Any of you write or read fan fiction?

I like to read fan fiction if it's well-written and I read a really good one a few nights ago. I don't stick around very long with the very poorly written ones! But there are some very talented fanfic writers out there and it's always a pleasure to read a really good fanfic.

I am currently writing one of my own, a crossover between Murder, She Wrote and Diagnosis Murder. My previous attempts at writing fan fiction haven't really worked out, so I've no idea how far I will get with this one - I'm on the second chapter now.

I'm currently writing a Three's Company fanfiction that I have posted over at fanfiction.net as well as here on our TC fanfiction board. It's my first serious one that I've written and I'm proud of it in some aspects, but I'm also very critical and hard on myself when it come to my writing. It's my passion so I'm a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to it.

Here's a link to the story if anyone's interested:

When I was 13-16. After that I grew up. I don't grasp the concept of that silly shipping crap either.

Do you think that writing fan fiction is a childish pursuit? If so, I disagree. I have come across fan fictions that seem quite childish in how they are written, but I have also read some very good ones.

Not all of them include shipping. I think fan fiction is a valid writing form.

I write Facts of Life fanfiction stories that are posted here on the FOL Fanfic board. I also wrote one for The Cosby Show about a gazillion years ago and it is posted on The Cosby Show Fanfic board as well.

I think it is a fun hobby and I enjoy it. I love reading them too.

I've read bits and pieces, but never a full one. I'm not opposed to reading them though.

Yes, I have written and read fan fiction before. A few years ago I posted some FT fan fiction on SO on the FT fan fiction board, but deleted it because I thought it wasn't allowed due to copyright laws. I think there are only two or so FT fan fictions that are still there.

If you're suggesting that writing fanfiction is childish, then you might also suggest that writing period is childish. To me, it's taking your writing abilities and applying them to something you know and enjoy. It's no more childish than a sitcom writer, a novelist, etc, imo.

I've been into it for awhile, kind of in spurts. Reading it is fun, when it's done well. As for writing, I've done it, but I have a terrible history of abandoning stories when I run out of ideas or get backed into a corner. I keep saying I should write some stories for some of my fave sitcoms, but I never seem to come up w/ a really good premise. If I could ever get over that, I def. think it would be fun to get back into it again. :)

I've written ones for Three's Company. I was planning on writing some for Seinfeld and Everybody loves Raymond but I never got around to it.

Many people who write fan fiction are not professional writers, and there are lots who don't take it too seriously and who see it just as a fun little hobby. As such, there are obviously a lot of badly-written fan fictions that can appear childish in the way they are written, but there are some excellent ones as well. So in my opinion, the act of writing fan fiction in general is not childish.

I used to write Three's Company fanfiction, but those were some of my worst writings ever! LOL

Now I ship M*A*S*H and I love it. It's therapy for me, and a nice release when I need a break from working on my novel. The M*A*S*H fic I'm currently writing is here: http://www.sitcomsonline.com/boards/showthread.php?t=217793

People who think Fan Fiction is childish or stupid have no imagination ;)

I've written only one on this site, for Three's Company. Someday I'll get around to posting one on Gilligan's Island... depends on when the mood takes me that route.

I've also written a few externally. It's something I do for relaxation, or if a story gets into my head. For aspiring writers (of any age) it's really a wonderful stepping-stone. Some writers have been discovered through their fanfic and been published. (I'm waiting for that to happen to me.)

I've written tons of fanfics. I started writing my own Star Trek stories in junior high. I still recall a time travel one called "A Stich In Time", which my dad liked quite a lot. In 8th grade I also wrote a Charles In Charge story in which Charles and Buddy win a free shopping spree in the supermarket. I never showed this one to anyone. During sophomore year I wrote a sitcom script based on a show idea that I created myself. In 1997 and 1998 I wrote entire scripts for Star Trek-Deep Space Nine, The X-Files and Millennium. I've also written a couple of screenplays, which were actually pretty good. Here at SO I've written a Square Pegs fic and am now working on my third Facts of Life story, which is going to be my last since I want to focus on my own original stores, in hope that I can get one published. :)

I LOVE writing fan fiction! In fact, I have an unfinished one on "You've Got Mail" that I really need to start working on again. But I have my own page at fanfiction.net and I'd love it if you guys could read some of my stuff. I've written two Seinfeld stories, two Monk stories, etc. And if you do read them, please review them if you don't mind.

