bliggenstrauff 07-12-2010, 12:11 PM Looks like Tvland's finally improving.
retrofan05 07-12-2010, 01:33 PM I do like the schedule, however I was hoping TV Land would bring back some classics that have been gone for a while and air them in the morning/afternoon (i.e. The Beverly Hillbillies and Leave it to Beaver). Even airing Bewitched in the morning in addition to 5 PM would have been nice.
benjamoon 07-12-2010, 04:21 PM Is "The Nanny" continuing on Nick at Nite?

well ok then, forgive me for asking...
DSfan 07-12-2010, 11:40 PM well ok then, forgive me for asking...
Although I don't like The Nanny, I think it is a good fit in their schedule and also in that timeslot. The only real "consequence" of its arrival is All in the Family getting fewer airings which isn't such a big deal.
I still don't like the treatment Home Improvement is getting. Can't they put it on The-N (oh, Teenick, I mean)? Because it's no longer on N@N and only at like 3AM on TV Land so it's pretty useless right now.
Until recently, I had totally forgotten that My Wife & Kids was coming to N@N (yuckkk). Hopefully it's leaving ABC Family, but I don't think that was the case.
Anyways, seems like Family Matters will be getting the boot come fall, doesn't it? Unless Nanny leaves, then maybe they could still have some room for it.
Any word on what's going on with That 70s Show and Friends with respect to these two channels?
TVFactFan 07-13-2010, 12:08 AM Not happy with........
Three's Company being pushed back
Cosby Show airing at 2am instead of 1am
retrofan05 07-13-2010, 11:42 AM I doubt Family Matters will be leaving Nick at Nite completely. I'm sure it will at least air in late night. I'd rather see Malcolm get the boot at 11 and have My Wife and Kids air at 11 and 2. That way Family Matters could still air at 8, which I think is a great transition between Nick and Nick at Nite. On a side note, I'm kind of surprised Family Matters hasn't started airing on TeenNick. It seems like it would be the perfect fit.
ultimateggfan 07-13-2010, 12:30 PM I agree that TV Land is slowly starting to improve. IMO, the channel began to decline with the arrival of PRIME, constant movies, and the annoying off-the-clock programming (BTW, does anyone know why TV Land does this and when/if it will end?). Oh, and don't get me started on the added commercial breaks and the fact they are further reducing the run times of their shows; they used to cut shows down to 22 minutes, now they're barely 21. What gives? I clocked an episode of Bewitched at 20:35, and the master run time for that episode was almost 25:30. I know TV Land cuts down shows for syndication, but they might as well air minisodes.
I think TV Land needs to renew their licenses for some shows they used to air, like Maude, I Dream of Jeannie, The Donna Reed Show, and even acquire shows like Mama's Family, Mary Tyler Moore, or even Too Close for Comfort.
Just my two cents.
I too find it irritating that Home Improvement doesn't get much exposure. How about airing it 7-8pm (leading in to The Nanny) and push what's airing from 5-8pm back an hour to 4-7 (removing the 3rd Andy Griffith hour)? I really, really think it would fit better now with the other 90s sitcoms.
I don't think Home Improvement would be that great on The N/Teennick...it's probably difficult for a lot of their audience to relate to.
I think Friends will come directly to TV Land.
SpenceOlchin 07-13-2010, 01:22 PM Yeah, Home Improvement is definitely getting the shaft from TV Land. It must've not done too well for them to relegate it to 2:30-3:30 in the morning. I know that it runs on TBS, but they only run it from 11:30am-12:30pm. The show is certainly more family friendly than a lot of what is on the networks today.
Pavan 07-13-2010, 01:32 PM I don't think Home Improvement can air in earlier hours on TV Land because of TBS. They probably can't air before 7 or 8pm on weekdays.
