As I type this, Hallmark Channel has given ILL a second chance (if it's still their, look at the news section at the top of the screen). They've even changed the time. No more of the early morning stuff (how fair was that 2 am or so time slot? Whose up that early?) It's going show at midday 5 pm- 8 pm, replacing M*A*S*H.
Always knew I liked Hallmark. Now if only they can bring FOL back...

I Love Lucy has gained another hour. It will now air four hours straight, from 5-9PM weekdays.

Let's just hope they keep to their word. Right now I'm more concerned with how many people out there are still watching I Love Lucy in their homes. If they removed it once for a couple months, obviously there must of not been enough people watching. But I'm sure that either some official running Hallmark or a mob of angry fans demanded for I Love Lucy to be put back on. So for the time being, this is going to be a guessing game. How long will our beloved sitcom be on Hallmark Channel is the question.

I''m watching the marathon right now. They're going to show it for 4 hours a day? When I saw the commercials I thought they meant it would air from 5-6, which made me mad because it would always be on while I was still working. Now I will definitely be able to watch!

^^^ Maybe that's just for the weekday marathon, if I'm understanding your question. Just a guess, though.
The first episode I turned it on was one of my favorites: 'Lucy Does A TV Commercial.' Caught it right when Lucy was starting to show the side effects of Vitameataveggiemin (spelling?)

Just like I said, how long Lucy will remain on Hallmark is the question. Note that the upcoming anniversary of I Love Lucy will be here in less than two weeks, so better go out and celebrate. If for any reason, Hallmark pulls Lucy before this anniversary, they will have a lot of 'splaining to do!

I agree, we better get all the "watching" in while we can because I'm sure it won't last for 2 long....especially for as many episodes at a time that they're giving us now

I have a suggestion where Hallmark can put all these shows once they pull them from their schedule, but I don't think people want to know where I think they should put them.

I don't think they have their schedule figured out at all yet. I've seen Lucy showing up late at nite as well

I urge you all to read one of the latest Blog Headlines. Hallmark is removing Lucy once again. After this coming week, I Love Lucy will NOT be found on cable television. The slots that I Love Lucy are in will be replaced by Golden Girls for the morning and M*A*S*H for the afternoon-evening.

It was expected that this was going to happen. Much of I Love Lucy on Hallmark is heavily edited, and I strongly assume that it's not building up a good audience. Time to wag the finger, and just go out to get the Complete Series. It's sad that television had to transform into a gimmick to pass the time. I don't enjoy today's television, I despise it. Reasons like this is why it's not worth the costs.

if anyone really loves Lucy they have the DVDs or in the process of buying them all.

A casual viewer just won't care.......

I just can't believe that after all those years in endless reruns, suddenly the fanbase for Lucy has fizzled out. I can see a slow decline over the years, but this show has kicked butt on TV right up until its final years on TV Land. Now suddenly they can't seem to find an audience? The biggest problem is that they only put the show on for a micro second, then poof. In general, it takes a good while just for people to catch up with a schedule change. The sudden ratings drop is because the viewers of the show being replaced are tuning out, and the new Lucy viewers not finding it yet. For any new or casual viewers, ONE week does not cut it to get interested enough.

The DVDs have been out for years now, and I'm sure most hardcore fans have all the sets. Yet, that should not stop new or casual viewers from watching this show. These networks schedulers these days have an attention span of a fly. I suspect Hallmark will go reality soon, just like TV Land and a great many other once-good networks have already done.

I think you and I have the same thinking pattern, MOWERDAN. I was recently on the TV Land forums, and I caught the I Love Lucy show on there. Throughout 2008 there was a steady audience and there were a few people posting their thoughts on the show every week. Then as soon as Lucy is pulled from TV Land, all of the posts were angry replies to get the show back on air. What was great was that TV Land had their own version of opening up I Love Lucy, which were basically the original openings that were around all those years ago. Now, as television and America in general inches their way towards more reality, hi-tech, and more explosive content, I Love Lucy seems to be a lost cause. It's only a matter of when and where it will end up next.

The sad story is this is also applying to the shows I grew up with. Sonic the Hedgehog, the original TMNT, Step by Step, Mister Rogers Neighborhood, and the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson, among others. All of the beloved classics are being phased out one by one to be replaced by glorified reality content featuring actors with talents as thin as a piece of cardboard. The cartoons are weak, talk shows are boring, reality shows are terrible, you get the picture. The casual viewer may not care, but even they knew what I Love Lucy was about. Hallmark is indeed, a shell of it's former self.

I think all of these satellite and cable channels are following in the path of MTV. Kids, if you're going to be watching a bunch of idiots show off on camera, we may as well admit that things have changed. These channels have strayed so far off their original course that you can question yourself why bother paying for your cable bill anymore?

I worry for what will happen when I Love Lucy turns 60. Will we still remember it, or will it quickly be forgotten by the current generation?

I am afraid that what you said is sadly true. How can realty shows replace classics that have endured generation after generation? I have to believe that if Hallmark would give Lucy a fair run, it could convert the young ones who just might be sick of mediocre television and half-baked ideas.

Yes, I know what you're saying. When I was a kid in the 1980s and 1990s, I used to find so many great shows that were on. I watched a lot of Saturday Morning Cartoons back then, and to think they are non-existent today is pretty much an insult. Classic shows aired alongside the more recent shows, and for most of us kids, we didn't mind.

Cartoon Network, Disney Channel, Nickelodeon, MTV, VH1, E!, BET. I can't stand any of those channels anymore. When I was a kid, cable was the must-have subscription. Now, I can pretty much ditch both cable and satellite, and nobody gives a crap.

Although, I have not given up hope. Most of us already know that there is a 70th Anniversary Edition of The Wizard of Oz, quite possibly one of the most beloved movies of all time. So there are people out there that still enjoy the classics. So if I Love Lucy comes out within the next two years as a limited 60th Anniversary Edition (with commentary and specials), then my hopes are accomplished. If I see nothing new in terms of reports, bulletins, audiences, or reputation within the next couple years, then damn, I guess the I Love Lucy fanbase has indeed, fizzled out.

Monday was my birthday. A week before my birthday I got a wonderful surprise! One of my local TV stations started airing ILL Monday-Friday from 3-3:30 p.m.

I know this is an old post, but it is a shame that ILL got pulled off the air. I am lucky, I have both dvd sets. (Yes, I am hardcore.. LOL). I was lucky enough to discover I love Lucy on Nick at Nite way back in the early 90s. That is when T.V. was great. I am 27, and I only wish that there were more shows like Lucy on t.v. I hate this reality tv junk that is all over the place these days. I miss the summer's on tvland where they had I love Lucy Tuesdays. That was my very favorite :(.
