View Full Version : Which Star Trek did you like better? Will 09-25-2001, 03:00 PM Did you like the original Star Trek series, or the new one? Will 09-25-2001, 03:02 PM I liked the original series the best! The characters were great, and the story lines were always amusing! Rama Mageesh 09-25-2001, 06:29 PM The Next Generation has always been my favorite. It was the one that made me a fan of Star Trek. TV Guy 10-01-2001, 07:34 PM "Next Generation" is the one that made me a fan as well. I liked "Voyager" as well (most Trekkers would disagree with me), mostly because I thought Kate Mulgrew was great as the captain. Rob 10-01-2001, 09:45 PM I have always preferred the Original series. ------------------ rangers689 10-02-2001, 06:44 AM Has to be voyager loved all the characters only disappointment was the last episode left a lot unsaid about what happened to the crew after they returnrd to earth a NaNcY FaNaTiC 10-02-2001, 08:33 PM I grew up watching TNG (I'm 17 now) but my fave is DS9. TOS is great too, and Voyager was so-so. TV Guy 10-02-2001, 09:55 PM Don't get me started on that "Voyager" finale! What a wasted opportunity! There was so much story potential there. Was there an investigation into Janeway's actions that got them stranded in the first place? What happened with the boyfriend who dumped her a few seasons into the series? What about the Maquis crew members -- did they stay in Starfleet? Were they put on trial? And did they all stay together as Voyager crew members, or did they go their separate ways? Instead, we only see them approaching earth in the last scene. And everyone is standing there practically emotionless. You'd think someone would have shed a few tears. Very disappointing. PPatters 10-03-2001, 06:46 AM FIrst, I do believe it was alluded to in previous episodes that Starfleet supported the Maquis who were integrated into Voyager and were not going to press charges. Also, I think that they leave you hanging for a reason. Maybe it's for a future movie. Maybe it's because that information wouldn't make for an interesting show. I mean, how are you going to fit that all in? It would take another SEVERAL episodes for us to find out if they go their separate ways, if they stay together, if the Maquis go on trial, what happens to Janeway's former fiance, etc... It would simply not flow into the episode. Anyways, I think that "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" would have to be my favorite. Second favorite is "Star Trek: The Next Generation". Then there's a tie for "The Original Series" and "Enterprise", then Voyager. TV Guy 10-03-2001, 03:27 PM >>I mean, how are you going to fit that all in?<< Agreed. At one point, the producers were supposedly considering having Voyager get home as early as November of the last season, with the remaining episodes spent on dealing with what happened after the crew got back to earth. I think this would have been a unique way to end the series. PPatters 10-03-2001, 05:21 PM Unique, but more than likely a ratings failure. People want to know what happens, but people don't want more than 15 minutes to describe what happens. I mean, there just wasn't that much to be done, really. I mean, it's up to your imagination, but to get Voyager home in November would not have been a smart move. It should have gotten home on the finale. I mean, it gets home in November, you see what happens, and then the finale just isn't important. You knew they got home, you have the jist of what is going to happen, no need to watch the finale. TV Guy 10-04-2001, 06:18 PM I can definitely see where returning to Earth anytime before the last episode could have resulted in an anti-climactical finale. I still wish we could have seen a little more of what happened after their return to earth, though. Oh, well. However, there is no confirmation of this, so, as was mentioned, we may just get to hear a little about what happens. ClassicComedyFan2 11-10-2001, 10:37 AM I personally love all the Trek series (even the cartoon). But, if I had to list them best to worst, it would be: 1. Next Generation 2. Voyager 3. Deep Space Nine 4. Original Series But, don't read it wrong, I love them all. http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/smile.gif Drew 11-10-2001, 05:34 PM I never really saw much of the first two, but id say if i would watch them in reruns i would choose to watch Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, and im watching Enterprise some. Bootsy Whoosh 11-11-2001, 05:35 PM oooh, Star Trek....*droooool* http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/lol.gif, I'm ok http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/crazy.gif Anyhoo, Voyager was the series that made me a fan, so Voyager will always have a special place in my heart, even though I know many people hate it. I think Voyager was very different, very unique, and it had more potential than any Star Trek series ever, which it unfortunately didn't live up to as it should have. As for that finale....don't get me started, either! I was NOT pleased with any of the Chakotay/Seven relationship...I mean come on! We all know who Seven belongs with, if anyone, and it sure as hell isn't Mr. Bump On A Log Chakotay. And I also agree that they needed to give more of an explanation as to what happened when they returned. They couldn't have returned early, because that would have been disastrous for the ratings, but what I think they could have pulled off was not bringing them home at all. How un-forseen would that have been? Then, I think they should have brought them home in a movie, if not on the big screen, then a special made-for-TV movie. If you feel like hearing my opinions on why Voyager was unsuccessful, let me know, I wrote something up about it awhile ago to post on another board, but I won't bore you with it. As for the other series, I think Voyager and TNG are ties for my favorites. Then I like TOS, followed by DS9. It's too soon to judge Enterprise, though I enjoy it so far. damin mance 08-23-2003, 08:28 AM it will always be the best!!! Troi Tribble 10-26-2006, 08:39 PM Next Gen. DEFINITELY!!!!!! Yooch 10-26-2006, 10:14 PM I like all of them, but TNG, Voyager and ST Enterprise are my very favorites! Buffyboy323 10-30-2006, 02:14 AM I like them all, but I LOVE TNG and DS9. :) George Yurich 10-30-2006, 07:39 AM I liked the original series with Shatner and Nimoy. Those other Star Trek series were for the birds. Scoobiedoo30 10-30-2006, 12:30 PM 1960's Star Treck treky 11-03-2006, 03:55 AM I loved all of them; exept for the first season of ENTERPRISE. 80sTrivia 11-03-2006, 06:43 AM My favorite will always be Star Trek: The Next Generation, for its superior cast, excellent direction and superb acting! :) Nighthawk76 11-03-2006, 03:49 PM Deep Space Nine Fleet 01-19-2007, 08:34 PM For me, definitely the original series. IMO, Captain Kirk, Mr. Spock and Dr. McCoy will never be topped. Great characters and great actors who portrayed them. The other series are just "Johnny-come-lately." Chachi'88 11-29-2009, 02:54 PM I like everything, though having to do a ranking, TNG DS9 VOY TOS but remains the BEST Telefilms (EVEN TELEFILM THE WORLD SERIES!) Only ENT I liked a little less. Retro4Life 11-29-2009, 03:23 PM I personally love all the Trek series (even the cartoon). But, if I had to list them best to worst, it would be: 1. Next Generation 2. Voyager 3. Deep Space Nine 4. Original Series But, don't read it wrong, I love them all. http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/smile.gif Wow, that's interesting. I'd rank them exactly opposite of you, with TOS being the best and so on down. Retro4Life 11-29-2009, 03:25 PM I was NOT pleased with any of the Chakotay/Seven relationship...I mean come on! We all know who Seven belongs with, if anyone, and it sure as hell isn't Mr. Bump On A Log Chakotay. I was REALLY disappointed by that gutless and illogical plot development. |