tvparadise 07-13-2010, 02:00 PM I still think they should have put Home Improvement at 11pm, leading out of Raymond. Didn't HI do better on N@N at 12am than 9pm generally?
retrofan05 07-13-2010, 02:01 PM I too find it irritating that Home Improvement doesn't get much exposure. How about airing it 7-8pm (leading in to The Nanny) and push what's airing from 5-8pm back an hour to 4-7 (removing the 3rd Andy Griffith hour). .
That would be a good idea. Losing 2 out of 6 episodes of Andy Griffith certainly wouldn't be a loss. I wonder why they didn't just push Bewitched back an hour as well so they could continue to air All in the Family in the evening?
Actually, this is the longest I think AitF has lasted in the evenings. It usually has only done well in the morning. If I were them, I would do this:
8-9:00AM All in the Family
9-10:00AM Leave it to Beaver
10-11:00AM Hogan's Heroes
11-12:00PM The Beverly Hillbillies
12:00PM Gunsmoke
1-3:00PM Bonanza
3-5:00PM The Andy Griffith Show
5-6:00PM Bewitched
6-7:00PM Sanford and Son
7-8:00PM The Cosby Show
8-9:00PM The Nanny
9-11:00PM Everybody Loves Raymond
11-12:00AM Roseanne
12-1:00AM Home Improvement
1-2:00AM The Nanny
2-3:00AM Roseanne
3-4:00AM The Cosby Show
4-5:00AM Three's Company
5-6:00AM M*A*S*H
Almost everything gets a daily airing...mornings and late nights need the most help. A schedule like the above would remedy that. If HI can't air at 7 or so, midnight is the next best I guess. Cosby Show, the only 80s sitcom, is a good transition between the newer and older shows.
SpenceOlchin 07-13-2010, 11:35 PM ^^^
I really like that schedule.
Pavan 07-15-2010, 07:52 PM Joe Jonas will be on the August 11 episode of Hot in Cleveland:
JOE JONAS, ONE THIRD OF THE GRAMMY(R) NOMINATED JONAS BROTHERS, SET TO APPEAR IN TV LAND'S HIT SERIES, "HOT IN CLEVELAND"
Jonas To Play Valerie Bertinelli's Son
Los Angeles, CA - July 15, 2010 -- Joe Jonas, one third of the chart topping, Grammy(R) nominated music artists, the Jonas Brothers, and co-star of Disney Channel's Original series, "Jonas L.A." and the upcoming Disney Channel Original Movie, "Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam", is set to appear as Valerie Bertinelli's son, Will, in an upcoming episode of the successful TV Land series, "Hot in Cleveland." In the episode, Will Moretti (Jonas) comes to Cleveland to visit his recently transplanted mother, Melanie (Bertinelli). Jonas will appear in the August 11 episode that will be taped in front of a live studio audience on July 17.
"Hot in Cleveland" which airs at 10 p.m. ET/PT on Wednesdays stars sitcom favorites Valerie Bertinelli, Jane Leeves, Wendie Malick and 16-time Emmy(R)-nominee Betty White. The show, which has garnered great critical acclaim and record-breaking ratings, was picked up on July 7 for a second season of 20 episodes. The second season will begin production in October 2010 and is expected to premiere in January 2011 on TV Land.
"Hot in Cleveland" revolves around three fabulous best friends from LA - novelist Melanie Moretti (Valerie Bertinelli), eye-brow archer to the stars Joy Scroggs (Jane Leeves) and former soap star Victoria Chase (Wendie Malick) - who find their lives changed forever when their plane, headed for Paris, makes an unexpected landing. When the friends discover that they are hot in Cleveland, they decide to stay. Starting over, they rent a house that happens to come with a very feisty caretaker (Betty White).
Filmed in front of a live studio audience, "Hot in Cleveland" is executive produced by Emmy(R) Award-winner Sean Hayes and Todd Milliner of Hazy Mills Productions and is helmed by Emmy(R) Award-winning Suzanne Martin ("Frasier," "Ellen") serving as executive producer, show runner and writer. Lynda Obst also serves as executive producer.

