COMING IN MARCH: BEWITCHED, EVERYBODY LOVES RAYMOND & FIRST LOVE, SECOND CHANCE

I can't believe they are going to bring back Bewitched, it's crazy. It's still going to be on WGN America also, right?

I gotta say, this is one of the most solid schedules we have seen out of TV Land in years. There really isn't one bad part of the entire schedule. Primetime is fantastic, and the regular schedule just makes everything better. Boston Legal at 11pm is just about as logical as you can get, HI/MWC 9-11pm is great, and MWC/Roseanne 12-3am is also great. Mornings and daytime is good, and it seems like every show gets an even amount of airtime. TV Land is already on a roll this year - fantastic to see that.

Bewitched is going to seem out of place in March, IMO. All the shows they have now are very consistent with each other, but Bewitched seems like the odd man out. It'll be interesting where it goes (my guess is sometime in daytime).

So I guess this is one of "the 2". Link has been saying the 1st of the 2 would be joining in March. I didn't think Bewitched would fit that well either, but the morning block has seemed to started transitioning from a 70s Norman Lear block to a 60s classic block (with a little Lear stuck in the middle).

My guess is All in the Family/Sanford and Son will just go to afternoons or Hogan's Heroes will be cut back or removed to fit Bewitched in. I have a hard time seeing anything besides Andy Griffith and westerns airing past 1pm until PRIME.

Interesting that on weekends besides Three's Company on Saturdays at 2am, Andy Griffith/MASH between 5pm - 11pm on Sundays and The Brady Bunch/Little House on Sunday late nights---the schedule is completely composed on PRIME programming.

I desperately want Boston Legal to fail. I've waited so long for them to add a new drama, and THAT is what they go with? I can't imagine who's gonna be craving primetime reruns of that mess.

Bewitched, although I love it, is going to be totally out of place...will be interesting to see where they slot it in. I wouldn't drop Hogan's, because it probably fits best with Bewitched. They could do this (and keep AITF/SAS in the evening):

9-10am Beaver
10-11am Hillbillies
11-12am Bewitched
12-1pm Hogan's Heroes

Funny that Sanford and Son is kept in the evening when it is supposedly the oldest skewing show they have.

I also wonder if they'll also give Bewitched some weekend exposure. With most of the weekends being PRIME now, I wonder if Bewitched may replace Brady Bunch/Little House on late Sunday nights? I know that would be weird in that it would remove those shows from the schedule, but hey- that's TV Land for you sometimes.

I don't see Boston Legal working either. It doesn't really fit with the PRIME line-up of MWC, HI, and Roseanne. I especially don't see that Sunday afternoon block working out-I really think Bonanza and more hours of Andy will be back!

I'm real surprised this week that they are doing the HI launch from 8pm - 11pm instead of 9pm - 12am with Andy as a lead-in at 8pm instead of S&S at 7pm. I kind of see AITF and S&S making their way back to mornings exclusively at some point as I think the PRIME shows will begin to bleed into at least the 7pm/8pm hours.

Yes, exactly, the weekends with BL won't last long. The westerns will be back, I'm sure.

Agreed with that. But, I think Boston Legal will do well at 11pm. 11 is the perfect hour for this show to air on TV Land's schedule, and I'm glad to see they realized that. The entire PRIME schedule will be the youngest skewing part of the entire schedule with HI and MWC, and BL will follow that same pattern. Overall, their 9pm-3am schedule is very strong.

Why does 20th Television Syndication even bother with Boston Legal? It's only shown in the late night or 10am Sunday afternoon and the syndication of it only seems to last for a month or two on any channel they give it to. I'm glad I never supported the show to begin with, it seems full of FAIL. This will be buried by MWC and Roseanne reruns in a month or so.
Good lord, TV Land, if you're going to show another show with John Larroquette, have it be The John Larroquette Show, not this failure trash.

I could see Bewitched airing some on the weekends, like the late nights - they're pretty much done with LHOTP and The Brady Bunch apparently, so that seems like a possibility. I don't know if they'd air it outside of like 2am-6am, though.

Could it be possible this would be a time-restricted deal with WGN America?

Boston Legal is only available to local stations and WGN America on weekends. ION has the weekday rights, but it didn't do that great for them. It's doing fine on locals and WGN America. TV Land will be the first cable venture for Boston Legal since WGN is just sharing the weekend play rights with local stations. John Larroquette Show? Too short lived and wouldn't generate anything for TV Land in revenue.

What's with all the Boston Legal hate? lol. If you don't like the show, do you have to trash it on this board? Go do that on your time. If you think it isn't going to do well on TV Land, that's one thing, nothing wrong with that, but if you're going to call it "failure trash," that's downright disrespectful.

