View Full Version : Mr. Belvedere season 4 dvd in January dawhite 12-09-2009, 08:01 PM Please order and tell your friends http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/news/Mr-Belvedere-Season-4/13098 Vahan 12-09-2009, 08:44 PM I wonder how Monika (catlover79) who usually rents TV Shows on DVD from her local library will be able to get this product, if it's only gonna be available exclusively on the Internet? tazz765 12-09-2009, 08:51 PM Just to point out this will be a standard DVD set with bonus commentaries with the creater and cast, but will only be available on Shout! Factory's website. catlover79 12-09-2009, 09:18 PM I wonder how Monika (catlover79) who usually rents TV Shows on DVD from her local library will be able to get this product, if it's only gonna be available exclusively on the Internet? I'll think of something. TV_Fan 12-09-2009, 09:39 PM I can't wait to hear specifically who will be giving the commentaries. I kept asking for the producers/creators to somehow be involved & it looks like finally at least one of them is. This will be my Christmas gift to myself. McFly121 12-10-2009, 03:20 AM Really a shame the first set didn't sell well. I guess those were people who did an impulse buy like, "Ohhhh, that old show. I think it was good. Let's buy it!" to find out it wasn't their thing, and so the next set's sales suffered. But they must've done well online to warrant a 2nd, and now 3rd release. Plus we all now that a majority of rare tv show dvd sales come from the internet. I never even saw Belvey in a Wal-Mart or Target. But a HUGE credit to Shout! for continuing the series. Only 2 seasons to go!!! TV_Fan 12-10-2009, 07:38 PM Really a shame the first set didn't sell well. I guess those were people who did an impulse buy like, "Ohhhh, that old show. I think it was good. Plus we all now that a majority of rare tv show dvd sales come from the internet. I never even saw Belvey in a Wal-Mart or Target. But a HUGE credit to Shout! for continuing the series. Only 2 seasons to go!!! I think the first set was a pretty decent seller for Shout! considering the speed they released the second set. I think the season three set was probably a medicore seller in retailers eyes and with the recession every title has a lot of competition. So the reailers only want to stock newer shows that they know will sell higher amounts and quicker than older shows like Mr Belvedere. The second set must have sold pretty decently for Shout! to be releasing the fourth season, with the added expensive of taping commentaries, even if it is only direct sale. Mr B was the most requested show for more seasons on their online poll, so they know the online shopper audience is there. I think there's a high probability we'll see the last two seasons released. They will probably be bare bones sets, but as long as they are released uncut I'm happy. Since they don't have to follow the general wait 6 months between releases they usual follow with general retail releases, there's even a good chance we'll see the series completed on DVD in 2010. McFly121 12-11-2009, 03:06 AM Which is why I was saying that a majority of sales (esp. ones for a lost, obscure show) are going to come from online ordering. Shout! obviously saw a tremendous response to finally getting the first set out, but it had to suffer from unimpressed viewers to see a dip in sales for set two. I'm sure the penny-pinching buyers played into it, but it's also not a show for everyone. It does say something, though: that even with Season 2 included in the first set, casual buyers still weren't impressed with it. Despite the fact that season 2 may be the best one of the six. But there are enough genunine fans of the show for Shout! to see a profit in going to all this trouble. TV_Fan 12-17-2009, 07:27 PM Season four up for pre order at Shout! :http://www.shoutfactorystore.com/prod.aspx?pfid=5257099 Marvo301 01-05-2010, 02:55 AM Well I bit the bullet and ordered season 4 from Shout Factory. This is the first time I've bought a DVD from a website other than Amazon. But since that wasn't an option for this release I had to go ahead and order directly from Shout. I just hope they continue with this and release all the seasons of Belvedere. TV_Fan 01-05-2010, 04:17 PM Well I bit the bullet and ordered season 4 from Shout Factory. I've never bought anything directly form Shout's website either, but I haven't heard any complaints. dawhite 01-07-2010, 11:13 PM There really isnt any difference in ordering from amazon except we have to pay freight. TVFan I post on the shoutfactory board all the time under fat albert little bummed on what brian said I hope we get season 5. TV_Fan 01-07-2010, 11:31 PM TVFan I post on the shoutfactory board all the time under fat albert little bummed on what brian said I hope we get season 5. I know it sounded like kind of a bummer, but I still still say hope is not lost. He didn't state any acutal pre order sales figures. The set hasn't even shipped yet. So there's still time. Maybe after the set is released & reviews are posted about it and word gets around, more people will buy it. Maybe it will be a slow seller. There were YEARS between some of Shout Factory's sets like Punky Brewster & That Girl. Those were completed. Now Brian recently said he will be producing a 2nd set of the animated C.O.P.S which he said several times didn't sell well at all. If a show like that can get a 2nd life on DTC than I think there's hope for seeing the final 2 seasons of Mr Belvedere. Even if we have to wait awhile it will be worth it. We just