COMING IN FEBRUARY: BOSTON LEGAL

Not bad, but I wish 8-10pm could be the same every weeknight. I guess it would be stupid to interrupt Home Improvement for an hour though (with MWC from 9-10pm). Can they not air Boston Legal every night?

IMO, they should air Little House in the evening or early morning again since it's not on Hallmark. I can't remember how long it's been that it hasn't aired anywhere nationally.

That's a lot of Home Improvement. I still hate how they do these nightly marathons. I'd much rather they just switch to a normal schedule Why not just make it easy and do Home Improvement 8pm, Married with Childre 9pm, Roseanne 10pm? And Boston Legal on Mondays - whats with that? Being such a recent show for them with a decent view following, it should be getting a nightly timeslot - why not 11pm?

I think that would be good and then they could even do marathons after midnight (12am - 2am OR 3am):

Mon- Married...with Children (can't remember if it's 1am or 2am they are restricted to)
Tue- Home Improvement
Wed- Boston Legal
Thu- Roseanne
Fri-3rd Rock or M*A*S*H

I could also see them airing MWC and/or HI in the 6pm/7pm hours

If the PRIME schedule stays this way in Feb, it will look kind of dumb just having MWC Wed/Thu 9pm - 10pm. It seems like they mainly want to use MWC for weekends to begin to PRIME-ify those parts of the schedule. Notice how the "Classic marathons" are currently reduced and go away after December.

I agree - midnight-2am marathons are a much better idea, with a regular primetime schedule happening 8pm-midnight. What you and clj2 would pretty much work perfectly. What they have now is far too confusing for the average viewer to follow.

This idea is perfect. I was going to suggest maybe HI 8-10, MWC 10-12, Roseanne 12-2 but that doesn't include Boston Legal which will be coming.

I would assume Boston Legal will air every night, maybe just on Monday will be a longer marathon (like HI has on Tuesdays).

However, having it look like this, as someone mentioned would be the best:
8-9: Home Improvement
9-10: Married with Children
10-11: Roseanne
11-12: Boston Legal

Just typing that out made me realize how well The Nanny would work in there (maybe at 9 before Roseanne). But there's no way that TV Land can air HI, MWC, Roseanne, Boston Legal, and then Nanny and Everybody Loves Raymond when that comes later on. They don't see to be planning on removing anything either. I guess that is why they don't do a regular schedule. With that many shows having to air from 8pm onwards they wouldn't be able to fit them all in.

That 8-12am schedule just sounds very reasonable to me. I don't understand why TV Land doesn't realize. Hopefully you're right, and Boston Legal will end up getting a nightly timeslot.

When Everybody Loves Raymond and The Nanny come, they could definitely have one hell of a primetime lineup. Home Improvement could shift to 7pm, Raymond could air at 8pm, 9pm would be The Nanny, 10pm would be Married with Children, with maybe Boston Legal at 11pm and Roseanne shifting to midnight. Something tells me a regular schedule like this, as reasonable as it may be, is never going to happen, though

The only thing though....why put as big of an acquisition as Boston Legal outside of prime-time at 11pm or something? Since Roseanne doesn't do that great, I'd move it (like I said previously) to 11pm-12am outside of PT and try Boston Legal 10pm-11pm.

Wow, the "classic marathons" HAVE been cut. That's a shame, especially for the Brady Bunch (I know it's having a marathon)/Good Times/Beaver/Hogan's types that don't have that great of timeslots.

Yeah...no "Good Times" anywhere on the schedule for January. And it's about time for a "Leave it to Beaver" marathon again (would have been great for around the holidays with families home a little more). "The Brady Bunch" may not have any airings for February as after the MLK Day Marathon, it's off Sunday nights with HI taking over 2am and HSR encores taking over 3am.

I don't think they are doing "classic marathons" because they want to be distanced from classic shows, and doing that on the weekends, especially when a lot of people are home, sort of promotes that idea. I wish they would do random classic marathons on Sunday afternoons instead of Andy Griffith as it already airs daily enough.

I don't get what they are doing with MWC, it's almost like it's filler.

That makes it a little better. I do like MWC at 1am. HSR and the movie still chop it up too much though. It would be nice if they could do the movie on Saturdays and originals on Sunday nights to keep a consistent weeknight schedule.

I wonder with this change how Boston Legal will be put into the schedule now? Weeknights at 11pm?

Good Times could always come back...I'd rather see it on the schedule than about 1/2 of the other classics they currently show. I think it kind of lost its place in the schedule when The Jeffersons went away (they often times put them together). AITF/S&S usually air together and those can fit in well with shows like TAGS, kind of leaving Good Times by itself.

Unfortunately, it doesn't seem TV Land will be adding any 1970's shows any time soon. Everything that is supposed to be coming is either from the 1960's, 1990's or 2000's.

If TV Land doesn't renew The Brady Bunch, Good Times, and Little House on the Prairie in 2010, they'll just be down to All in the Family, Sanford and Son, Three's Company, and M*A*S*H with their 70s offerings:(

I don't think they're going to renew anything that doesn't seem to fit or do well enough on the schedule to justify it. If GT, LHOTP, or The Brady Bunch did well enough, they'd find space on the schedule for them, IMO. Beverly Hillbillies could air once and Brady Bunch could air at 9:30am and Good Times could at 10:00am. I just don't think they do well anymore.

I wouldn't mind seeing the Norman Lear shows going, myself. TV Land ran them in to the ground in 2005-2006. I'd rather see some more Bob Newhart/Mary Tyler Moore/Chico/etc type shows from the 70s, if they ever add any new ones.