I never watched BL, and don't want to. I also hope it fails on Tvland. It's a current show, it shouldn't be on Tvland. But I'm enjoying Home Improvement. For February, the schedule changes are all ok, as they mostly involve shows I don't care about and the ones I do care about are just moved. Who are all these people watching High School Reunion? It looks like crap to me. I think I'll still watch the Superbowl but might catch Home Improvement during part of it. I also like You've Got Mail but it's been on tv so much recently. Never even heard of Blind Date before. As for Bewitched...ho hum. I never liked that one. And that's already on WGN anyway.

Bewitched may be on WGN America, but WGN is on far less systems than TV Land. I have the whole series anyway on DVD, but it may be nice for the casual fan who likes the show but doesn't necessarily have to own it.

Also from what I read, WGN only airs the color seasons.....Bewitched has two excellent black and white seasons (that's 78 episodes worth!) that are not being aired and these seasons are very worthy of seeing again. In fact these two seasons help elevate Bewitched to the classic status it deserves (and yea, the last 3 seasons sorta drag that reputation down).

Not to look too much in to March, but how did TVLand ever decide to bring back "Bewitched"? First of all, why do they ALWAYS add shows seen elsewhere? Secondly, I would have thought this channel would have brought back "Petticoat Junction" by now. I'm not just throwing any old show out there. PJ was TVLand's anchor in primetime when they premiered in 1996. It was on for a long time in the 8PM prime-time slot on weeknights. Furthermore, the show would do well with it's parent show "The Beverly Hillbillies" on weekday mornings. At least we are getting a 60s show added. Maybe PJ will be the other one.

I do like the February schedule.

Not news on February, but TV Land has picked-up another original. This one launches Fall 2010 with a 6 episode order:

CELEBRITY UBER-COUPLE LISA RINNA AND HARRY HAMLIN‪

TO OPEN THEIR DOORS TO TV LAND IN NEW REALITY DOCU-SOAP

“HARRY LOVES LISA”

Six-Episode TV Land PRIME Original Series To Air In Fall 2010‪

New York, NY, January 11, 2010 -- TV Land announced today that it has greenlit a six-episode docu-soap entitled “Harry Loves Lisa” featuring pop culture sensation Lisa Rinna and her heartthrob husband, Harry Hamlin. The series will be executive produced by Jason Carbone (“Run’s House”) and centers on the relationship between Rinna and Hamlin as they navigate together through the highs and lows as a devoted family living a hectic Hollywood lifestyle. “Harry Loves Lisa” brings to life the romantic notion that opposites attract as Lisa’s playful spontaneity differs from Harry’s more reserved demeanor. Audiences will watch as the two balance their differences in the midst of insane professional lives as working actors and entrepreneurs who are parenting two pre-teen daughters. One of Hollywood’s most enduring‪ couples, the Hamlins’ contradictory personalities make for amazing chemistry both on-screen and off. The TV Land PRIME original series is scheduled to air in Fall 2010 on TV Land.

"We are thrilled to be working with TV Land!” states Lisa Rinna and Harry Hamlin. “Our show will shine the spotlight on the adventure that is our life and the magic that holds us together."

“There is no denying the chemistry of this amazingly beautiful, smart and sexy couple,” states Larry W. Jones, president, TV Land. “When I met them, I was immediately blown away by their relationship. They are so proud and supportive of each other. It's clear why this relationship works on so many levels. Our audience will love seeing their honesty, humor and often-outrageous antics.”

Rinna and Hamlin have been married for over eleven years and became fan-favorites on "Dancing With the Stars" with Lisa dancing her way into America’s living room in Season 2 and Harry in Season 3. Rinna, a spunky go-getter, is well-known for her fiery roles on “Melrose Place” and “Days of our Lives” and recently landed on the New York Times Best Seller list with her inspirational book, Rinnavation. Classically trained and Yale-educated, Harry Hamlin skyrocketed to fame over 20 years ago with his starring role in “Clash of the Titans.” His show-stealing performance on "L.A. Law" – for which he garnered three consecutive Golden Globe nominations – turned Harry into a household name, landing him the title of People Magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive. Most recently, Hamlin appeared in the CBS thriller series, “Harper’s Island.” In 2007, the couple costarred in the long-running Broadway hit musical, “Chicago.”

The deal for “Harry Loves Lisa” was brokered by Creative Artists Agency.

Betty White Inks Deal For Recurring Role In Network’s TV LAND PRIME Original Series

New York, NY, January 13, 2010 -- TV Land announced today that it has signed comedic actresses Valerie Bertinelli, Jane Leeves and Wendie Malick to star as best friends in the network’s sitcom pilot “Hot in Cleveland.” Additionally, the incomparable Emmy Award-winning Betty White has also been cast in the comedy pilot as a recurring guest star. The sitcom, which was previously announced in October along with comedy pilot “Retired at 35,” is TV Land’s foray into scripted comedy series and is a TV Land PRIME presentation.