Really? How bad could the ratings have been to warrant removing it completely? Oh, well. I have all of the seasons on DVD and they aren't chopped up into nothing like the ones that air on TV Land.
JulieSomoski 07-16-2010, 06:02 PM Obviously it was doing pretty badly. Bonanza does really well, while Andy Griffith still continues to pull in a large number of viewers for the network (interesting tidbit - an episode of Andy Griffith was the third highest rated airing on TV Land last week, right behind Hot in Cleveland, new and rerun.)
retrofan05 07-16-2010, 06:07 PM I like Andy Griffith, but I've always wondered why it has such a large appeal over other classic sitcoms. Why has it aged so much better than other sitcoms from around the same era?
Pavan 07-16-2010, 07:53 PM Julie, it wasn't doing badly...or it would have been pulled NOW. This is still about a month away. View the blog story on Monday for details.
Why do we need THREE hours of Andy Griffith? I am amazed that so many people are still watching it this much. I only watch it now on a local channel a few times a week (TV Land skipped and repeated too much for me).
I don't like their new strategy. Seems like if something doesn't do as well as their "pet" shows, they just throw it away (Hogan's Heroes, Beverly Hillbillies, Beaver, now Bewitched) and forget about it. They used to at least air them in the morning or do weekend marathons. If Bewitched isn't doing badly, why not give it a morning slot? Terrible.
benjamoon 07-16-2010, 11:46 PM Bahhhhhhh TV Land, come on!
Pavan 07-19-2010, 12:54 PM Bewitched situaton update: http://blog.sitcomsonline.com/2010/07/tv-land-pulls-bewitched-in-august-ion.html
Bewitched situaton update: http://blog.sitcomsonline.com/2010/07/tv-land-pulls-bewitched-in-august-ion.html
Still makes no sense. If it is doing well enough to continue in the afternoon for now, there is no excuse to not move it to mornings next month instead of eliminating it entirely. Apparently it's all-or-nothing with them now.
Pavan 07-19-2010, 02:38 PM Perhaps it is an airplay issue, since they are just resting it.
Pavan 07-20-2010, 01:14 PM This is not TV Land related, but a former TV Land show is airing on Comedy Central for a limited time only:
http://blog.sitcomsonline.com/2010/07/no-joke-baywatch-on-comedy-central-in.html
retrofan05 07-20-2010, 07:56 PM So, according to "TV Land Admin" Bewitched will not be taken off of TV Land? Confusing....
I just don't know what to think. How could it be airplays when they haven't even shown it for 6 months? I could see airplay issues with something like Bonanza or Andy Griffith, both of which have aired for a long time.
It's too bad they won't replace it with another 60s sitcom if it indeed goes on hiatus. Such a shame, all 3 just sitting there with no hope in sight.
benjamoon 07-21-2010, 12:20 PM So, according to "TV Land Admin" Bewitched will not be taken off of TV Land? Confusing....
yeah I saw that too... it's also listed on their weekly schedules through the end of August...
Pavan 07-21-2010, 01:22 PM Their weekly schedules are not updated. It says last updated 6/14. Does that sound like it is updated? Bewitched is leaving starting Aug. 9. It's sad they can't keep their own schedule updated.
Pavan 07-21-2010, 06:09 PM Just got TV Land September (it's not their fall line-up though), but I will give all the info on it on Monday as we start our annual fall schedules barrage on the blog.
To stir things up, two shows are back with new deals on TV Land in late September! I am surprised actually but they fit. Makes you guesses here and find out what they are on Monday.

