I just recently found and read the original book Gidget which started the entire Gidget movies and the southern california surf culture including the Annette and Frankie Berach Movies ans surf music-Dick Dale & the Deltones Jan & Dean and the Beach Boys. The surf craze started inh Malibu, California in 1956 with Gidget and the guys who taught her to surf--it peaked in the summer of 1963!! The book GIDGET by Frederick Kohner --and his
daughter Kathy Korner who IS the original Gidget.(Berkley Books)

There was a story on the re-release of the original "Gidget" book on "Entertainment Tonight" (or some show like that) recently.

Wow that would be interesting to read buddy!

What I have seen of the show its not 1/2 bad.... Gidget herself is awesome :)
