Pavan 01-20-2010, 03:23 PM They will start it from the pilot on March 1 and air in order. the truth 01-20-2010, 04:12 PM Nice! And a marathon on March 20th and 21st.... - Bewitched: Better Living Through Magic Marathon Saturday, March 20, 2010 and Sunday, March 21, 2010 11am-11pm ET/PT Before Bella fell for Edward in Twilight, before Sookie swooned over Bill in True Blood, even before Buffy scored Spike in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, everybody’s favorite witch, Samantha married the mortal man of her dreams, Darrin Stephens, and started a cozy life in the suburbs. This weekend TV Land welcomes back the original supernatural suburban sorceress with a two day marathon of the best episodes of Bewitched, featuring Samantha using her magic to make life a little easier by teaching bizarre relatives, nosy neighbors and boorish bosses some sorely needed life lessons. PrettyinPink55 01-21-2010, 01:54 AM Sweet!!! :) TV Knowledge Fan 01-21-2010, 02:42 AM ...even though the first two {black and white} seasons aren't part of their "package", they've always shown the closing credits in full (even if they reduced the picture a little in order to promote their next offering). TV LAND doesn't even care about closing credits anymore; they'll do to "BEWITCHED" what they're doing to their other series these days; flash a tiny list of cast and production credits at the bottom of the screen during the last 20 seconds of the episode's final scene, moving right into the next episode of whatever follows, denying us the right to hear the closing theme in full. That's one reason why I don't watch TV Land anymore. :read: treky 01-21-2010, 04:35 AM well said!!! I haven't watched TV LAND in so long for that reason; I don't even know what the channel number is on our cable system anymore. comedyfreak 01-21-2010, 06:38 AM I may just tune in for Bewitched. catlover79 01-21-2010, 01:01 PM ...even though the first two {black and white} seasons aren't part of their "package", they've always shown the closing credits in full (even if they reduced the picture a little in order to promote their next offering). At least the local channels (at least around the Cleveland area) that broadcast all shows air them uncut - which is more than what I can say for the cable channels. MickeyMac 01-21-2010, 01:12 PM ...even though the first two {black and white} seasons aren't part of their "package", they've always shown the closing credits in full (even if they reduced the picture a little in order to promote their next offering). Just when you think TV Land cant screw up anymore, they surprise you. the truth 01-21-2010, 04:17 PM I hate the way ALL cable channels desecrate the credits (and butcher the episodes) - with the exception of the local stations. At least the local channels (at least around the Cleveland area) that broadcast all shows air them uncut - which is more than what I can say for the cable channels. Do they air Bewitched uncut up there? I'd find that hard to believe since every episode's about 25+ minutes. Not a lot of time for commercials in a half-hour.....as it should be, but still. catlover79 01-21-2010, 09:15 PM Do they air Bewitched uncut up there? I'd find that hard to believe since every episode's about 25+ minutes. Not a lot of time for commercials in a half-hour.....as it should be, but still. Bewitched hasn't aired locally in the Cleveland area since 2004, but when it did, it was uncut. During the commerical breaks, they would usually air one commerical, like the ones for vitamin supplements, motorized scooters, etc. TV Knowledge Fan 01-22-2010, 03:28 AM At least you were lucky to see those episodes uncut in Cleveland, 'cat'! Although the exact content has varied over the years in different syndication "pacakges" (including the "DFS Program Exchange" era), SONY Pictures Television usually distributes a 22 minute version of each episode, allowing eight minutes for local/cable commercials. This means, of course, certain scenes have been trimmed, or omitted althogether. If you're fortunate enough to have the DVD box sets of each episode, you can compare how much is missing for yourself... :tv: Arfies 01-22-2010, 04:10 AM I taped the uncut episodes in Cleveland too, and it was like a miracle! This was pred-DVD, mind you! :) the truth 01-22-2010, 03:44 PM During the commercial breaks, they would usually air one commercial, like the ones for vitamin supplements, motorized scooters, etc. It's funny how the advertisers all just assume that if anyone's watching Bewitched, then we must all be a bunch of old farts now. You know, we need vitamins, Viagra, motorized scooters, depends, other bladder aids, etc. The commercials are just so insulting. No, I'm not impotent and I don't need help peeing. Sorry, but I'm not dead just yet, even though I was just born when this show started out on the air. catlover79 01-22-2010, 04:40 PM I taped the uncut episodes in Cleveland too, and it was like a miracle! This was pred-DVD, mind you! :) So did I! Then I recorded over the tapes once Bewitched came out on DVD. I think almost all the shows that WUAB-43 aired in syndicated reruns were