View Full Version : Why This Board Suprises Me

This board serves as the trier of fact (Jury) on countless cases profiled on Unsolved Mysteries based on the available facts and evidence.

What suprises me is that this board don't seem to attract a great deal of relatives or interested persons about the cases that are discussed.

This board has online for a while. You would think that relatives or interested persons would using this board as a valuable resources.

Why is Angela Hammond's family not using this board?(She gets discussed alot)

In fact, what cases have actually attracted relatives and interested persons of the case to this forum.

Please list.

The following cases have had relatives/friends post on this board:

Lisa Marie Kimmel (her mom)
Tara Breckenridge (her boyfriend's ex-girlfriend(s))
Kurt Sova (his brother's friend)
Jesslyn Rich (her neice)
Randall Udderback (his ex-girlfriend & mother of his child)
The survivor from the Casey Nicole (his daughter)

Actually, Angela Hammond's relatives have posted on her case before. Please search the forums for more details.

However, that post was in I believe April of this year. I don't know why she doesn't post here anymore. I believe part of the reason is that law enforcement agencies frown upon posting information of active cases. That was why Suzanne (Leppert's sister) told us.

I will add the Pollis case.... that was a legendary thread

You must not read this board often........There have been several relatives who have posted on this board.

Now it should be mentioned that this board is not an investigative site like Webslueths or Zodiackiller.com.

I would suggest anyone looking to try to solve these cases find another forum or board.

This is still a fan website, when all is said and done.

Read through the back-threads a little more carefully. We've had a ton of people involved in these cases post here.

Just a few more off the top of my head:
The "Cindy" of the graffiti that was part of the Cindy Anderson case
The daughter of the lone Casey Nicole survivor
Friend of Keith Warren & family
Relative of Georges Gumbley
Dale Kerstetter's daughter
Jeremy Bright's family
Jane Boroski, Connecticut River Valley Serial Killer Survivor
a relative of Rachel Raver

I will list some more as I think of them....

Also, keep in mind that people involved in these cases might be "lurking" but not posting.

Melanie Hack, who is the sister of Cindy James, has posted here many times. 3 years ago, I contacted her through her blog and invited her to post here. She wrote me back and told me she had no idea people were still even discussing Cindy's case. I'm sure many relatives of people featured on the show feel the same way. They just don't know about this board.

A high school friend of Norman Ladner posted here a couple times afew years back.

Darius Bannerman posted here 4 years ago. He was one of the four black teenagers who were run off the road by that ugly looking dude in the blue el comino in Greensboro...

Okay off the top of my head I've compiled a list of people who have posted on the board who knew people profiled on UM:

PI in Bonnie Wilder case
Keith Reinhard's friend
Mary Morris' co-worker and her daughter
Relatives of Marvin Maple
cousin of Jennifer Pratt
Norman Ladner's friend
Doyle Wheeler
I think Sherry Eyerly's family posted years ago
people close to the Patsy Wright case
Kathy Bonderson's husbands family
Wendy Camp's sister
Michael Scott Martin's nephew
Gretchen Burford's son
Devin William's daughter
friend of Danny & Rena Paquette
Rhonda Hinson acquaintance
woman who thinks her husband was DB Cooper
Glenn Consagra's niece
someone who knew killer of "steamer trunk corpse"
friend of Sally McNelly
friends of Tara Breckinridge
Charles Horvath's mother
Linda Sohus' best friend
relatives of Chaim Weiss
Jessica Keen's sister
acquaintance of Adam Emery
friend of Rochelle Robinson
Dale Williams' daughter
Phyllis Strub's son
Nanette Brana

Here are a few I've talked with but I'm unsure if they've ever posted:

Michael Berens (the reporter in the Ohio prostitutes serial killer segment)
someone who is helping "Beaver" Tempest from Project Innocence
granddaughter of "John Burns"
someone who thinks his grandfather is Michael Saymore
Eileen Mangold's family
the girlfriend of Holly Krewson's ex-boyfriend
someone close to the "good samaritan" in the Russell Evan's segment (sadly she passed away a few years ago)
Missy Munday's friend
police in the Rolex Robbers case
Louis Carlucci's daughter
someone who thinks they're related to George J. Stein
Terri McClure's relatives and Tim McClure's co-worker
Diana Robertson's relative
police in Mabel Wood's case

Okay thats just off the top of my head. There are probably more who have posted to the board in years past, we just don't remember them all. Pretty impressive I think all the people connected with the cases who find us.

It was in the middle of 2008 when I realized that THIS IS the "go-to" site when friends & relatives of the people profiled on UM google their relatives names. I think its because those names have been brought up so many times, as well as the contributions and efforts of folks like crystaldawn.

Victoria Doreshenko's daughter posted here as well. As you will recall, she was the girl that was in a car accident and as a result, got epilepsy. She got a dog named Harley that could predict whenever her seizures would strike. I e-mailed this girl and asked her how her mother was doing and she told me that she's alive and well...living as normal a life as possible.

A high school classmate of Tracy Kirkpatrick posted here once as well. She worked in the store right next door to the clothing store Tracy was murdered in.