“Hot in Cleveland” is written by Emmy Award-winning Suzanne Martin (“Frasier,” “Ellen”) and is produced by Emmy Award-winner Sean Hayes’ Hazy Mills Productions.

The new comedy revolves around three fabulous, LA women of a certain age and best friends (Bertinelli, Leeves and Malick). Their lives are changed forever when their plane unexpectedly lands in Cleveland and they soon rediscover themselves in this new “promised land.” Loving their new home, the women find themselves living under one roof and battling their sassy, property caretaker, played by Betty White.

Popular actress Valerie Bertinelli is most-remembered for her role as “Barbara Jean Cooper” on the beloved Norman Lear sitcom “One Day At A Time.” She also starred in “Touched By An Angel” for the show’s final two seasons. More recently, Bertinelli became a spokesperson for the Jenny Craig weight-loss program and in 2008 she released the autobiography Losing It: And Gaining My Life Back One Pound At A Time, which discussed her struggles with weight loss. In November 2009, Bertinelli released a fitness DVD called “Losing It and Keeping Fit” and also wrote a follow-up book called Finding It: And Satisfying My Hunger for Life without Opening the Fridge.

Jane Leeves starred for 11 seasons in the Emmy Award-winning NBC comedy “Frasier” and was also nominated for an Emmy as Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for her role on the series as Daphne Moon. More recently, Leeves lent her voice to The Disney Channel’s “Phineas and Ferb” and guest-starred in USA Network’s “The Starter Wife.” Leeves is also known to audiences for playing the memorable character “Marla Penney” in several episodes of "Seinfield.”

Wendie Malick was nominated for two Emmy Awards and won a Golden Globe for her role as the hilarious and beautiful fashion editor Nina Van Horn in the NBC ensemble comedy “Just Shoot Me.” She appeared as Judith Tupper Stone in the early 1990s in the HBO comedy “Dream On,” for which she won four CableACE Awards as Best Actress in a Comedy Series. Malick's work has included roles in the movies “The American President,” “Scrooged” and “Bugsy.”

One of television's most beloved and talented actresses whose career has spanned over 50 years, Emmy Award-winning actress Betty White is best known for her role in the classic sitcom “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” and the beloved series “The Golden Girls.” White won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series for the first season of “The Golden Girls” and was nominated every year of the show's run. The series ran from 1985 to 1992 on NBC. White has also guest-starred on a number of television programs including “Ally McBeal,” ‘The Ellen Show,” “That 70s Show” and won an Emmy in 1996 for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series, appearing as herself on a memorable episode of “The John Laroquette Show.” White had a recurring role in ABC's “Boston Legal” from 2005 to 2008 as the calculating, blackmailing gossip-monger Catherine Piper, a role she originally portrayed as a guest star on “The Practice” in 2004. Most recently, White appeared in the 2009 motion picture, “The Proposal” with Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds. She will be honored with the Screen Actors Guild Achievement Award on January 23, 2010.

“Hot in Cleveland” is part of TV Land’s foray into scripted comedy series and is one of two sitcom pilots for the network. The cast of the network’s other pilot, the multicamera "Retired at 35" was announced last week with Johnathan McClain, "Saturday Night Live" alum Casey Wilson and acting veterans Jessica Walter and Christine Ebersole landing starring roles opposite previously cast George Segal. "Retired" follows David (McClain), a successful young businessman who decides to leave the New York rat race behind and move into his father Alan's (Segal) Florida retirement home.

Hope to announce TV Land March next week. Bewiched is getting a decent slot. And as of now, Married...with Children isn't listed (but that means nothing since it always comes back because it does so well).

I bet Bewitched will get something inbetween 5pm-7pm then. Move AiTF back to mornings, and put BW from 6-7? That's all I can think.

They finally get a decent looking prime-time schedule and lose Married once again. I still don't understand why they can't just get it and keep it.

The thing with Bewitched is that even if it is launched at an evening time-slot, it will just wind up in mornings within a matter of time. That's where it aired when it exited in 05 or 06, so why would it do better 4/5 years later? Of course as others have mentioned, it is surprising AITF and S&S have lasted as long as they have in evenings.

Hopefully, MWC will stay!

My impression of Sanford and Son is it has always done well, but the demographics are just too old for it, it's like the oldest show they have in that area. I never thought AITF did well, surprised it still airs in the evening. I think it will be a casuality of BW's arrival.

I see they're already promoting Everybody Loves Raymond as coming in April. With Married with Children possible leaving in March, my guess is Roseanne will take its slot until then, with Raymond filling in come April. It would be best if they dont lose MWC, though. Meanwhile, I wonder how Home Improvement is doing so far.