Someone help me....wasn't the other 60s sitcom coming in September? Now there are 2 shows coming?
retrofan05 07-21-2010, 07:05 PM Someone help me....wasn't the other 60s sitcom coming in September? Now there are 2 shows coming?
Yes, supposedly there is a second sitcom coming. I think they said it was a 60's or 70's era sitcom.
Yes, supposedly there is a second sitcom coming. I think they said it was a 60's or 70's era sitcom.60s/70s...I have no idea...why even bother when you won't show most of them that you have?
I Dream of Jeannie? Dick Van Dyke? Mary Tyler Moore? Get Smart?
retrofan05 07-21-2010, 08:35 PM I was also thinking I Dream of Jeannie since it fits so well with Bewitched. Maybe The Munsters or Addams Family? Gomer Pyle? I have no idea. It could be anything.
Pavan 07-21-2010, 08:52 PM These 2 sitcoms came out of nowhere and have been on TV Land already but expired and now are coming back. I don't think this is the one that you all have been pondering about. Whatever that one is, it is not coming in September. Maybe October.
Show for September/October could be:
1) The Munsters (they always liked it and brought it back a few times)
2) Happy Days
3) Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C. (I've never understood why they didn't try this again since TAGS has done so well)
4) The Dick Van Dyke Show
5) Gilligan's Island
6) Get Smart
7) Barney Miller
8) Mary Tyler Moore
9) Bob Newhart Show
10) I Dream of Jeannie
or, it could be a return of Good Times, Green Acres, The Brady Bunch, or The Jeffersons, which I do NOT see happening, but it's worth mentioning I guess.
Granted, those 10 aren't the only 60s or 70s shows they have aired, but the rest I just can't see (Gidget? Chico and the Man? Hazel? nah.....). Of the shows I mentioned, my money's on 1, 3, or 5. 10 for October.
JulieSomoski 07-21-2010, 11:04 PM They fit - so obviously, I'd think I Dream of Jeannie, as fitting with Bewitched. Perhaps that's why TV Land is pulling it for the rest of summer - they want to relaunch it in a block with IDOJ of September?
The other one - has to be one that fits with the primetime block. So, I'd automatically think something like Mad About You or Murphy Brown, which both aired before. Mad About You would fit the best, and would be great paired with Raymond, The Nanny, and Roseanne (Mad About You at 11 would be great).
But if they're 60's/70's, I have no idea. It could really be anything they've aired in the past
tvparadise 07-21-2010, 11:10 PM I'm going to guess Good Times (it fits with the other Norman Lear shows), The Munsters (doesn't really fit with much, but it always comes back) or Just Shoot Me (Wendie Malick is on "Hot in Cleavland").
Then I Dream of Jeannie as the 2nd classic that has been teased for over a year and a half. At that point Bewitched will return and be paired with IDOJ.
tvparadise 07-21-2010, 11:21 PM Don't know if it means anything, but they've very recently added show pages on their website for the following shows:
Gomer Pyle USMC
I Dream of Jeannie
MacGyver
Night Court
benjamoon 07-22-2010, 12:11 AM I wondered initially if it would be a show that featured a "Hot in Cleveland" actress (which basically equates to "Mary Tyler Moore" or "Just Shoot Me" under the category of shows they've aired before, JSM has George Segal too who will be in their upcoming sitcom)
"I Dream of Jeannie" is a decent guess too and the message boards might be an indication. I don't really think "Night Court" fits that well so I don't think it's that. Perhaps "Gomer Pyle USMC"
DSfan 07-22-2010, 12:18 AM I really don't know what the two shows will be, but I'm very intrigued to find out! If it's a great show they aired from their better years, it'll be a win for all of us probably.

I think I already said Bewitched is not coming back until October at earliest. These 2 "out of no where shows" are in late September.

It is true....nobody said the other show would be pre-80s, but so many of the 80s and beyond shows have failed, I don't know if they would be willing to try them again. The 60s/70s shows have had better runs mostly, but that was back when they were showing mostly classics. I wonder if they would be willing to try MAY or Murphy Brown again? They went to the extreme of cancelling the contracts....pretty rare. Maybe Wings? Then again, it's in that same category.
Sorry to keep asking questions, but there are TWO "out of nowhere shows" THEN the other one we've been talking about in October? So 3 new shows?? Or 2?
Pavan 07-22-2010, 12:43 AM 3 total (2 out of nowhere returnees in late Sept. and this long rumored classic for October(?)), plus That '70s Show I think is coming, but I have to check on that.
JulieSomoski 07-22-2010, 12:56 AM My god. Is TV Land biting off a bit more than they can chew here? 3 new shows (plus possibly That 70's Show) is a lot.
I have to say that I Dream of Jeannie looks pretty solid for returning, as probably the long-rumored classic coming in October, especially since Bewitched will be returning in October, per what Pavan just said. Certainly they'd launch a nice block of both shows together.
The other 2 rumored shows - could be anything. I was also going to say Just Shoot Me, but if Hot in Cleveland or Retired at 35 won't be airing until January, what's the point of returning it in late September? Honestly, I can't see that show fitting in that well with the rest of the primetime lineup. The show I see fitting in the most there is Mad About You. Like I said, it would go very well inbetween Raymond and Roseanne, almost seaminglessly. Murphy Brown is another option, but that fits in less, and it's a tad older.
Gomer Pyle is another good guess. That would definitely fit in with Andy Griffith, Gunsmoke, and Bonanza. MacGyver and Night Court I doubt, yet I wonder why they're included on the TV Land website.