have to make enough noise. dawhite 01-09-2010, 01:19 AM I know it sounded like kind of a bummer, but I still still say hope is not lost. He didn't state any acutal pre order sales figures. If you read between the lines I think he's pretty much saying the first sets were decent sellers. If not, why would they be releasing them so quickly? Very strong chance the series will be completed. dawhite 01-10-2010, 12:03 AM I really think they will. I agree especially if like you said we just keep up the support on the messageboard you and 12thman,zaxxar have been great. Marvo301 01-21-2010, 07:00 PM I got an e-mail from Shout! Factory this a.m. informing me my season 4 DVD's have been shipped! Yahoo!! Marvo301 01-21-2010, 08:10 PM FedEx just showed up at my door with a delivery from Shout! Factory! And it's season 4 of Mr. Belvedere!!! Yeehaw!!! skees53 01-24-2010, 03:13 AM FedEx just showed up at my door with a delivery from Shout! Factory! And it's season 4 of Mr. Belvedere!!! Yeehaw!!! Have you, by any chance, seen Disc 3 yet? My set seems to have some sort of problem with that disc, with the DVD going back to the blue screen after each episode plays rather than going back to the menu. I'm wondering if it is just my set or if they are all like this... OKCRay 01-24-2010, 04:38 AM My DVD order arrived Saturday afternoon (along with Season 2 of ROOM 222). Only had a chance to watch the first episode on Disc 1 (the "Bowser Ball" episode)... just as funny as I remembered and the secondary storyline with Wesley doing a ventriloquist act with a "Mr. Belvedere" dummy was a riot! I'm thinking the reason Mr. B AND ROOM 222 didn't sell well in retail is because they didn't seem to be as widely available as some other series releases. I can honestly say I don't remember seeing the first season of Mr. B at Best Buy at all (IIRC I got mine at Borders, and they seem to be cutting back on their in-store DVD selections) and the ONLY place I've ever seen season 1 of ROOM 222 available was at Barnes and Noble, so I'm thinking the "poor retail sales" may be attributed to the relatively scarce availability of these issues to begin with. TV_Fan 01-24-2010, 09:58 AM I received my copy yesterday as well and am enjoying it. Skees, I checked disc 3 and after the end of each episode the next episode starts playing, even when "play all" has not been pressed. Also, I noticed on the disc & disc 1 that after the promo is played, the next epiosde's promo plays without going back to the main menu. skees53 01-24-2010, 12:14 PM That is strange, I don't have that promo problem at all, but on Disc 3, after each episode plays, the DVD just stops, and I have to hit the menu button to return to the main menu. tazz765 01-24-2010, 03:22 PM That is strange, I don't have that promo problem at all, but on Disc 3, after each episode plays, the DVD just stops, and I have to hit the menu button to return to the main menu. I have the same problem. TV_Fan 01-24-2010, 03:50 PM I wonder why I have a different problem with disc 3. Maybe they rushed these sets into production. When I first got season three back in Sept, the first few times I played the first disc, the first season of the first epiosde would skip except in play all. Now it works fine. I thought maybe it was my DVD player but others reported the same thing. I think its the way the discs are produced. At any rate, I already finished watching the first disc of season four. I laughed my head off at "The Fall Guy", my favorite episode of the season so far. I'm actually hesitant to watch too many episodes at once because I don't want to finish the set too quickly. I'd rather take my time and savor it, though it's hard to not watch them all at once. With the last two sets I was actually sad when I finished them the first time (though of course I've rewatched most episodes several times already). I just hope season five doesn't get stalled. I noticed Shout! Factory raised the prices on all three of their DTC sets that had the 1/19 release date and that has me a little concerned. My set seems to have some sort of problem with that disc, with the DVD going back to the blue screen after each episode plays rather than going back to the menu. I'm wondering if it is just my set or if they are all like this... Yes I have that exact same problem with disc 3! tazz765 01-25-2010, 01:27 AM The only other problem I noticed is that one of the episodes on Disc 2 (I believe Commentary) is missing about seven seconds or so of the closing credits. Vahan 01-25-2010, 01:30 AM The only other problem I noticed is that one of the episodes on Disc 2 (I believe Commentary) is missing about seven seconds or so of the closing credits. I hope you contact the company about this so that you can get a fixed disc. Vahan 12-18-2010, 10:21 PM So Monika, it's been almost a year since season 4 came out, and you still haven't gotten it yet? What's taking so long? Please answer me. MikeLutton 12-21-2010, 08:12 PM i want season 5 any word on that BelvedereFan 01-18-2011, 05:06 PM i want season 5 any word on that Ditto! MrCleveland 01-18-2011, 08:21 PM Are they available on Netflix? BelvedereFan 01-21-2011, 02:29 PM Are they available on Netflix? Netflix has the first 3 seasons, but no season 4 yet. Probably because it's only available on Shout Factory's site. :violin: McFly121 01-22-2011, 06:54 PM Hoping one of the commentaries is for the Counselor episode. Brice's thoughts on that would be good. Though I fear that ep being put on youtube; if you've seen the comments section just for *the promo* of that ep, it's pretty sickening. |
