Did anyone else here immediately think of UM when they heard about the "Pizza Bomber" a couple years back? For those who don't remember, here's a link to the wikipedia article on the man involved:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brian_Douglas_Wells

When I heard about that, the very first thing I thought of was the segment of UM in which a taxi driver was taken hostage, had what he was told was a bomb put around his neck, and then forced to rob a bank. If I remember right, it turned out it wasn't a bomb, at all, just a box with wires and stuff. I was wondering if the police investigated the possibility that this was perhaps done by the same people (I don't remember where the UM one happened), or at the very least, maybe the people who did it got the idea from this segment....any thoughts?

Yea I remember seeing this case on another show. I didn't put the connection together and I'm not sure it was done by the same people as opposed to a copycat group. The police ended up determining that Brian Wells was not an innocent by-standard as he claimed and that he was part of this group that thought this up. His family steadfastly denies this. They swear up and down that he would never do such a thing. Very very odd case.

Yeah, I know. I'm not saying I think they were behind it, either. I just wondered if the police investigating it had ever even heard of the previous case, and if they had, if they thought of the possibility of either the same people, or a copycat. I wasn't totally clear in my first post, I guess :)