uncut...The Addams Family, Green Acres, The Andy Griffith Show, All In the Family, The Jeffersons, Lucy... Do you also remember the Sunday "Cop Block" Channel 43 used to air? They showed episodes of Baretta, Hunter, Kojak, Starsky & Hutch and Charlie's Angels all in a row. Those were the days...sigh... catlover79 01-22-2010, 04:42 PM It's funny how the advertisers all just assume that if anyone's watching Bewitched, then we must all be a bunch of old farts now. Sorry, but I'm not dead just yet, even though I was just born when this show started out on the air. Well, they also showed commercials for Safe Auto, public service ads, etc. But I have to admit I always got a kick out of that commercial that showed those two old ladies in Master Scooters on top of the Grand Canyon.  *ShortCake* 01-22-2010, 05:10 PM I have not watched TvLand in so long either. I feel like all they air is MASH, and MASH, and a little bit of the Beverely HillBillies. I am glad they decided to put this show back on the air. I may just watch to support this show.. catlover79 01-22-2010, 05:29 PM I have not watched TvLand in so long either. I have the first five, which is pretty much all I wanted (and could afford). Plus, they are all uncut and commercial free. I don't have cable, anyway. hch 01-25-2010, 12:35 PM I have all eight seasons so I dont need to deal with TVLand. Well said! The same thing with "Good Times", "I Love Lucy" and "The Cosby Show". Since I have them on DVD, I don't have to worry about seeing them on TV. catlover79 01-30-2010, 03:10 PM Well said! The same thing with "Good Times", "I Love Lucy" and "The Cosby Show". So if you were just going to tune in on March 1st at 5pm, you'd be surprised to see episode 7 airing and would wonder, "what happened"? It looks like they're also running on Saturday the 6th as well with about 12 straight episodes from 2pm to 8 pm. Does TVLand always do crap like that without anyone knowing it? Looks like the schedule's a nice thing to keep on hand..... http://www.tvland.com/schedule/ http://www.tvland.com/shows/bewitched/ Pavan 02-22-2010, 06:27 PM Yes, keep an eye on our monthly threads: http://www.sitcomsonline.com/boards/showthread.php?t=260529 snelson 02-22-2010, 07:32 PM the truth you should be grateful tvland brought back bewitched. the earlier the better. if it does welll it'll probally get a morning mararthon during the week. the truth 02-22-2010, 11:33 PM the truth you should be grateful tvland brought back bewitched. Why? It's on everywhere. I can see it on WGN America, on Crackle (unedited), on DVDs (also unedited & in their best quality) and on YouTube by the many folks there who upload episodes. TV Land will do what so many others do, chop 5 or so minutes out of a 24+ minute episode to get more commercials in. It just so happens that instead of starting on episode 1 on March 1st, they've jumped the gun to begin on the 28th instead, leaving the weekday viewer to wonder what happened if they didn't follow the TV Land schedule. I was just pointing it out for anyone here who might actually tune it in come March. snelson 02-23-2010, 11:13 AM i have the first 5 seasons on dvd. i wish wgn could show the first two seasons. i'm going to record the first two seasons since i olny have the colorized version. ClassicTVGal 02-24-2010, 10:51 PM This is *excellent* and I wanna say 'shocking' at the same time! haha Will be looking forward to this. :) Yes, I also remember having eps on tape, as well. snelson 02-27-2010, 10:40 AM tvland doesn't cut very much out of bewitched olny extended scenes like in "eye of the beholder" on dvd the cops drive by darrin's car on tvland it doesn't happen. i don't really mind. i think some episodes on the dvds were cut. Larry Tate 02-27-2010, 12:41 PM tvland doesn't cut very much out of bewitched olny extended scenes like in "eye of the beholder" on dvd the cops drive by darrin's car on tvland it doesn't happen. i don't really mind. i think some episodes on the dvds were cut. Actually TV Land cuts out about 3 1/2 minutes to get down to the 22 min. limit they have, Bewitched was over 25 min. in it's original run. On the DVD's the Ben Franklin two parter was cut and Part two had no laugh track as well & they used a different cut more up close look in #75 when Samantha gets out of Bed to find Tabitha & Darrin gone as Liz was embarrassed as the camera caught a look at her panties as she lifted the sheets. In the Columbia House VHS release of #75 they used the original shot that embarrassed Liz, i have both versions. Other then that they were complete. Larry Tate :) snelson 02-27-2010, 02:05 PM also in ep 39 when the salad attacks adam newlarkin on dvd he says "i know this doesn't make sense the salad attacked me" on tvlands he just says "the salad attacked me". the truth 02-28-2010, 01:15 PM Uh.....something about a high school reunion? OK, I give up already. Too many commercials, too much cut out.....oh, and it's the black and white ones too. :( You have to wonder why they even bother airing them. I mean, these pesky partial episodes just get in the way of the commercials and the TV Land plugs for their original offerings. |