I hate to keep bringing them up, but remember the 3 sitcoms (Beaver, Beverly Hillbillies, Hogan's Heroes) that are already on hiatus, and I'm sure they'll air at some point before they expire. So they have 3 shows they aren't even airing. I agree, 3 new shows plus 70s Show is a little too much that close together unless they plan to put some more shows on hiatus or cut back? I'm pretty sure one of the shows will be Jeannie, probably the long-speculated October one.
Murphy Brown seems too old for primetime, IMO. If not for primetime, I don't think they'd get it again. Like I said, they canceled the contract...very rare. We really can't speculate much as we don't know the age of the shows. I doubt it's an 80s show (doesn't really fit, and like I said, most of their 80s shows have flopped). Mad About You would be a good pickup, but since it failed on NAN and TV Land before, I just wonder if they'd try it again.
If That 70s Show comes, they'll probably have primetime like this: 8-9PM Nanny, 9-10PM Raymond, 10-11PM 70s Show, 11-12AM Roseanne or something like that. They might not need a show for primetime.
retrofan05 07-22-2010, 08:04 AM Is it just me, or would That 70's Show seem really out of place? Other than the fact that it's set in the 70's, which would fit with the classic theme of the network, it seems to me it's more of a teen/young adult oriented show. I would say TV Land is focusing more on an older demographic with shows like She's Got the Look, Hot in Cleveland, and other sitcoms that are popular with an older audience.
icecream 07-22-2010, 03:34 PM I wondered initially if it would be a show that featured a "Hot in Cleveland" actress (which basically equates to "Mary Tyler Moore" or "Just Shoot Me" under the category of shows they've aired before, JSM has George Segal too who will be in their upcoming sitcom)Didn't One Day at a Time air on TVLand?

benjamoon 07-22-2010, 04:14 PM Didn't One Day at a Time air on TVLand?
I don't think so... maybe one time for a special or something but never on the regular schedule
Pavan 07-22-2010, 04:40 PM Still no word on That '70s Show, but it was announced for Fall 2010 back in 2008:
http://blog.sitcomsonline.com/2008/09/tv-land-announces-new-primetime-block.html
I can tell you it is NOT on the September schedule, but I am guessing it will be in October.
retrofan05 07-22-2010, 06:15 PM So 3 shows plus That 70's Show? Are these in addition to the current programming or are some shows leaving/expiring?
So 3 shows plus That 70's Show? Are these in addition to the current programming or are some shows leaving/expiring?Little House on the Prairie expires at the end of August, The Cosby Show is expiring in September (and will not be renewed, only sitcom expiring that month, read the blog), and The Beverly Hillbillies in December (I doubt it will be renewed). Star Trek as well.
I can't believe they're going to have 3 new shows plus That 70s Show. I wonder if more shows on the schedule will join the already benched shows when these are added?
I think That 70s Show would fit in primetime.
Pavan 07-23-2010, 01:45 PM That '70s Show is not going to air this year. Not sure yet when it will launch. Maybe 2011.
You know, I was thinking - with The Cosby Show expiring (I'm not really surprised), TV Land will have no 80s sitcoms. They have some, like Three's Company that ran in to the 80s or Roseanne that started in '88, but no true 80s sitcom. They have more 60s shows than any other era! Maybe one of the shows coming will an 80s sitcom? Night Court, since it's on the website? I can't for the life of me figure out what shows may be coming.
I'm surprised they're keeping The Cosby Show in the evenings for this long - obviously the ratings aren't good with them not renewing. Guess Home Improvement does even worse.
Gilligan's Island is on the website now....has it always been there? I Dream of Jeannie is on there as well. Some of the recently expired shows are on there still also.
tvparadise 07-23-2010, 02:30 PM Where did you read The Cosby Show will not be renewed?
I think they need to try and get Married...with Children back. It seemed like it did well and Home Improvement and Raymond may work somewhat well around it.
As far as 80's shows...I doubt it. I just don't think outside of The Golden Girls, The Cosby Show, and Cheers any other shows from that decade do that well.
Gilligan's Island was added to the site with the re-launch last month along with Charlie's Angels and The A-Team. IDOJ was just added in the last week or so. MacGyver, Night Court, and Gomer Pyle have now been taken down.

