"The Last Show" put The Mary Tyler Moore Show in sixth place for the week it aired (the week ending March 20, 1977). It had a rating of 25.5, which translates to 18 million homes.

I imagine the total number of people watching that night was much more than 51 million people and 23.4 percent of the population.
