McGillicuddy 04-19-2010, 07:20 PM It seems not all the extras are revealed yet. I wanna know who the certain somebody is the had a sit-down interview. (????????!!!!!!!!!!)
Still, I'm thrilled to know the release date and to see the cover art.
rcbrad 04-19-2010, 09:10 PM I am glad that it is coming out in July! I am glad that they are including cast commercials again!!
Some may disagree with me, but I was not very fond of the cover art at all. Surely there must be a better picture to showcase Lucy Carmichael and Lucille Ball.
At any rate, this is a must buy for me! :)
comedyfreak 04-20-2010, 04:22 AM This is good news, I'm going to preorder this one
Kasey 04-20-2010, 10:46 AM I agree, that is not the most flattering cover art. But more important is the fact we are actually getting uncut, remastered episodes, so I won't gripe too much about it.
likewow 04-20-2010, 04:03 PM The cover art blows. Where is Lucy's red hair? Why aren't the little background scenes in color? This season has Lucy in color for the first time! No mention of that?

Thats the way I feel. I'm a little disappointed in the cover art also, but on the other hand, who cares! What matters is that we have a release date and the second season's remastered, uncut episodes!!!
TeeVeeCloset 04-20-2010, 07:07 PM WOW!!! about 5 of us are all in agreement, thrilled it's coming, would buy it without any cover art, but my first reaction to the cover art was "yuck, is that the best they can do????" it has no attraction to the average consumer while browsing the aisles, the numerous public domain releases of the same old "Lucy" episodes have had much better covers.....hopefully this news will get to them and they can change it.....it really is an awful cover!
lucyandethel 04-21-2010, 01:00 AM Honestly, I could care less what is on the box. Just as long as seasons 2 - 6 are out soon!:)
McGillicuddy 04-21-2010, 06:21 PM They've posted a high resolution of the package art. I guess its not THAT bad. I am glad its uniform with the first season artwork.
Jude The Obscure 04-21-2010, 09:37 PM And at least they are using the correct show logo used with the second season...... but anyhoo..............YES!!!!!!!!!!!! :jig:

As usual Jude yes we are in complete agreement and even though I am still not thrilled with even the better 3D shot of the cover, I was very happy they used the correct season two "The Lucy Show" logo......now how will they handle those aburpt "The Lucy Show.... brought to you buy....cut to black!" Back in the 70's my local NY WOR-TV Channel 9 used to run the opening up to that point.....hopefully they will have an option to watch in broadcast mode as in season one....
Jude The Obscure 04-22-2010, 10:15 PM I'm sure they will have vintage commercials and stuff for this opening as well. I have an audio mp3 of a second season opening with Log Cabin as the sponsor.

I like the cover art. The background figures match how the background figures on the season one box set were presented which is great. The only thing I don't like about it is that the title "The Lucy Show" isn't done the same way as season one with the red colours used for some of the words. But again it's great to have this release. I wonder if Jimmy Garrett is back participating in this box set? I hope so
TeeVeeCloset 04-23-2010, 09:50 AM I also wonder if they will continue with the unnecessary but I guess nice protective identical outer cardboard sleeve like in season 1, if not, they will not line up with the same height/thickness and they won't look like they belong together as a series set when next to eachother. aahhh...the things us serious TV DVD collectors think of? Am I the only one?...lol....

Yes, uniformity is important to me also. I really hate it when they change the packaging in the middle of season releases, like The Mary Tyler Moore Show and Cheers.

I wish Ralph Hart or Candy Moore would participate, but I think it was confirmed they're not.

It isn't done like that because the second season logo was done (as you see it on the box) in the opening sequence.
pghjerry 04-25-2010, 11:29 PM Do you think any of the Ethel Merman songs will get cut?
McGillicuddy 04-26-2010, 01:39 AM Do you think any of the Ethel Merman songs will get cut?
I would say NO for 3 reasons:
1) "Big Girls Don't Cry" was not cut or butchered from the episode in season 1.
2) Ethel Merman appeared and sang on That Girl and I don't think anything was cut.
3) I don't think at this point they would cut anything from any of Lucy's shows. They NOW know we want our "Lucy", not just I Love Lucy, but all of it!!!!!
Robert 13 04-27-2010, 11:11 AM It states on www.thelucyshowdvd.com that the episodes will be "completely unedited! Just like the season one set, season two will again be jam-packed with bonus features..." So this set is continuing on the success of Season 1.

How do you like that TeeVee, we griped, and they changed the coverart! Or maybe they they figured it out on their own that the initial artwork was hidious.