MacGyver, Night Court, and Gomer Pyle have now been taken down. It's the last paragraph on yesterday's blog. Pavan says one sitcom will expire. The Cosby Show is the only sitcom expiring in September.
I am surprised Married...With Children hasn't been back, at least in a marathon form. However, it's not even listed as one of their shows, so I guess they couldn't work anything out with Spike. It is a shame about the 80s shows- I wouldn't mind seeing a Night Court, Benson or Family Ties on TV Land again.
That "Shows" section is very confusing. They need to pull those off of there that they no longer have access to. I'm pretty sure Jeannie is coming in October, so that is probably why it was added. The other ones I have no idea about. I'm thinking two of the shows will be classics (60s or 60s going in to 70s) and one will be more recent. The only recent ones could be Murphy Brown, Mad About You, Wings, or Roc (sure).
Pavan 07-23-2010, 04:51 PM One and only hint about the two sitcoms coming back in late September - they never went into the '90s. Have fun speculating. It is interesting to see what you all say.
I'm not saying anymore. See you Monday at noon ET/9am PT on the blog for the schedule! Note, I can't announce the October show on Monday. So you will have to wait a bit on that.
tvparadise 07-23-2010, 06:18 PM Not into the 90s....well, that eliminates MWC, Night Court, Cheers, Just Shoot Me, Murphy Brown, Mad About You, etc....
I'm thinking they'll be something that hasn't been gone for too long...Good Times, The Brady Bunch, The Jeffersons, Green Acres, The Munsters, The Addams Family (out of those I'd say Good Times, Green Acres, and The Munsters have the best chance).
3rd Rock also expires in September....
Pavan 07-23-2010, 06:29 PM Well, Married...with Children was never in the running since it never expired. Spike TV is still running it. In fact, they have just announced it is returning to the Spike TV morning line-up effective Monday replacing The Unit. Weekdays 9-10am, in addition to the already scheduled Sundays 9-11am slots.
tvparadise 07-23-2010, 07:22 PM Such a waste....so much more could be done with MWC than mornings. Must be a really odd contract.
retrofan05 07-23-2010, 07:26 PM I don't think anyone brought up The Jeffersons. It would fit well with Sanford & Son and All in the Family. It's also listed under "Other TV Shows" on TV Land.com. Although, that may not mean anything.
JulieSomoski 07-23-2010, 10:38 PM It has to be The Jeffersons. That's the only that makes sense. And, perhaps Good Times. Although, that was so recently expired I'm not sure they'd reacquire it so soon. Although, Good Times/The Jeffersons/Sanford/AITF fit together before, so they might be looking to create another morning lineup with them.
I give up. lol. I'll just wait til Monday to find out :D

