Has anyone here made the switch from regular pop to diet pop? If so, was it hard for you to adjust?

I did, just short of a year ago. To be honest, it was difficult at first, because I was always a HUGE pop drinker. When I made the decision to eat healthier and lose weight, it was one of the first things to go. I didn't really like drinking diet pop, because to me it tasted strange. I'd only drink a little bit with meals, and that was it. But today, I can barely even taste the difference. It really grew on me, I'm happy to say.

I'm probably gonna hold off being healthy until I'm 50 and it goes straight to my thighs and I can't ignore it anymore.

Nah for real...diet soda has always just been weird to me. It tastes flat and for some strange reason it gives me a headache. The latter is the main reason I avoid it. I don't drink that much soda period now, anyway.

It doesn't really make sense that diet would have so much sugar in it lol. Maybe that's why it gives me a headache.

Most diet drinks contain no sugar but substitutes such as splenda and aspartame and they can be high in sodium.

Ah, I see. I'm sure that can cause headaches. Maybe not, I'm no doctor.

The caffeine is most likely the cause of the headaches although other ingredients probably attribute to them as well. I average about 12 cans a day and have never gotten a headache. The worst thing is trying to drink a regular soda after several years of switching to diet. For me the taste was absolutely horrible, It was like drinking a bottle of syrup.

I compared both regular and diet Mt. Dew and each have 54mg's of caffeine.

The only diet soda I'll drink is Diet A&W or Diet Mug Root Beer. I used to drink Diet Coke like crazy, but the caffine was making me sick and it wasn't very agreeable with my body, if you know what I mean!

Yeah, The only sodas/pops I drink are diet. With the exception of Diet Moutain Dew. That stuff tastes like PISS.

But I actually don't drink a lot of soda/pop in general. Mainly just water and juice.

Some of the flavored varieties of diet pop are OK, such as Diet Cherry Vanilla Dr. Pepper or the "Pepsi Jazz" that came out a while back (Black Cherry and Vanilla I think).

I read that some of the preservatives in diet soda can do wicked things to your DNA. I don't drink regular soda anymore as it has way too much sugar, and honestly, I don't drink a lot of diet soda either, maybe two or three cans a week.

I have been drinking diet soda since I was diagonozed with Diabetes almost ten years ago. I liked the taste since they got rid of sacrin(sp).

So I'm not the only one who noticed Diet Mountain Dew tastes nasty.. :o And Mountain Dew was always my favorite pop, too. I just drink the rip-off flavor in diet form. THANK GOODNESS.

I HATE diet soda, but I do need to cut back on the regular stuff. Lately I'm trying to drink more Sprite, since it seems to have less calories than the other sodas.

I go between Mt. Dew & Water. I rarely drink any regular drink, I try to stick to diet drinks since they taste about the same to me.

I've been drinking caffeine free diet Coke for many years now. At first it didn't taste that great to me because I had mainly been drinking regular pepsi but now when I try to drink a regular soft drink, it tastes way too sweet.