I'd love to see something like Mary Tyler Moore, Taxi, Bob Newhart too. I love 70s sitcoms, but outside of the Norman Lear ones, only Three's Company and M*A*S*H seem to have continued success. Even Happy Days has kind of fallen of the face of the Earth.

The Brady Bunch just doesn't fit on TV Land too well these days. I think many adults look for more adult-oriented sitcoms and obviously many young children aren't being introduced to it these days when its primary airings have been during overnights. Unlike in the early 90s when TBS aired it afternoons with Scooby Doo and such. The only sitcom it really goes with currently on TV Land is Leave it to Beaver, but I think that draws more of an audience similar to Andy Griffith and Beverly Hillbillies.

I'm not sure about Good Times. I honestly never saw it before 2005 when it came to TV Land. Along with The Jeffersons, its always kind of taken a back seat to Sanford and Son and All in the Family. It was big when it first came to TV Land probably because a lot of people hadn't seen it too much in years. The second half of the series hardly matches up to the first half (but the same could be said about shows such as Andy Griffith).

If Brady Bunch and Good Times leave, there will really only be 4 TV Land classics I'll still watch, and Norman Lear show pretty much account for 1/2 of that number, so I'd hate to see all of his shows go.

There's A New Taylor In Town When 'Home Improvement's 'Tim 'The Tool Man' Taylor And His Family Join TV Land Beginning January 4th

Network Celebrates Launch With Week-Long Marathon of Hilarious Episodes From Series

NEW YORK, Dec. 22 -- "Does everybody know what time it is?" "TOOL TIME!" Make some room Sheriff Andy Taylor, there are new Taylors in town when the hilarious comedy "Home Improvement" joins TV Land beginning Monday, January 4, 2010 at 8:00PM ET/PT. The series kicks off with a week-long marathon featuring the accident-prone "Tim Taylor" (Tim Allen) as he amusingly tries to balance the drama and chaos of his life as a husband, father and his fix-it television show "Tool Time." Beginning January 11th, "Home Improvement" can be seen weeknights at 9:00PM ET/PT on TV Land.

"TV Land is thrilled to add another hugely popular and much-loved television family to our network," states Larry W. Jones, president of TV Land. "Men and women alike love to watch with Tim Allen's lovingly know-it-all character on the show because they either know someone just like him ... or they are married to him."

"Home Improvement" was a smashing success on ABC where it ran for eight seasons and received numerous awards and nominations including seven Emmys and a Golden Globe win for Tim Allen in 1995 for "Best Performance by an Actor in a TV-Series - Comedy/Musical." Audiences fell in love with the hysterical and often-times relatable family dynamic between "Tim," his wife, "Jill" (Patricia Richardson) and sons "Brad" (Zachary Ty Bryan), "Randy" (Jonathan Taylor Thomas) and "Mark" (Taran Noah Smith) -- making the Taylors one of the most popular television families. Tim's partner and best friend "Al" (Richard Karn) added an additional comedic layer to the show, as did the Taylors' neighbor, "Wilson" (Earl Hindman), and the gorgeous "Tool Time" assistant, "The Tool Time Girl" (Pamela Anderson and later Debbe Dunning).

Starting Thursday, Jan. 21, TV Land returns off the clock times. So, this means All in the Family at 10:30am will be preempted for Sanford & Son (2 episodes still but listed from 10:30am-12pm). However, TV Land will be on the clock the entire day on Wednesdays, so All in the Family at 10:30am will air then.

I thought TV Land was airing the Haiti telethon from 8-10?

so off the clock is only daytime or is primetime/late night affected?

Pavan

As far as I know, TV Land hasn't scheduled the telethon. Off-the-clock is all day it seems (except Wednesdays). Maybe in PRIME it will be on the clock, not sure.

I hope The Entire schedule is off the clock

Ugh. I hope not.

and I could have swore TV Land had an ad last night advertising the telethon. I was kind of surprised by it, guess it was another stupid mistake, lol.

The last surviving cast member of the beloved western series “Bonanza,” Pernell Roberts has died of cancer at the age of 81.

Roberts, known to millions as Adam Cartwright on the show, also portrayed the title role of chief surgeon, Dr. John MacIntyre in the popular “M*A*S*H” spin-off “Trapper John, MD.”

Beginning today, January 26, TVLand.com invites fans of the classic series to vote for their favorite “Bonanza” episodes.

TV Land celebrated Bonanza's 50th Anniversary in September.

Set in Virginia City Nevada, Bonanza premiered on September 12, 1959 and was the first western to be televised in color. This popular series featured a family of ranchers called the Cartwrights, with widower Ben (Lorne Greene) and his three sons, Little Joe (Michael Landon), Hoss (Dan Blocker) and Adam (Pernell Roberts). As a non-traditional western, the series explored family life, hard work and the adventures of these four men. Other characters frequented the Ponderosa Ranch such as Hop Sing, (Vicor Sen Yung) the Ponderosa Cook, Candy (David Canary) and Griff King, (Tim Matheson) the ranch hands the Cartwrights hired, Dusty Rhoades, (Lou Frizzel) a friend of Ben’s, Jamie Hunter, (Mitch Vogel) an orphaned teenager the Cartwright’s took in and ended up adopting, Sheriff Roy Coffee, (Ray Teal) and Deputy Clem (Bing Russell).

Yeah it's a sad day in TV Land. They won't even do an on-air tribute anymore. I remember when they used to have prime-time marathons (even up until 2006) when somebody died and sometimes would have 48-hour ones when somebody really important died.