I would bet my August Rent that it's not the Jeffersons-lol
DSfan 07-23-2010, 11:45 PM I would bet my August Rent that it's not the Jeffersons-lol
Happy Days?
DUH me...it's probably 3rd Rock then.
I don't think they would bring back shows that just expired. They obviously saw nothing in them several months ago, so why would that change so quickly? TV Land has aired tons of shows from the 60s, 70s, and 80s, so it could be anything.
I agree with tvparadise....it is probably something older like The Munsters (it's been re-acquired many times) and a more recent 70s/80s show? and then likely I Dream of Jeannie coming later. I don't think they're going to go out on a limb with any of these shows. It is probably something that worked in the past....like the more recent acquisitions of Bewitched, Hogan's Heroes, and The Beverly Hillbillies (classic wise). If it's something from the 70s or 80s, I really have no idea, because the only shows they paid attention to from the 70s just expired.
Nevertheless, I'm glad to see the channel still paying pre-90s shows attention. Maybe they'll get a good morning sitcom block going again.
TVFactFan 07-23-2010, 11:56 PM Happy Days?
Now that would make me smile-lol
MikeLutton 07-24-2010, 12:03 AM sure would make me smile as well get to se the seasons not on dvd it better be it anyway Laverne shirley, mork n mindy, mabye Night court
SpenceOlchin 07-24-2010, 01:22 PM Now that would make me smile-lol
Me too. :)
OK, final prediction after thinking it through is Happy Days, The Munsters, and I Dream of Jeannie coming later. All three are solid classics that would probably do well with what they already have.
Bring Hogan's Heroes back to pair with The Munsters, Leave it to Beaver with Happy Days, and Bewitched with Jeannie. Then there would be All in the Family with Sanford and Son. All could be paired very well.
Pavan 07-29-2010, 11:38 AM FRAN DRESCHER IS IN CHARGE WHEN “THE NANNY” JOINS TV LAND BEGINNING AUGUST 2
Network Celebrates Launch With Week-Long Nightly Marathons Of
Hilarious Star-Studded Episodes From Series
New York, NY, July 29, 2010 – Worlds and cultures collide between a sassy Queens nanny and an upper class Manhattan family when “The Nanny” joins TV Land beginning Monday, August 2 at 6PM ET/PT. The network celebrates the arrival of the outspoken Fran Fine each weeknight from Monday, August 2nd through Friday, August 6th with star-studded mini-Nanny-thons featuring guest stars such as Roseanne Barr, Ray Romano, Jay Leno, Harry Hamlin, Joan Collins, Billy Ray Cyrus, Elizabeth Taylor and more. Plus, viewers will get the inside scoop on how Fran went from nanny to wife as TV Land features the highs and lows of Fran’s romance with Broadway producer and boss, Maxwell Sheffield with romantic episodes on Saturday, August 7th from 12PM – 9PM and Sunday, August 8th from 12PM – 10PM ET/PT. Beginning August 9th, “The Nanny” can be seen weeknights at 8:00PM ET/PT on TV Land.
“‘The Nanny’ is the perfect companion to our other modern classics ‘Everybody Loves Raymond’ and ‘Roseanne’,” states TV Land senior vice president of programming and acquisitions Jaclyn Cohen. “Millions of viewers tuned in every week to this timeless and entertaining series because they couldn’t resist Fran Drescher’s endearing character, the talented cast and the show’s quick-witted writing.”
Drescher starred in this beloved ‘90s sitcom as Fran Fine, a bubbly and nasal-voiced Queens native who was fired from her job and abandoned by her boyfriend. Eventually selling cosmetics door to door, she meets a rich, widowed English Broadway producer named Maxwell Sheffield (Charles Shaughnessy) and is taken for an applicant for the job of nanny to Maxwell's three children Maggie (Nicholle Tom), Brighton (Benjamin Salisbury), and Grace (Madeline Zima). Her nurturing style includes out-of-the-ordinary techniques coupled with a tell-it-like-it-is attitude which made the children, the butler, Niles (Daniel Davis) – and eventually her boss – fall in love with her. Also complementing the exceptional cast was Fran’s food-loving mother, Sylvia (Renée Taylor) and Maxwell’s partner and Niles’ arch-enemy, C.C. Babcock (Lauren Lane). Drescher was nominated twice for an Emmy® and the show received countless awards including a TV Land Award in 2008 for Favorite Nanny. “The Nanny” ran on CBS from 1993-1999.

Who is watching The Nanny? Seems like it's briefly interrupted for something every night - movie, Hot In Cleveland premiere or encore, She's Got The Look preview countless times...oh well, you can always catch it on Nick at Nite ;) seems to me they are hurting the launch by it continuing on Nick at Nite so prominently.
Pavan 08-11-2010, 08:08 PM Late night The Nanny expansions for 5 days:

While it is kind of silly to have it on both channels, I would be surprised if Nick at Nite pulled it. Obviously George Lopez is their most popular show, but isn't The Nanny it's second most popular? Someone correct me if I'm wrong. It will be interesting to see how My Wife and Kids does. Something tells me it won't be the next Nanny or George Lopez.