Well, I don't think we know if Cynthia Anderson is dead or alive. However, the person who came on the board did not claim to be Cynthia Anderson, but her name was Cindy. She claimed that she lived in the same town and her boyfriend at the time would go around painting graffiti saying, "I love you, Cindy" so the graffiti was actually directed at her as a harmless (if juvenile) gesture of love and not at Cynthia Anderson as the police suspected. If I get a chance, I'll go back and search for the thread and post the link.

ETA: Here is the link (http://www.sitcomsonline.com/boards/showthread.php?t=153775&page=4&highlight=graffiti). I don't think there's any reason to doubt her story. She even wrote UM to ask them to remove the the graffiti part of the segment.

I also think the Comedy Store ghost showed up and threw an ashtray at nowheregirl.

Ohhhh, weeeird (if she's being honest). All these years later and it wasn't even related to the case.

But we can presume that Cynthia Anderson is dead. Disappeared in 1981 and even if she wasn't killed by law office drug dealers, somebody did something to her.

When nowheregirl posts the thread link, you'll see that the poster even claimed to have spoken with Toledo police not long after the disappearance and told them about the graffiti, but was thoroughly ignored--for years.

But we can presume that Cynthia Anderson is dead. Disappeared in 1981 and even if she wasn't killed by law office drug dealers, somebody did something to her.

Not necessarily. There are a number of members here who tend to think she simply left to escape her apparently strict, Christian fundamentalist family.

I suppose there's a possibility for anything in this life, but that's a LOTTA years to pass w/o her surfacing somewhere. But that's what UM does to us: fascinates to the point of getting multiple theories going for cases long gone by.

Terri McClure's relatives and Tim McClure's co-worker

I was wondering if you could elaborate on this. I remember the co-worker posting here a few years ago looking for the segment. I think he said Tim was high strung, and a little eccentric, but nice, and this person did not believe that Tim killed his mother. Do you recall what Terri's relatives had to say? Did they believe Tim was involved in his mother's death?

I should probably save this for the Tim McClure thread, but I watched this again and I think he is innocent. I know I have flip flopped a lot over the years, but I just can't buy that he would contact UM and thrust this case into the public eye if he had gotten away with murder for all those years. Charges against him were dropped with prejudice, so the prosecution's case must have been absolutely pathetic.

Not sure if this was mentioned, but I believe a relative of Pam Ellender posted semi-recently.

Jeremy Bright's mom and sister posted as did a member of the Steinhoff family. Terry Lee Steinhoff was the prime suspect in Jeremy's disappearance apparently.

Tara Calico's mom posted here many years ago. She has since passed away, unfortunately.

Nice to see you've come over to my side, lol. I'm in the minority but I've always felt he was innocent. I didn't have much contact with the relative, I think they just wanted a copy of the segment and didn't offer much information. As far as his co-worker, he said Tim was weird but a nice guy and he didn't think he killed his mother. I think that pretty much sums it up...he comes across as sort of odd (I always think of the phrase "marches to the beat of a different drummer" when I think about him) and I think thats why a lot of people think he's guilty.

I always wonder about those threads where you will read post after post of nothing but speculation from regulars...but then there will be one post authored by some "one post wonder" you've never heard of, but they actually convey some information on the case that you've never heard before...then that poster disappears.

There was that one poster involving the Groezinger case that kept sending personal messages to everyone. That poster was upset that Judy was being accused on this board and had all these off the wall ideas on the case. That poster was never heard from again.

While it would certainly be great if some of the victims family's participated in this forum, I have strong doubts that some (or most) of the people who state that they "related" to the victim(s) are truly who they purport to be.

Why do I think that?

1) When asked reasonable questions they become defensive. This is usually a sign of deception.
2) They usually offering "information" and "details" that conflict w/ the basic narrative of the UM segment and print media sources.
3) The writing styles of a several "family members" are the same or similar to the styles of other "family members." Right down to the word usage and grammar.
4) The information they offer usually has little bearing upon the case, making you wonder why they would offer it in the first place?
5) No offense to this very informational forum, but the presence of family members begs the question: Why would they bother?

While I can see the use of this forum for "armchair detectives" and fans of UM, many of the opinions on here (including some of my own) aren't very well-researched and largely useless outside of this forum. Why would a family member seeking "answers" come to a place frequently where there are few, if any?

I enjoy this forum as a distraction and not much more. I would hope that since most of the cases discussed on here are many years old (or have unpleasant, but clear, solutions) that the families involved have either come to peace w/ their tragedies or have found more productive outlets for their issues.

I believe it was the wife or girlfriend of Diana's nephew if I remember correctly. They wanted a copy of the segment but didn't seem to know much about the case. Yes this was before his skull was found.

Another interesting thing this board has done is reunited siblings. Not sure if I ever mentioned this before but I was contacted a few years back by one of Louis Carlucci's many children. They had read a post on here where yet another one of his children had posted a few years earlier. They were anxious to find their other siblings and thanks to both being on this board they were able to reunite.
