I can't STAND that annoying song. I hate it when people sing it to me on my birthday and hate hearing it sang to other people too.

I love birthdays, I love being wished a happy birthday, I love celebrating birthdays...but that song is awful. Who decided this was catchy? They need a new one.

I don't mind the Birthday song.

I am more tolerable to it now but when I was younger I would have, like, panic attacks knowing that they would sing it to me or I would have to sing it to someone else. Nice to know I'm not the only one.

Not really, although as I have aged I have been tiring of people, well, reminding me that I am older. The attention gets to me, as well. I don't really want the world to know.

While the song as a whole doesn't bother me, hearing the song being done by a restaurant is grating on the ears to me, not to mention embarrassing. One violator is (or should I say was, since the chain went out of business in 2002) the Bill Knapp's chain, with restaurants in Ohio and Michigan, as well as a few in Indiana, that played an instrumental version over the loudspeaker when one of the guests was celebrating a birthday. The others are those loud theme restaurants in which the waiters and waitresses start clapping and come over to the guest and say "happy happy birthday" (or whatever; it's hard to make out over the clapping). puke:

I'm not wild over it being sung to me, but I do think it's a sweet song. The look on a child's face when it's sung to them is priceless. It's the most recognized song in the English language. It has an interesting history.