TheLink has posted the March schedule. Bewitched starts March 1 at 5/5:30pm Weekdays, replacing an hour of Andy Griffith (rather surprising that TAGS is down to an hour a day and AITF/S&S remain at 6pm/7pm).

MWC is no where to be seen. Roseanne replaces it Mon/Tue/Thu at 10pm and Bewitched will occupy its Saturday marathon slots for the most part. Bewitched gets quite a launch!

Biggest changes are after midnight-
M*A*S*H will air Mon - Thu 12/12:30am (still also airs 5/5:30am)
1am/1:30am- The Cosby Show
2am - 4am- Roseanne

I wish that they would get rid of all of it!Boring, underachiving shows that no one watch nor care for;more reality junk;just be glad that they do show the few classics left because in a few more years, they will be gone, replace by these new originals no one want to see.Who cares about HOT IN CLEVELAND nor RETRIED AT 35,or any of the stars in it?!?Winning awards does not make for a good T.V. show;I wish that people would learn that! But I say "go ahead;put on theses 'comdies'";I won't be watching them and I hope others join me.

That's bizarre. Don't have much reason to watch TV Land anymore.

Off topic but what time of day is Comedy Central airing it?

Could it be in the contract that it can only air on another network besides Spike for small amounts of time? Maybe it can't air any longer on TV Land, they want to air it but don't want it on Spike, so now they're moving it to Comedy Central?

IMO, it will probably do well on Comedy. Better fit than Spike..

As much as I love to see more Three's Company airings (wish they'd actually have some before 2am)---why get rid of The Brady Bunch and Little House on the Prairie's only airings?

I really don't see MWC staying gone from TV Land. It seems it is at much better use helping TV Land's evening/primetime/weekend schedule than it would be Comedy Central's afternoon/weekend schedule.

Pavan
01-29-2010, 11:11 PM
From what I hear Three's Company does excellent for them in the late night hours after 3am. I think better than anything after 12am and the morning shows (9am-12pm). Now they have it on 7 days a week instead of 6.

01-30-2010, 12:27 AM
The Brady Bunch and Little House did always seem like odd choices for late night, but they've been airing them there for close to a year.

I wonder if this is the last we'll see of them as they join Good Times and Star Trek on the classics bench?

TV LAND SENTENCES VIEWERS TO COURTROOM DRAMA AND LAUGHTER WHEN “BOSTON LEGAL” JOINS THE

TV LAND PRIME LINE-UP ON FEBRUARY 15TH

Network To Kick Off Premiere With A Marathon Of The

Most Popular Episodes On President’s Day

New York, New York, February 10, 2010 –-- “Order, order! ‘Boston Legal’ is now in session on TV Land!” The Primetime Emmy Award-winning hit series created by David E. Kelley premieres on Monday, February 15th with a President’s Day marathon from 12pm – 12am EST/PST, showing the best cases, most outrageous moments and most creative storylines that audiences love. During the marathon, TV Land PRIME will offer special character “briefs” on viewers favorite Crane, Poole & Schmidt firm members such as Denny Crane, Alan Shore and Shirley Schmidt, and viewers will learn personal and professional information on the characters as well as everything they need to know about this popular series.

“The poignant storylines offset by humor and wit skillfully acted and delivered by the infamous and talented William Shatner and Candice Bergen have resonated with audiences making ‘Boston Legal’ a favorite,” states Jaclyn Cohen, senior vice president of programming and acquisitions for TV Land. “TV Land viewers are sure to love this addition to our schedule!”

Created by David E. Kelley (“Ally McBeal,” “The Practice”) “Boston Legal” is a one-hour dramedy which ran on ABC for five seasons. The series follows the professional and personal lives of the attorneys at high-priced Boston law firm, Crane, Poole & Schmidt. The on-goings at the firm are made thoroughly entertaining by the talented cast, starring James Spader and television veterans William Shatner and Candice Bergen. Spader garnered two Primetime Emmys for his depiction of Alan Shore, a winning attorney with at times, less-than-ethical tactics. William Shatner received an Emmy and Golden Globe for his role as the quirky Denny Crane, the leading name of the firm, Crane, Poole & Schmidt, a star litigator in his heyday and now adjusting to his evolving role at the firm as he gets older. Candice Bergen, famous for her five-time Emmy-winning portrayal of Murphy Brown stars in “Boston Legal” as Shirley Schmidt, third name in the firm title. Schmidt is a no-nonsense attorney who rejoins the team toward the end of the first season, returning from a stint in New York. Schmidt and Crane were previously involved, which adds yet another layer of entertainment to the plot.

I'm looking forward to Boston Legal joining the lineup. I'll have fun watching the marathon on Monday (they chose some great episodes too!) But you know, I wish they'd they adding Murphy Brown back to the lineup. Since Candice Bergen is in BL, MB might work well in the midnight hour. And it adds more variety to the night.
