Hopper was certainly a unique person, and he had a way of making his screen presence really imposing and scary. I have to admit I've only seen a few of his flicks, but they sure made an impression.

Dennis Hopper had a career laster for five and a half decades. His last two wives had only lived to see four of them. He was in a dispute with his last wife, and Hopper should have had the chance to divorce Duffy before he passed. May-December marriage is evil if the younger spouse didn't live to see the beginning of an actor's career.

When it comes to May-December relationships... Don't hate the entertainer...hate the spouse.

Very sad. His illness took its toll very quickly.

This guy was awesome. One of the few actors, I think, that is enjoyable to watch no matter how bad the movie is.

And I've seen him in some bad movies - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0196158/

I'll always know him from TCM 2:

Same here. It was the first TCM movie I saw, and it's still my favorite.

It's also the only one of the series different compared to the rest.

All of the others were pretty much re-doings of the original; travelers get lost, stumble upon crazy family's house, chasing, "dinner scene", and female escape.

Yeah, I just find it to be super entertaining all around in its campy way. I also really enjoy the Chop Top character.

Before he hit the big screen playing a succession of weirdos and psychos, he was a young struggling actor looking to make a few bucks by appearing on such TV series as the Twilight Zone (as seen above) and "Petticoat Junction", where he guest starred as a serious free-spirited beatnik who is admired and loved by Bobbie Jo Bradley. The episode is called "Bobbie Jo and the Beatnik" and it's one of only 7 episodes from the series that is available on public domain videos. You can see it right here:

Michael Moriarty, who appeared with Dennis in the 1981 flick Reborn, wrote about the late actor in his latest column:

But then again, I’ll never see Dennis Hopper … ever again!

Unless, of course, we’re actually allowed to meet on “the other side!”

Dennis and I worked together in a film called Reborn so this little tribute to him came too late.

God willing, Elaine (Stritch), like hopefully Sidney Poitier as well, can sense my gratitude to God for having had the privilege to have worked with both of them and to have known them both as friends, if only for a short while.

As for Dennis Hopper, we both only had one brief scene together which went with unexpected simplicity and ease within only a few takes.

Other, much bigger stars have actually pushed the envelope of self-indulgence to vastly higher levels than Dennis did with me.

The only inconvenience he ever caused me was a late night impulse to hear his favorite rock musicians at about 3 a.m.

We were shooting Reborn in Galveston, Texas and the motel we were all housed in had paper-thin walls.

I and my wife Anne sat bolt upright in bed!

I finally got up amidst all the noise and went into the hall, knocked on Dennis’ door.

He opened it and immediately began his apologies, “Hey, man, I’m sorry, man … really sorry but I just had to hear my music, ya know? And when ya gotta hear yer music, ya know …. “

“Right, Dennis,” I said, “But could you turn it down, please … low enough so we can sleep?”

“Yeah, sure, man … sorry, no problem!”

Dennis was never a major problem for me during the brief time we worked together.
