, receiving raves from publications across the country including TV Guide, The New York Times, and New York magazine among others.
I wonder if they are just burning off the remaining Whatever episodes on Saturday nights?
I guess the pet show will air in the 12-1 hour where From Martha's Kitchen airs now...I don't see how any of this will do any better.
Rezny@gmail.com 11-18-2010, 07:24 PM Does Hallmark REALLY NEED more Martha programming? My answer is NO.I guess that spells the end of classic TV(The Golden Girls,Who's The Boss, and all the others from the 1960's,1970's,1980's)on Hallmark. But I sure hope not.
Pavan 11-18-2010, 08:43 PM No, that doesn't spell the end of them, as I keep saying. They will return in January, because holiday movies are airing right now.
Rezny@gmail.com 11-18-2010, 09:38 PM Well,that's good.
No, that doesn't spell the end of them, as I keep saying. They will return in January, because holiday movies are airing right now. Will they be releasing January/winter highlights since they are adding some additional programming?
I'm expecting the previous schedule to come back, but 6-8AM would be interesting to see as that had previously been paid programming.
Pavan 12-06-2010, 12:01 PM Coming up in an hour on the blog...sitcom news for Hallmark Channel January.
Pavan 12-06-2010, 01:09 PM http://blog.sitcomsonline.com/2010/12/sitcoms-return-on-hallmark-channel.html
Nice to see the sitcoms return and I Love Lucy airing daily. Hallmark has been doing well in primetime lately with the Christmas movies/programming...I believe they were 3rd or 4th total viewers the other week.
I find myself lately watching Hallmark to see the movies they have with classic TV stars in them. Florence Henderson, Doris Roberts, Valerie Bertinelli, Henry Winkler, Ed Asner, Melissa Gilbert, Rue McLanahan are just some of them I've seen recently.

Also, a Golden Girls marathon on 1/17 from 3PM-6AM.
TV Knowledge Fan 01-03-2011, 12:50 AM ...if Discovery Networks had teamed up with Martha to create a "Martha Stewart Network", instead of Oprah???
The results would be the same as what's happening to the Hallmark Channel right now.
24 hour I Love Lucy marathon from 6AM Saturday-6AM Sunday.
MikeLutton 01-24-2011, 12:19 AM sounds good i want more classic tv on here hope hallmark does not screw this up