I wonder if the Nick at Nite viewers made the switch to TV Land, or what?
I would suggest taking Home Improvement off of TV Land (fail) and sending it back to Nick at Nite, where it seemed to do better. It fits their theme better and could maybe take some of The Nanny's airtime away.
Pavan 08-12-2010, 04:30 PM TV LAND’S HIT SERIES, “HOT IN CLEVELAND” PROPELS TVLAND.COM TO ITS BEST MONTH EVER
June 2010 Marks Record Numbers For The Site With Exclusive
“Hot In Cleveland” Content, Site Re-Design And Facebook Campaign
New York, NY, August 12, 2010 – June was a record-breaking month for TVLand.com as it witnessed the best month ever in the site’s history. Fueled by the premiere of TV Land’s new original sitcom “Hot in Cleveland” on June 16th, TVLand.com doubled its prior month’s audience and saw a 62% increase versus last year. The site offered exclusive and hilarious multi-media content featuring the sitcom’s stars Valerie Bertinelli, Jane Leeves, Wendie Malick and Betty White as well as behind-the-scenes set tours, video interviews, character bios, cast and episode photo galleries and much more.
Additionally, June 16th also marked the site’s re-launch with a new look and feel. On that day, TVLand.com experienced its most-visited day ever for the site – more than twice its prior record for unique visitors. Video content from “Hot in Cleveland” resulted in TVLand.com streaming almost 8 million videos in June – double-digit increases versus May 2010 and last year’s consumption level. TVLand.com generated 923K* unique visitors for the month of June 2010, which was up +108% versus May 2010 and +62% versus year-ago levels making it the best month ever for the site.
“We are excited that our ‘Hot in Cleveland’ content coupled with the revamped design attracted these record traffic numbers,” stated Don Steele, vice president of digital marketing for MTV Networks digital entertainment group. “As our viewers await the highly-anticipated second season premiere in 2011, we will continue to super-serve the show’s fans with compelling and interesting ‘Hot in Cleveland’ content throughout its production, so that they continue to get the inside scoop on the show.”
In June, TVLand.com offered fans exclusive behind-the-scenes video access to the set of “Hot in Cleveland.” Updated throughout the month, the site featured bonus videos including a personal set tour by the show’s stars Valerie Bertinelli and Wendie Malick, a visit to the stars dressing rooms and an interview with the wardrobe designer Lori Eskowitz-Carter (“Will & Grace,” “Samantha Who?”) and more. TVLand.com also offered the unedited faux-commercial for Victoria's (Wendie Malick) Lady Pants product endorsement from Japan. Additionally, the online rollout continues throughout the show’s August 18th cliffhanger finale which guest stars soap legend and Victoria Chase nemesis, Susan Lucci. Visitors to TVLand.com and the “Hot in Cleveland” Facebook page will have a chance to discuss the shocking episode and be treated to exclusive finale content.
“Hot in Cleveland’s” Facebook fan page has attracted over 90K new fans since the series premiered. TV Land was dedicated to this social networking platform to communicate with loyal fans using updates, teases of upcoming episodes and exclusive video messages from the cast specifically to the Facebook community. I agree with that. Home Improvement must be doing terrible on TV Land, seeing as it only airs once a night at 3 AM. I think it would be better if it were back on Nick at Nite. I kind of feel like TV Land is under the impression that if they air shows that did well on Nick at Nite, they will have the same success on TV Land. However, that isn't always going to be the case (i.e. Home Improvement). TV Land and Nick at Nite's demographics are totally different.

Andy Griffith this Saturday, I like that. But what's the point in this? Funny that they are moving The Nanny's marathon to morning and not at least 12-4....I wish we had an idea about how it's doing. Maybe they want a strong lead-in for HIC?
As for Home Improvement, I wouldn't be surprised if it's gone entirely soon. They are obviously done with it.

marylinda1 08-22-2010, 07:30 AM well ok then, forgive me for asking...

Why is the Nanny a good fit?

Where's the PR for SGTL? Oh, I forgot....
Horrible show that never does well but they keep bringing it back. The ratings were NOT good last year.
Pavan, were the changes I posted a while back for this weekend correct (moving The Nanny to mornings, etc like they've done the past few weeks)? Just wanted to make sure. Looks like those changes will carry over in to September as well.
SpenceOlchin 08-26-2010, 11:17 PM SGTL apparently got 705,000 viewers for its season premiere.
