At the store, what do you call the thing you put items in? Carts or baskets?

I have called them both before. I know sometimes it depends on geographic locations. I'm just curious to see what people call them. I have even heard people call them buggies before.

A cart. A basket is for easter eggs! :lol:

Around here everyone calls them buggies. ;)

If I push it--it is a Cart
If I carry it--it is a Basket

With the wheels it's a shopping cart.
Basket is what you hold in your hand with handles.

I call it a cart. Now if I can actually get a decent one at WM, one that one of the wheels is always skipping, so to where you can hear me all over the store!!:mad:

Yeah, that! I know when you go to target you can use a cart if you're getting a lot of things (big thing with wheels and you push it) or they have baskets that you carry a few things in. So to me they're 2 completely different things, not different names. I thought the only names for them were cart or buggy (which some people on here seem to be calling, too)

Cart

I call it a shopping cart.

My mom used to call it a wagon. I used to tease her about that. :)

I usually called them carts. But on occasions will call it a buggy. I call my car a buggy but back in the 1920;s people did call cars buggies.

Me too, some of us with walking issues use the buggy to hold on to while shopping.

In America I've never heard them called anything but a shopping cart.

Of course if you carry it then it's a basket.

I would think a BASKET is something smaller (Like many have said above)