Speaking of, fanfiction.net is a great site for publishing fan fiction. I get tons of reviews and it's nice to know that people read and like my stuff. It's a little tricky to maneuver the site, but if you want to post your stuff, I'd be glad to help you out. It's all broken down into TV, movies, plays, music. And if you have a fan fic on a particular genre that isn't listed, just email them and they'll add it.

Those of you who mentioned having some fan fic out there, I'd LOVE to read it. Where can I find it?

I've published the first two chapters of my fanfic on fanfiction.net. It's called A Meeting of Two Minds and is a crossover between Diagnosis Murder and Murder, She Wrote. I placed it in the DM section, though, because I thought it was likely to get more readers there. The title is a reference to the two master sleuths, Jessica Fletcher and Mark Sloan, meeting for the first time.

I made a few on here, but I have one to share for "Willy Wonka"....

Agustus Gloop-After getting himself in a mess with chocolate, it made him sick to his stomach. He couldn't eat for days and when he did, he shocked his parents by eating a carrot! Today, Agustus Gloop advertises for German version of Subway called 'Unterfuhrung' and encourages children to eat healthier. His mom is proud that Agustus still eats, even though it isn't chocolate or sausage. His dad wound-up eating sausage and drinking beer and never made it to see Agustus marry Miss Austria 1988.

Veruca Salt-After getting out of a garbage chute when the furnace was broken, she told daddy that she wanted a Flying Glass Elevator. But he said "Veruca, the only thing that you're getting is a bath"! Their relationship soured from that day on and her mother just never cared. It wouldn't be until Middle School when she would form a band called 'Veruca Salt' and found that the other members of the band were givers, so she would be more humble with her life and did charity work. Her dad died one day from a heart-attack while riding on his horse and sadly, she never mended her relationships with her parents, but she became Veruca Bucket when she was 23 when she married Charlie Bucket.

Violet Beauregarde-As she became normal, she wound-up being double-jointed. This didn't bug her since she became a popular Gymnast in the 1984 Summer Olympics. Her father Sam, lost the Mayoral Campaign right after the Chocolate Factory tour and his car dealership went down during the Oil Embargo. Her mother Scarlett was on the verge of divorcing Sam at this time and Violet lived with her father.

Mike Teevee-Mike grew to 10 feet and his parents had to move to a bigger house...just for him! Mike wouldn't watch anymore TV after that, instead he would play for the Phoenix Suns in the 80's. He was awarded the MVP for the 1981-1982 Season. He also has money in stocks and bonds.

Charles Bucket-Born and Raised in a small town in Pennsylvania right near the Chocolate Factory, Charlie got to live in the Chocolate Factory. He loved his family and they got to live in the Factory. He still went to school and once he graduated from High School, he met with a more humble Veruca Salt. For five years, they would go out. And with Veruca's money and Charlie's Factory, they got married under Willy Wonka. Charlie Bucket still can be seen and he will have a child sometime soon and name him William, after Willy Wonka. Charlie's grandparents are all dead, Grandpa Joe was the last to go. They are remembered right across from the other side of the chocolate river. And once in awhile, Charlie would meet the others as well as Willy Wonka.

Willy Wonka-After touring in a Glass Elevator and saving the world, he retired on an island called Gibbera, which is not too far from Loompaland. His popularity would make him popular and yet, no one knows why he retired. They say that he's not going to live forever, despite Gibbera having a high life span.

What do you think of that Fan Fiction?

I'm writing a fanfic on (don't laugh) "Duck Tales". Or rather, it's my alternative version of "Super Duck Tales", the block of five episodes, where Fenton Crackshell (my favorite character on that show) is introduced.
