I didn't do the test as I don't believe my memory is going south, it's pretty good for my years actually. But want to share what the FDA has just approved for Alzheimers and even though it's come out weak in trials. Only can run about $50K per year and if you all have no interests maybe your parents/grandparents. I'm probably the oldest here anyway.

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/fda-alzheimers-drug-approval-biogen-aduhelm/

https://www.nytimes.com/2021/06/07/health/aduhelm-fda-alzheimers-drug.html

And what the drug is said to do is reduce the amyloid plaque in the brain...and FYI, that is what Grape Seed Extract does and for about 50cents a day. I know many of you enjoy making fun of Grape Seed Extract but, how about this....Losing one's memory is a horrible horrible situation.

Of course I mean well, I would even share "saving the brain" with enemies and I've even done that on one of the forums you directed me to, the members are pretty horrid, but I still share info as everyone is aging and dementia and losing one's mind is a terrible terrible thing. I've read too many Caregiver forums on all this and their loved ones who are gone, memory wise...

On this issue, it's the caregivers who lose their lives trying to take care of the one's who have "lost their minds"....these people have no idea what is going on as the disease advances and many end up in homes to wait out their end. Very very sad.

I've attempted to talk "prevention" here and Health talk is a no no for the most part I was told.

As most of you know my husband is in a Memory care facility suffering from Lewybody Dementia.(Robin Williams had the same thing) But I must admit that this post is hilarious!

My hubby is doing well, considering. Doesn't talk much and cannot walk but still recognizes people. It's a sad thing to watch.:(

I can't see the humor here, and Penny sorry to hear about your husband, very tragic in my mind.

Just talking about this subject with some others and I have my gut feeling on so much of this memory loss issues, is the push for statin drugs over the last 20-30 yrs...I've read how these drugs have lowered the cholesterol so much and especially to the brain and our brain needs cholesterol.

My parents generation escaped these drugs and they lived long lives with a good brain.

Yeah, I know we should not talk health, but without good health, what is there.

Keeping a sense of humor is very vital to one's well being. Sometimes it's not easy but your post really made me laugh. Nothing wrong with that!

I guess not, I don't see the humor of what I posted. SOH is important and I suppose we see things differently. Not important so I won't go looking for the humor.

I just looked at #5 above and it was in response to the OP post and I don't see any humor, information Yes.

First of all, don't you DARE presume to tell Penny how to feel about her situation. THIS ISN'T ABOUT YOU! Having been a caretaker myself, I understand the need for dark humor.

No one believes your "medical" advice. You read one half-a$$ed article where the data is cherry-picked to support a conclusion and then act like a know-it-all. Or, you regurgitate the latest Brett Weinstein theory/chump bait so you can increase his podcast audience. You are a transparent shill.

Yes, you "know" not to discuss health here, but you can't seem to stop yourself.

Oh for god's sake, it goes on and on, the attacks attacks, and I didn't tell Penny not to see the humor in my posts, I said I don't see any humor. And I don't see any humor in dementia and alzheimers.

How MOST of you love to change my words!!!!!!!!!!!

I didn't tell Penny not to see the humor in my posts,

No, you had the nerve to judge her way of coping through a difficult family ordeal.

I swear, you have zero empathy for other people.

For your response, will you:

A. Play the little old lady card

or

B. Play the I only care about people's health card

Both cards are beyond tiresome.

Ok, let's put this thing to rest. Yes, I
think that this post is funny because it tricked me too at first. I think we all have these "duh" moments and I certainly did after reading the first 2 . When my husband first was slipping into the first stage of dementia he would say the goofiest things which were really funny. Of course we had no idea what was going on with him. He started having hallucinations . He kept claiming he was seeing me in different rooms where I was not. I was beginning to think I had a Doppelganger! That was scary not funny. He has more or less withdrawn into himself and doesn't say much and there are times when I wish he would blurt out something funny like he did at first. :)

Penny, thanks for your comments. I would NEVER make fun or jokes of any illness and for sure not dementia etc. I've probably read too many caregiver's stories on C-D and then thought thinking about my own life and people I know who are in my age group and personally don't have anyone in my life. but a good friend has a friend who now has 24/7 person in her home to take care of her and advancing dementia. And read Dr. Mary Newport's story and her husband's care, do you know of her. Her story in on the net.

So I do all I know of to keep myself going as I'm not getting any younger and the thought is there. My parents were good when they left in their 90's, so I probably have some good genes working for me.

Sad this thread got so blown out of proportion, it was not meant to go that way as far as I'm concerned. I reply to the poster and end up the bad guy. Thanks and on a couple other groups I read other's stories.
