She was the glue that kept that show together. She might have not had the funniest lines, but the show suffered without her presence once she left. IMO

View Full Version : Mabel King WAS to What's Happening As John Amos Was to Good Times Brian Damage 03-07-2010, 11:55 AM She was the glue that kept that show together. She might have not had the funniest lines, but the show suffered without her presence once she left. IMO Mr. Television 03-07-2010, 02:27 PM I totally agree. The last season was really subpar. Even if Roger didn't live at home anymore, she still should have been on. Brian Damage 03-07-2010, 02:30 PM well said, even though her part was small, she added heart to the show, something that Shirley Hemphill couldn't replace. catlover79 03-07-2010, 04:30 PM Anyone know exactly why she left? TVFactFan 03-08-2010, 08:46 PM She was the glue that kept that show together. She might have not had the funniest lines, but the show suffered without her presence once she left. IMO no, she was raj was the glue that held the show together Brian Damage 03-08-2010, 08:51 PM no, she was raj was the glue that held the show together Solomon, the show fell apart once she left. Smartboy 03-09-2010, 05:47 AM I will agree that the show had fallen apart by the third season. However, I do not know if this was because of the absense of Mable. However, I think that episodes like the one in which Dwain went to work as a peanut salesman were cries of desperation! I also think that the addition of little Earl and his crush on Dee was a sub-plot that went nowhere. TMC 12-06-2015, 09:59 PM She was the glue that kept that show together. She might have not had the funniest lines, but the show suffered without her presence once she left. IMO I think that Bernie Orenstein said it best on TVOne's Unsung Hollywood episode on WH that Mable King was the moral center of the show.
